RE: Fly Eagle F-16 1:4.6 Advance, wow
Hey all. Nice video. Does the nose gear door seem too close to the ground? In a hard landing or bump in the runway and the nose strut compresses, looks (to me) like it might grab and break the nose door off. Not meaning to be mean, just my observation. Mario.

work out Strut and Door open/close geometry
Hello there. I have a FB339 and have swaped out the original FB retracts for some Trim retracts. I have now found out that the geometry for the door that's attached to the strut has changed. The door and strut now bind when open(hang out). I think this is because the Trim unit is different in pivot point in height (elevation in relation to where it screws into the bearers)and is offset where the strut fits into the trunion. How do I work out the geometry so the door closes flush with the wing skin but when opens (hangs out), there is about 5mm gap as original FB setup? I have atached some pictures for you all to look at. Thanks for your help, Mario.

Spacing b\w nozzle and tailpipe.
Hi guys, gonna ask the same question again as my previous post - Spacing between turbine nozzle and tailpipe? - 5/6/2012 11:06 AM. In my previous post, phjoker listed a pdf from rcisfun and I thank u for that.. looking into the pdf, it shows to measure from the end of the turbine nozzle and a tailpipe. well now i have put a bell mouth and want to know where to measue from now? Do i measure from the start of the inside of the radius or outside of bellmouth to turbine nozzel? Geez, i'm really confussed on this! I've put some pics and the pdf for you to see. Thanks Mario.

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Heres my update regarding my 12-22 and my Duralite battery test. The 12-22 in the model continues to fail the battery test with the servos connected. With no servos conected it does not fail the battery test but Battery 2 continues to be nearly 0.2v or greater in its voltage drop then Battery 1 and very close to going over the maximum 1volt value set in Giga control. This seems to be the case even if I changed/swap the batteries over so i'm 100% confident it's not the batteries, but something in the Batt 2 circuitry in the reciever. Also for those not familiar with the Duralite batteries, you can put an external 1amp load on them and both batteries perform the same. On comparison with the 12-22 GyIII reciever, this does not fail at all. The voltage drops of both Batt 1 & 2 are virtually identical, within 0.02v of each other. This reciever has a average voltage drop of 0.61v on both Batt 1 & 2 with no servos connected displayed in Giga control. The 12-22 thats playing up has average voltage drop of 0.58 on batt 1 and 0.80 on batt 2 in Giga control. This average is the same even if I swap the battery plugs around. I think it's time to contact Jens at WEA and see if he has any explanation to this. Do you think that if I replace the Duralites with Lipos that I might be masking a problem here. The Lipo drop average is 0.13v on Batt 1 and 0.23v on Batt2. This way I can set the voltage drop in Giga down to 0.4v and have no annoying red light! Mario.

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Did some more tests this evening regarding the 12-22 and compared it to my other 12-22 GyIII. The 12-22 GyIII had significantly less voltage drop and did not set off the red battery light. But this did not have any servos hooked up at all so not sure if this will make any difference. My 12-22 thats is giving me the red battery light has 15 servos and 2 ign cut swithces hooked up to it totalling 17 outputs. I wonder if when powering up the reciever if it's a combination of all the servos and the reciever doing its load test is causing the red battery light to come on. Now I also tested this 12-22 with battery supply from a 2s lipo. Very little voltage drop, between 0.10v to 0.14v. I dont think the Duralights are the problem but it's the combination of the load test and the 15 servos hooked up. Only last test to do is to remove all the servo plugs and test it again with no servo load on start up. The other strange thing is when I swapped batt 1 and 2 over to eliminate the battery fault and run the test function again, it still failed on batt 2. If it was a faulty battery, it should have faulted on batt 1. Any thoughts? Mario.

RE: Info needed on
Hello Ken It,s mario here, i'm the one that bought the F86. Its a bit dissapointing as with the picture, i gives the impression it was a trim sabre. It seems a bit decieving that the guy has put the trim manual in knowing its not a trim kit. This alone would inflate the price knowing the top reputation that the trim kit has. Anyway i have been in contact with tony and will be meeting up with him soon to see if any of the trim parts fit this model. If anyone can help, I'm sure tony can. Mario.

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
12-22 battery warning using Duralite Litium Ion 5200 mAH with the built in balance circuitry packs X 2. These packs where bought new and only about 8 months old. When powering up the reciever, it goes through it's system checks and puts a 7amp load for 25msec. Its been doing this for a while but now I'm just sick of seeing the red battery light every time I turn the reciever on. Both batteries are 8.1v as displayed in Giga Control. The batteries are fully charged and batt pack 2 is continually failing this battery check on start up. The battery volts are as follows. Batt 1: 0.86v 0.79v 0.76v 0.87v 0.81v Batt 2: 1.45v 1.47v 1.40v 1.46v 1.31v In Giga Control, the max value that you can select for the voltage drop is 1.0v , hence why this batt2 continues to fail this test. Is there any guys using these batteries with this type of reciever and are you having this issue? Out of curiosity, what are your battery voltage drops when the reciever conducts this test with this battery type? It's annoying to have the red battery light on all the time! Also I have the low voltage setting set at 7.0v, is this too high or low? but this is not relevant to the start up test. Thanks Mario.

Info needed on "Fan Tastic Models" brand F86 Sabre.
Hello guys Need some info/help here pls. I bought this kit of ebay and need some info. Its a F86 Sabre, glass fuzz and foam core wings and stabs, around 63" wingspan. The plans are labelled Fan Tastic Models. Doing a google search and a RCU search and not getting any hits on this kit. It looks around 15 years old. In the pic you can see the kit and it shows a Trim manual and picture, but I can assure you its not a Trim kit as I have confirmed this with Tony at Trim Air. Suposodley new in box, it didn't come with and bulkheads, formers, ribs or any wood component at all. So I hope someone here can shed some light on this kit. Any info would be great, thanks Mario.

