RE: New to site and Helis
i would honestly have to argue that one seeing as my brother can barely haver the exi 450 i gave him and he came over one day , 3 packs later on the mcpx he was hovering in place and starting circuits lol. but hey everyone has their own opinions, budgets etc so i say good luck to the op but yes generally the bigger birds do handle a bit tamer not easier!

RE: New to site and Helis
you will find that mcpx to be as stable as any 450 its just smaller and quicker. save money by making your own stronger /longer booms, extra batts extra swash links extra tail blades will pretty much keep you in the game. for some reason people have been breaking swash balls imho the swash is probably the best and only "upgrade" needed (but not necissary just do the grommet mod). the cf frames and other aluminum parts are just bling and are very expensive !

RE: Flight Simulator
you can download the free helis for realflight from the knifesegde forums that people make (its the core models that is needed though to be able to use them and they cost money for some reason) so far the only unrealistic model i got was for the mcpx but the rest seem ok. having used both phoenix and real flight 5.5 i have to say the graphics on phoenix slams realflight but both get the job done. i have used the free trial of clearview also and it seems to be fine so i guess what ever your budget permits.

do you want a heli you can actually replace parts on it if something breaks or electronically fail? if the budget allows it i would look into eflight as im thinking your going to be hard pressed to find parts for the mentioned symas and if you do find them your probably waiting forever to get them . just my .02

RE: Mcpx electrical issue?
inspect the solder on the other side of the board to see if it was a crap solder job if thats the case someone can simply heat that solder back up and fix it. if not then chances are the wire broke right as it enters the board. i have the v1 and mine broke so after i repaired it i added some 5 min epoxy abit further down the wires and to the board so it couldnt bend where eflight put their little dab of glue.

RE: Mcpx electrical issue?
the main batt wires will break going into the board call eflight or take it back to your lhs or resolder if your proficient at soldering. apperently that was something that was overlooked on the v2 version.

you would probably be best off going with a dx7 or even a 8 , that way if you decide to do flybarless, or scale that has retracts and or lights you can use the extra channels to operate them.

RE: Time to go FBL on my 'ol 450 SE V2
tt is great for when you have to repair and replace the boom but seriously i had ty t500 and was dinkin with piro's and a hard gust of wind came up and i touched down a bit heavy , i didnt scrape any blades but the front umbrella gear stripped just like that ! also good luck on trying to find one that isnt tweaked a bit which will cause vibes. as far as fbl controllers i have a skookum 360 and a mikado vbar 5.0 on my t600 they both fly well and they both setup pretty much headache free. on that note i have read aligns controllers are a sob.

going to the left on takeoff is pretty normal on take off the more you get use to take offs you will learn to use a bit of right input to tame it!

RE: Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
well in the boating end of the hobby we try to leave a 15 % - 25% extra on the upper end of the overall amp draw but he should be fine with a 50a esc on the 450 sized most only use 40a. and truthfully when the heli bogs to try and climb and when batts start getting low is the hardest amp draws in the flight. high volts= low amps low volts = high amps. dont take them specs to heart either alot of em are bogus unless your looking at scorpions, castle etc.

RE: Recommend me a new heli
congrats best thing to do is get some fishing line and tie them links make a knot on one and leave some play but not much and tie a knot to the other link they will break once in a while but most of the time i lose em. i have tried painting em orange but that doesnt work well. google mcpx mods/ fixes theres lots of pics n reading.also the hardest thing ppl struggle with is lift off, i recommend after you plug in the batt is to set it down and waggle the right stick then spool up. at a certian point you will know the more you fly it is to just punch it and get it in the air. have fun oh and should you find yourself getting more batts there are better options out there than the eflight and they are dirt cheap.

RE: Replacement part questions.
if it says its a trex 450 clone then yes usually 99% of the parts work with no problems. in fact if you buy a clone i recommend that you use some align parts when you wreck . like bearings and shafts i would also use the bolt kits also as alot of the chinese metal is to soft and the heads strip etc.

RE: Newbe with 450
nose in is tough use the solo for that to bad you didnt read the forums as you probably woulda went with the mcpx instead of that 450. if your doing flips and stuff then your doing good or your very lucky, then again some learn quicker than others i still havent tried inverted with any of my 450 and up helis only my mcpx. i know finless bob on heli freaks has a video on how to take bright orange arm floats and cuts em down and rubber bands em to the skids so he can tell top and bottom theres a video on how to make em all you need is a vacuum bagger and the floaties. kds sells bright tail blades in which you could put like neon green or orange on tails and even flybar paddles which help. other than that i would say learn nose in its always the hardest.

RE: Recommend me a new heli
if you do decide to get one there are a few mods that will benefit nothing to time consuming. the best one is to make your own tail boom as the stocker will break. i cannot remember the diameter of the cf rod to get but make it a solid boom (which can be done when the stock breaks) and you will spend alot less time monkeying with it. and truthfully all that aluminum people are dressing theirs up with doesnt really affect it . all it does is bling it out. the aluminum swash is probably the only thing that matters but isnt needed.

RE: Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
the info on that motor you said pulled 50 amps and asked if a 45 amp esc would handle it threw me off i guess. 40a esc should be more than enough on a 450. that logo 700 your probably looking at 8 to 12s system (more than likely 12s) your better off googling that 1 though. also the pinion makes or breaks a setup too theres a few head speed calculators out theremthat will tell you what pinion etc you will want to use depending on what you have or have to get.

RE: msr x arrived!
i dont have a msrx but yes they lean if you bothered ever to do any reading or research before asking questions you would know this, and didnt you get a manual with the heli? did you input numbers from the heli manual for recommended settings for that bird on the dx6? normally on eflight the gear switch will switch the gyro only from hh mode to rate mode . but there again if you read the manual then it should tell you how to switch the dual rates
