RE: King Motor T1000 Baja Truck
buddy they are all over america`s favorite online auction site . i`ve been reading what ever i could find on these and they seem pretty good . i am going to buy one myself . they do have some faults ,but the trouble seems random and not part specific . lets face it , these are not 1/10 or 1/8 scale , they have some weight to them and parts are going to break ! the real positive side to this is the cost savings and the availability of parts from your local hobby shop . from what i`ve read the only parts that are not compatable are the dif housing and all the goodies inside it. but an hpi dif housing will fit in the clone dif`s place . if that makes any sense . all of the aformentioned is based on the KM brand baja . the servo`s are not the best quality but they work .the tires apparently wear fast . hope this helps

hey thanks cbm for the input . the wood did seem more dense than balsa the same thickness . when the craft is ready for final assembly i will weigh it again , an post it . as for adding a few inches to the wing span ...that is a great idea , i should have thought of that . thanks again jay

RE: has anyone done this ?????
some more build pics the first shows my lines to cut on for the aileron ,the second is a scrap peice of balsa i traced the rib for the aileron , i used a cutout from the kit to get the rib, next , one rib cutout ready for final fitting , the next is traced on some more scrap ready to be cut , fourth pic shows ribs glued into place and aileron ready for final assembly , pic five i trimmed the excess off to ensure free movement , pic six .... both wings complete and ready to be beveled and hinged , the last pic is what is next , the elev. and rud. . my next question should i make this a four channel model ? can i spare the added weight to have a functional rudder ? any input is great . jay

i just finished putting together the su 31 and its a bute .the ease of assembly and the overall fit and finish is second to none ,one issue i had is the servo bays , i am a jr guy , this is setup for futaba servo`s . jr servos are a bit bigger than the futaba . now i am waiting for a good day to maiden this craft . good luck on choosing it is a tough choice in this day and age my 2c

RE: has anyone done this ?????
well i finaly made up my mind , i just purchased the guilos aeronca , it has a wingspan of 24" . i hope it is not too heavy . my theory behind the larger wingspan is i hope the wing loading will be more in favor for rc .i really wanted the 17" version but i figured i`d build this and see how difficult it will be to make it a nice flyer . before i build it i`ll weigh just the craft unassembled to get a better idea of the flying weight .i`ll post my findings and see what all who are interested think the direction of the build should go.
