RE: My day with the parkzone P-51
Their could be two possible problems here. One could be your battery, and another could be your ESC. I think you should run some tests on the ground and monitor ESC temperature, battery temperature etc. try a different battery and see if that helps. Sometimes these RTF models are more of a headache than they should be.

RE: My day with the parkzone P-51
You need to clarify, are you using a Lipo with it? Or a nimh? If your using a lipo, did you remember to remove the jumper on the ESC? And if its a nimh, with the stock Tamiya connector, there is a possibiliy that the connector momentarily lost connection, which could explain why you still had control of the plane, but the throttle wouldn't arm.

RE: Genius -EP
Ive had this model. Its a Fliton prodigy clone. I used a Park 480 with a 2200. Power was inspirational to say the least, but too much. Wing folded on it. Even with a spar reinforcement. Make sure to run a lot of thin CA on the landing gear mount, or better yet soak it in Poly Urethane, and land on smooth runways. Something in the region of a 200 watt outrunner and 1300mah 20C batteries will make this plane shine. The HXT servo's are better than HS55s. A 20- 25 AMP speedie would obviously be optimum. Good luck with it, its a sweet flying plane. It KE's with the best of them and 3D's quite nicely too.

RE: F27 STRYKER Part 7 : The Basics To The Darkest of Dark
I dont think I was getting even 65mph, maybe 60 with the Parkzone battery. T'was a fun plane. Whats the latest super fast project your working on gryphon?

RE: Mini Super Sportster EP
Nh actuall fibreglass cloth, and soak it with epoxy or CA. Im sorry I dont have any pictures as Ive lost this plane quite a while back. Maybe someone else can offer some help. Once you get the model, why don't you fabricate your own motor box? You can do all the measurements etc. Umm, as for what you can make it out off... Wood?[:D]

RE: Getting into 3D foamy
No not less power, less KV. Im not sure about your servo because you havent given me the weight. Im assuming its the Hextronic 5 gram. I think they still may be a little big but will work. Why not get a rhino 360 2S? And a Blue wonder 1300 KV? I think its best you ask this question here: http://www.rcgroups.com/indoor-pattern-f3p-373/ Im really only working on guesses here and think the people over there will know much more about this and offer much better help.

RE: Getting into 3D foamy
Your servos are way overkill. Im not too familiar with micro setups but the motor seems to have too high of KV and the servos should be around teh 3.6-5 gram mark.

RE: Mini Super Sportster EP
If its an outrunner your gonna have to make up a new motor box. The main concern I would have is the wing, pull out of as loop and it will fold, mine folded just cruising. Reinforce it somehow with carbon or maybe even take some covering away from the centre section and glass it.

RE: Super Cheap LiPo Batteries
I have to agree with everyone here. HC is the way to go. My first battery order from them has been the Rhino 10503S, and it undoubtably had more power than my Hyperion Litestorm 1200 20C. Just recently I ordered a Zippy H 3300 3S and its given my 25 sized Extra a huge boost in power over the "Awesome Power" battery i used. Their lipos are really top notch. Only with the poor Exchange rate its getting to be quite dear purchasing them from Australia.

RE: Precision Aerobatics Addiction
Or try a rolling harrier witha depron foamy. Its important to have a lot of aileron authority, so get something that rolls quickly.

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
Clovus, I know you are right but I really like this one. Ive always wanted a plane this size and I guess this ones more special to me than the rest. I went out for another fly just then. What an awesosome plane. I coul really feel the momentum carry it through each maneuvre. It snaps and tumbles unreal, first plane I can Knife and snap back to knife since my Prodigy. i found out it can hover and it can't harrier. I'll explore those aspects a little further down the track but honestly they dont interest me at the moment. It also knifes great, no imputs outside of rudder were needed. I also noticed it look a little smaller than it did yesterday[:D]

Andrew, John and Bleary thank you very much boys. Andrew, I reckon Ill be checking every everything before and after every flight[:D] I had a fingerprint on the canopy and scrubbed hard with some windex to get it off, thats how obsessive Im getting with this Extra. Im still awaiting your maiden with the Suk, hurry up and finish it![:D] My battery shipped out already from HC. Ahh the beauty

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
into a hover even on maiden flight. I think its a pattern/ sports model, as its pretty heavy for a 3D..., but the Australian dollar crash destroyed the chances of that. The Extra really reminds me of the Red Bull air

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
Hey guys, Im back from my maiden flight. I was at loss for words with this model. After a smooth takeoff it needed a couple of clicks of Up trim and it was flying perfectly straight. The model is stupid fast. With the 3S 3200, supplied brushless outrunner and 12x6 prop it was going at a speed... the trees. It lands very easily though. It was a very successful maiden. I do not think I will attempt

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
Rod let me borrow a 3300 for now while Im waiting on mine from HC (very nice of him), so I can maiden either now or tomrrow (or whenever the wind eases.) Only thing that worries me is space, Im thinking that this models gonna require a whole lot more than my previous one, plus I dont have anywhere smooth to land. Its time to think, I think.

