RE: 1/8th scale B-1B
ORIGINAL: JetCatJimmy Am I the only one thinking that this may be the first personal RC jet that could actually carry a passenger?
I think a Swiss guy worked out how to carry a passenger with 4 turbines, though I guess he is the Pilot really [:D] Great Model Butch. We are all watching with our jaws on the floor over here in the UK, and thank you for the video diary, you have helped me understand the moulding process so muck I will have a go at it myself soon! Great pics there Graham :) It has been a glorious weekend hasn't it. I have to say the first picture drew my attention to the bikes to start with. Wishing I was on the road I suppose [:D] The LA7 certainly stands out in silver I have to say [sm=shades_smile.gif] Nigel

RE: P51-D Standard size of insignia
Thanks for the reply. Well I have drawn them over 3 views and believe they are 30" on the fuselage and 35" on the wings. These dimensions are the radius of the stars as per convention. But I was just looking for some form of confirmation from someone with the relevant documentation. Nigel

P51-D Standard size of insignia
Guys I am going mad! I am trying to find the definitive answer to this question. No guessing allowed Can someone tell me the standard sizes for the Stars & Bars on the wing and the fuselage for the full size P51D aircraft. I know the sizes are in increments of 5" from 10" up to 60" for the diameter of the star, but I just cant seem to find a book with the answers. Please . . . . before I go mad Thank you!

RE: MUSTANG T51 3/4 SCALE (how big would you like)
I have to say she is looking pretty good to me. It's interesting, your paint is the only one so far to have a "reaction" with the mask, I must know what brand it is so I can be wary of it in future or at least to advise customers. The 1K acrylic should work well as you found out. It's certainly been an interesting bird to monitor! Have a good Easter all! Nigel

RE: MUSTANG T51 3/4 SCALE (how big would you like)
Hi Dave. I am interested in the affect this paint appears to be having on the mask. What thinners are you using because the mask is supposed to be resistant to most paint shop thinners, epoxy, cellulose etc. That's why it's used widely in paint-shops! However, the tearing of the paint as Dave showed in the pictures above is not the mask, it can't be. That's poor adhesion of the paint to the surface and I would say you need to discuss that with the paint manufacturers. It simply should not happen! Hold onto a piece of mask that has been sprayed on and get Dave to bring it to Scampton. I'll take it back to the supplier! Let me know what the paint and thinners are for future info. Nigel

RE: MUSTANG T51 3/4 SCALE (how big would you like)
Doh. Sorry Dave, I have been doing work for 3 Dave's and 4 Phil's in the past week or two, amongst others and it looks like I have finally slipped up [&:] It's interesting you mention the paint ripping with the mask, I have only seen this before with water based paints, and the solution there was to wait over a week for the paint to dry. I know you have been letting this paint dry for a few days, but I can't believe 2 pack paint it is tarring. The only 2 pack I use is Klass-Kote, nothing like your 2 pack I'm sure, but I do everything in one operation. Mask, spray, clean spray gun, remove mask. So the mask is only on for 5 minutes after spraying. Not so easy on something as big as what you are doing so 5 minutes could be 10 - 20. Most disconcerting I must say! Nice pictures

RE: MUSTANG T51 3/4 SCALE (how big would you like)
Looks very nice there Phil (sorry Dave). I guess looking at the pictures we can just get a slight hint that the rivets are playing havoc with the painting. They seem to be everywhere you don't want them to be! Soldier on my good man soldier on! Nigel

RE: carving a scale prop
The Sensenich logo is a marking that I have recently drawn for a customer. It has been applied to the Prop with the DecalPRO system. The decal is so flat to the surface that you can see the grain of the wood through the logo. The silver is produced with a metallic satin foil to give a real vibrant colour. Enjoy

RE: Got To See 1/3 SPIT!!!!
Well it's still a work in progress so the builder might not have got to the finishing touches which could include the paint finish. As a built model however, the clean lines of the metalwork show great craftsmanship. How many imperfections have we all hidden with paint on our models?? It hides a lot of sins [&:] JoLLy
