ORIGINAL: diy-pro 1600 your budget? You should look into building your own. Motor/engine+ Hull esc and rx+TX you could save money and end up with way better results.
Good Advice i built a 41" carbon falcon running twin 8s motors and all good running gear for not much more than a 1000 (excluding the paint job )

No need i use a twin pickup in the rudder theres no drag and good cooling because the rudder is in the water most of the time

RE: miss vegas electric conversion
You will be ok with 6s on that motor , i race with a 1680kv on 6s with 42mm 2 blade prop or a 40mm 3 blade , also you may get a better balance using 2x 3s packs one on each side

RE: Adding caps to esc???
ORIGINAL: ryan_t888 In my opinion the safest route for all boaters who are reading this thread is to leave the ESC alone. The hard work to figure out what is needed in the ESC is already completed for you by the manufacture after you hand over your money. If you want increased reliability, make certain the power is available from the battery pack. Demanding setups must run 2p packs for excellent maximum discharge rating. This will not only protect your ESC, but everything else. To me there is no reason to mess with the ESC. Plan your builds accordingly. For the others who wish to experiment, understand the risks.
THANKS RYAN , thats all we need to know i think most people just wanted to know if it was safe to extend the wires and if adding extra capacitors were needed , without going too deep into it

RE: LARGE SCALE F1 OUTBOARD 'ELECTRIC'
Hi Dom Thanks for clearing a few points , This is a great thread i have run gas and nitro most of my life but now the time is coming we have a large boating lake its electric only now , i would like to build a "gas" size F1 tunnel its so good to get all the points out in the open before you start a build and build it right first time its not just a case of bolting a brushless motor on there are weight , torque and C of G points to look at also more room needed for batterys etc the next point i would like to raise wheres best to place to mount the batterys when running 10 to 12s they will be bulky and heavy would it be poss to locate in outer sponsons to lower the C of G or would that affect handling also with the motor on the outboard can you extend the wires on the ESC ( the turnigy 240a only have short wires ) will that cause a problem phil
ORIGINAL: HendricX Use the new MHZ NXT leg with a e-motor on it . [image]http://www.powerboat-friends-freising.de/usergallery/albums/userpics/Mercury-5.jpg[/image]
Thats a good looking leg and it will handle a bit better than a flex drive "rule of thumb with outboards " the closer the prop is to the back of the running surface the better the handling will be from what i have read on other forums , i would think its all down to cost both have there good points phil

RE: AMPS hulls & outboards pics& tips
ORIGINAL: specialk1 I would like to see it run [:D]
Man this is where the AMPS veldens should be screaming there nuts off across the lake [:D][:D], With a 4kw brushless motor pulling upwards of 40,000rpm on a 3 blade prop its fast , This is the first time out its handling is fantastic great round corners its almost on race pace with a bit more tweeking this boat could stand a chance in this years SUPERCAT class , not bad for a 30 year old tunnel ,

RE: AMPS Velden Tunnel hull ?????
Old Velden hits the water 1st time out small amount of tweeking and adjusting the power trim on 8 cells its fantastic handling and great round corners , its very controllable with no porposing i think the power trim is great you can set the prop angle on the move and see the speed rise awsome!!!! RE: Can't resist: Miss RENAULT 1/8 scale Hydro
No Need just go on the HK site and download the manual you can set everything with the transmitter most default setting are ready to go , you could just set your throttle range and "plug & play" the cell count , timing, LVCO are set in auto default mode from the factory

RE: Can't resist: Miss RENAULT 1/8 scale Hydro
never used the free wires on mine just connect the wire from esc into the RX the water pipes dont matter what way you connect as long as all tubes are used you may need the inlet and exit to be at one end to be a better fit in your boat you will need a BEC or RX battery for that ESC most speed controllers over 6s dont have a built in BEC

On paper it should be faster than nitro with a 3KW 4 pole motor on 30volts will spin a 50mm prop at over 40,000 rpm just hope the drive can take a 4 horsepower electric motor + the extra torque and higher rpm [;)]
