RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build
After installing the first bo0ttom aileron sheet, I have discovered that the slight bow in the leading edge is intentional. That way, it conforms to the tip with no problem !!

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build
No full-size plans, except for one wing panel. The instructions are written quite well though. The two plans sheets that come with the kit are mainly for reference, and does contain the needed templates for some of the parts. With the building jigs that are included, plans are not really needed. I have one wing panel nearly complete, and so far I am really impressed with the AMR quality and support. Hope this helps, Scott

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build
Bob, great video !! I have reached the point of installing the aileron sheeting to the bottom of the aileron and noticed that the template on the plans has a slight bow to the leading edge. Can any of you tell me if this is accurate? The top edge is straight, seems logical that the bottom would as well. Anthony. glad to see your gonna rebuild her. It would be a shame not to. Thanks, Scott

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build
Hey Anthony, Scott here. I haven't talked to you since I tagged along on the Pepino build. I got so burned out on that project, I actually quit flying for a couple of years !! Well, I am back now. Got a few ARF projects out of the way, and I have started on the AMR 33% Waco. Now I remember the pleasure of building. I am sorry about the damage yours suffered. If you need any fuselage templates traced out, now is the time to get em. just let me know and I'll be glad to draw them out before I start on my fuse.

RE: Jim Pepino's YMF-5 Waco
Anthony, can you refresh me on how you made the fuesalge panels on your Waco? It seems that you made them out of wood, but I haven't found it yet in the thread. I now have my fuse covered and would like to start adding some detail before moving on to the wings. Thanks, Scott

RE: Jim Pepino's YMF-5 Waco
Actually, the acess hole for the screw is on the bottom side of the wing. No ugly holes on top. I did not cut any kind of notch in the aluminum bar, but after a few times I am sure one will be formed naturally. Anthony... BTW- I am still working on my Waco, and still monotoring this thread !! Scott

RE: AMR 33% Waco YMF-5 Build
Anthony, I know this is way off your current project, but how difficult was it to get the Barth cowl for your Pepino Waco? I have been off the map lately, but want to get mine finished. I have still been keeping up with your current project, looking great bt the way, I just haven't had anything to add. Scott

RE: WACO YMF
Thanks, Angel and John. After looking at the photos, I think Angel was right, the AA size will be about right. The reflectors are available for less than two bucks each. I don't think it will be to difficult to make it look scale.

RE: WACO YMF
John, I know I haven't had much to say in here recently, but I've still been trying to keep up on the thread. I have a question for you. What would the proper dimensions be for the lights in the wings at quarter scale? I was thinking of using "Maglite" reflectors, but O don't know if I should the AA size or the AAA size. Can you help, or does anyone else have any suggestions? Thanks

RE: Jim Pepino's YMF-5 Waco
Anthony, Thanks a million!! That is what I will do. I will use the piano wire struts though, and thread them for the 6/32 ball links. I would think this will make incidence adjustments easier if necessary also. I'll let you know how it turns out and provide pictures if I can pry the camera out of my wife's wisely protective hands. Once things get carried into my shop, they never seem to find their way back to the house. Odd, huh? Scott

RE: Jim Pepino's YMF-5 Waco
Anthony, I have been all through here and am having trouble finding what I am looking for. I know that you used a different method of attatching the top wing to the cabane struts than what the plans called for. Can you refresh me on what that method was? I was thinking of using monster ball link (6/32 or 8/32) connecters threaded onto the ends of the cabanes, is this what you did,and are you concerned about them coming off under stress? Thanks Scott

RE: Jim Pepino's YMF-5 Waco
Anthony, Have you made any more progress on your Waco? I am working on the fairings on the landing gear, and trying to finish up the fuselage. I have the bottom wing center and belly pan finished except for final sanding, then it's on to installing the servos and completing the front end. I'll have it ready for covering before long......... I think !!!!