Hey boys. Got my Extra earlier today. Its one ompressive model, it really takes some getting used to a model this size. Its got a really nice scheme and is easily the most impressive model Ive had yet and definately the best looker (lets face it Ive had some ugmo planes.) Ill post pics soon. Couple ours of building+ setting up is all thats left.

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
The record for Funjet is something like 165mph. We're talking near 2 kilowat power sytems though. Every model hits an aerodynamic wall where a crap load more power is needed to have it flying a little quicker, the funjets is at 120 mph.

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
Good luck mate. A couple of tips for the larger model. 2 1.5mm rods (one top, other bottom directly opposite eachother) on the wing will make it stiffer than even two 3mm tubes embedded in the wing. Go for a NACA 0014-0016 symmetrical airfoil on the wing, that will make it very floaty and a great low speed flyer, but sharpen the leading edge (Helps transition into high alfa.) Also remeber, the thicker the wing, the more strength and less need for reinforcement. Hobbycity stock some great light weight tubes for real cheap. Embed on full length 11x10 or 10x9 mm tube (750mm long) into the wing and reinforce the leading edge and trailing edge of the wing with so 3-5mmx1mm flat carbon (layed vertically.) The wing should be a sheeted 3mm depron, 5mm will be too thick and heavy. Will make for a strong wing if you can bend it round the ribs though. I will say I think a 1.2 meter WS model will be less than half the hassle of 1.4 metre X fuse could work if you can work around the airfoil, ther are other options but that may take your project a little bit past where you want it (full fuse etc.) BTW, I am using a 10x9mm CF tube (11x10mm being the sleeve for the 10x9mm) and have no doubt in my mind that it will hold up to the most brutal maneuvres in my upcoming Edge 540. Whats more, all thats needed is for it to really reach to the second rib of each wing panel (provided the wing is built stiff.) The sleeve does however add a great deal of strength.

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
They are one of my favorite maneuvres. Better to have a well built plane for them though, they put huge stress on the wings.

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
Haha that made me laugh. But seriously, I think having the CG that far back and still flying it is a testament to your skill. I knew there was something wrong, all the people on RCG with the any given 3DH model are obsessed with em. Lets hope your new CG has you having some real fun with it. You should see the half scale design of the Edge so far (plans/ design). Extreme flight and PA have been my inspiration. This will be one light bird. The Real Edge has a roll rate of 420 degrees a second, I wonder how fast I can make it[:D] Aileron size is surprisingly not the main factor here...

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
Heh. Id say go from where you have it. The way I set my Enigma's CG was by using the 33% MAC rule. It was great right on there. The USB looks like about 1/3, maybe push it a touch back. In the end "A nose heavy plane may fly badly, but a tail heavy plane flies only once." Well not really if you hover it in but you get the jist. OZ got there first.

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
Thats the one, only a much better colour scheme. Rod explained to me, companies go to manufacturers, pick out their models, cover them and add their own hardware. I'll get pics of it when I pick it up in a couple of weeks. I hope my first venture into mid size electrics is a good one. That Yak that you got looks pretty cool. I have to admit though I always thought the PA extra looks really out of proportion. The wing looks too big. The Katana MD is one of my fav birds in terms of proportion, but PA are getting their prices up on that too soon. In terms of the Tm/ Ultrafly Extra, it looks real scale and feels light enough but who knows. A 2500 3S should go well in it.

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
Yeah its a wicked little plane. I broke my aluminium X mount on my motor though. Suprisingly, not by crashing, but by blenders[:D] Still paying of my Extra, unfortunately from the three vids Ive seen of the Ultrafly version the guys skills were limited to rolling and poor video editing... Guess I'll have to find out myself how it flies, all indications are it will be really hard to 3D. From the reports Ive seen its simply not a 3D model. We'll see how it goes, it certainly looks nice. Will go witha 2500 3S from Mark or maybe a FP if its easier. 13x6.5 APC. Have you been out with the GeeBee much? I prefer the Addiction to it.
