RE: Deluxe Materials - Eze-Kote
Jim, I used it when I built a new 3-piece wing for my Ziroli Stuka. I like the fact it doesn't have an odor and it dries quickly. I used it and 3/4 ounce fiberglass cloth for the wing.

Thanks Sam, Good points, I know I can print it out in just text format; the ideal situation would be if I could download onto a disc; that way I can upload it onto the computer in the shop for reference and not have to get online to find what I need.

Does anyone know how I can print out this with the pictures; Sam did an excellent job on documenting the build and I would like to have it with me when I do my build.

Sam, don't you mean you have a second plane that doesn't have retracts; or did you get rid of your N28 you had?

RE: getting the wood ready for primer
You could try this product: http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=DLMBD37 I just recently used it on a 3-piece wing I built for my Ziroli Stuka. I put down 2 coats on the raw balsa then followed by the fiberglass cloth; then an additional 3 coats. Sealed up great and NO ODER to deal with like epoxy finishing. The wing is now ready for primer and paint; and it's very lightweight.

RE: Invert's Fiberglassing Technique 101
invertmast, I enjoyed the video's you put together and it made it very clear to me about the process. I have been following Merlin Graves build on RCSB and he tried the process for the first time and now swears by it. I plan on using it the next time I have to glass myself. I do have one question though; once you pull the cloth off of your fiberglass part can you re-use the cloth again or does it need to be tossed?

RE: Glassing A Warbird With Resin Never Again Maybe
[quote]ORIGINAL: prgonzalez Maddog, Thanks for the clarification. I have been doing the filling of low spots and dings on the balsa surface. I am almost done with the wing. As you can see in the picture, the low spots are filled with light weight spackle. I am planning on glassing the wings this Friday. By the way, my spitfire will have flaps. Shall I glass the inner side of the flaps too? Pedro

RE: Glassing A Warbird With Resin Never Again Maybe
Pedro, You will want to get the surface as smooth a finish as if you were ready to glass it; fill all the imperfections and low spots; thats what I did with my wing. Then use a single coat of the EZE coat applied with the bristle brush. When sand with 400 grit; clean the surface with a tac rag when done, then lay out your cloth and brush on the first coat onto the surface using a foam brush. Let dry, sand with 400 grit again, tac rag it; then another coat of the EZE coat to finish. Sand with 400 grit. The surface is then ready for your primer. I'm going to be using Evercoat 2274 Acrylic primer on mine; I figure 2 coats sanding between them. This will finish filling the weave in the cloth. Spot putty and then hit it with the final coat of rattle can primer before the paint.

RE: Glassing A Warbird With Resin Never Again Maybe
Pedro, I just used the EZE-coat to do the wing for my Ziroli Stuka. I love the stuff. No Smell, dries fast and it cleans up with water. I suggest you use a regular bristle brush to do the first coat, it will fill the wood better. And then use a foam brush for applying the fiberglass matt and for the final coat. I deviated from the process by adding the second coat of EZE coat to the fiberglass without trimming the glass and then trimmed it after the 2nd coat.

RE: Can anyone help me with what this is and what it fits?
It's a prop drive setup for a Byron plane. From the looks of it I would guess it is the 4 balded set up used by the P-51 Mustang Byron sold back in the 80's.

RE: Ziroli 124
Barry, Seeing you already have the monokote down and you have seen for yourself that it would release when left to dry when you used the wax; go with that method. The other option would be to use vaseline instead of the wax.

RE: Ziroli 124
Barry, I used the monokote method to create fillets for my Ziroli stuke. I would recommend you wax the monocote to help the release the wing from the fuselage. I didn't when I did my Stuka and had the wing adhere to the fuselage in a few spots. Had to bang the heck out of the wing to get it to release and when it did, it damaged a portion of the wing. Just my 2 cents worth.