Hey Guys. My machinst neigbour took care of mine. On my motor (MT57), he cut away the fins just behind where the muffler bolts come out. Then using longer bolts so they come out the back, mount the muffler, then use ordinary nuts and put them on and lock them up with no loctite, rtv, nothing. Has never come loose since. Mario.

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Hello Richard. My reciever is the 12-22 gyro III but with no GPS. My firmware is still 2.33 but i dont seem the need to update to a later firmware as all has been working great. It has been working flawlesly with no trouble what so ever untill now. I have never tried using the gyro's as yet because i'm not sure how to set it all up. It was in a 96" twin elec Bronco, this is the test ship before it goes into the FB MB339. I'm not 100% if the sd card was full but I never have had trouble swithching it off. From memory, the plane had rougly 20 odd flights on it so i'm not sure how much data the equates too on the SD card. I wonder if that bug you mentined may be related as the gyro's are switched off (I believe) but why has it just started to happen now, not earlier on? Anyway, hopefully WEA may find something conclusive as I don't feel confident putting it into the 339, how do I know that it won't switch off in flight? Mario.

Hello David. I will try it if Wea deem the reciever to not be faulty, it's in their hands at the moment. Are they aware of this SD card issue? We will wait for now to see if they come with anything conclusive. Mario.

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Guys, I need help here pls. I have sent my 12-22 back to Wea for a warranty repair. I am dealing with Jens and I do think his trying but I feel the language/communication is where the breakdown is. When removing the red plug to power up the reciever, nothing happens. Its a sort of a hit and miss/ intermittent problem, every 4-6 time you remove the plug, it wont power up. This has happened numerous times, I have even filmed it and sent it in on a dvd with the reciever and again via my last email with Jens. I'm of the thinking that he thinks it swithces off after its powered up but this is not the case. You can clearly see it doesn't power up when removing the red plug when viewing the video. In his last email to me, he said he couldn't fault the reciever and was to send it back. Is there anyone who can please help, someone which may translate better or have direct contact with Jens or a Wea team member to better explain my problematic reciever. Thankyou, Mario.

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Quick 12-22 question? The screw fittings for the antennas are SMA fittings. Is it possible to use off the shelf available SMA 90 degree adapters to bring the antennas out at right angles so as not to bend the wire(antenna) in tight installs? Also will this have a direct impact on the receivers operation/signal strength? Thanks Mario.

Pros and Cons using a ByPass in a turbine installation
Hello There. Doing my first turbine install. FB339. Its supplied with a bypass but not sure whether to use it or not. I was sort of thinking to use the bottom half of the bypass and leave the top half off. What are the pro's and con's of using these bypasses as they seem available on nearly all the jet kits available these days. Thanks in advance, Mario.

No Weatronics customer service.
On the 24/3/12, I had put up a post up called "Weatronics crisis control - need help". It was about my 12-22 Gyro III not powering up. Well over the next few days after that, I have sent 3 different emails direct to Weatronics. 2 to help - technical surport and 1 to the manager. Its been well over one week. Well I'm still waiting for a reply. I think it's terrible that you invest alot of money into a product and don't get any reply. I'm sure if that I placed an order for another reciever that they would be happy to take my money but now that I need some good old customer service, theres not even one reply. Not happy Jan. Mario..

Hello again Mike. Also the batteries used are the 5200 mah - 4 cell li-ion FLAT - Hi-Current - 7.4 volt. They are good for 2C discharge = 10.4 amp. Well above the 7 amp load the reciever puts on the batteries at startup. Mario.

RE: Weatronics crisis control - need help
Hello Mike. The reciever does not power up at all. ZERO, nothing at all. I have noticed that when I remove the jumper plug to turn on the reciever, the little leds on the main body of the reciever (battery and status) are on but very very faintly. Also tried looking up the NAV. file but its no longer recording. If you try and turn the reciever off and on, it will sometimes turn on but has no regular pattern, only if your luky. Mario.

Weatronics crisis control - need help
Hello there Weatronic users. Need some help here with my 12-22 R Gyro III. Today I was doing a systems check to make sure all was well to go flying tomorrow. On power up to the reciever all went well but the battery led started flashing indicating the batteries droped below the pre set voltages in the start up test. I had got the laptop out and went into Giga Control to adjust the pre set voltage to eliminate the flashing led. Now I know the batteries are good and charged, they are the duralite 5200mah packs holding 7.77v and 7.78v each respectively. The flashing red led has been doing this for the last 6 or so flights but I always check the batteries anyway before power up with the little voltage load tester the duralite also sell. So i got the pre set voltage to about 0.75v in Giga Control to stop the flashing led when powering up and all was good so I turned the reciever off by installing the on/off jumper. When I then went to turn it on again, it didn"t power up at all. It was as if the batteries weren't even pluged in. The plane or reciever has never been in any crashs or recieved rough/missuse handling. It would have 30+ flights on it by now and never missed a beat, always worked perfectly as required. I have checked the batteries and they are still charged, tried another battery and still nothing. I have looked over the leads, ribbon cable and can't find a fault. I have moved/pulled/pushed all the wires (gently of course) and nothing is happening. I am starting to think that its something internal in the reciever. I am now really lost as what to do next. Any suggestions? Thankyou Mario.
