Well I for sure aint buying any HK turbine regardless of the outcome as to its abilities, once you experience the service first hand you realise that cheap is for a good reason! marcs

RE: Hobbyking BD5 for Jetcat P20
I have a damaged L59 fuselage too, and yes HK are crap at sorting out a replacement - been months with the same old standard email from some electronic computer trying to be a human dishing out BS all day long - furious and NEVER dealing with them ever again. marcs

RE: UAT full, but the turbine flamed out....
Most Festo fittings people refer to are the push fit type which use a rubber o ring to seal the pipe, the UAT you show has screw down fittings which effectively does the job of safety wire and clamp the pipe to the pipe outlet - these should be fine. marcs

RE: NEW - ELECTRO-BRAKE
John, Its more about space and what engineering can be sensibly made that functions well for the job in hand, the 'floating' disc method we use seems to tick many boxes, yes there will be cases where it is not ideal but its hard to satisfy all. As long as we have a sensible hub area/space we are likely to be able to make an Electro-brake fit. Interestingly its not a lateral force the Electro-brake applies, its actually a force similar to that of a drum brake in that its applying forces in the opposite direction to the rotation if the wheel in the same axis. marcs

RE: NEW - ELECTRO-BRAKE
Nicos, We plan to retro fit the brakes to most landing gear, the question as the whether its possible lies in the wheel design, some just wont be doable, others will be fine. When we start the manufacture after Jetpower we will request a wheel and leg from the customer to which we will then evaluate the options and advise yes or no, the price we set will be the same for all but the very large gear sets. Peter, It works using an electromagnet coil and a special 'floating' disc so no complex moving parts which could cause issues, the only wear will be slight and we estimate many years before any replacement discs are needed (subject naturally to 'normal' use!) marcs

RE: Storage - hanging jets from the ceiling
Everything is for sale [;)] The panels as you can see are lightened, things like threaded rod and knobs could easily be sourced at your end, as could the white plumbing pipe which acts to hide the threaded rods and provides the correct spacing so it would be just the MDF, ply or whatever other material you would choose. Shipping to Chile could be a problem, not sure of the weight of one unit (just wood) but you would need a box 1100mm long x 600mm wide by say 150mm deep to fit three stands........ marcs

RE: Storage - hanging jets from the ceiling
I have recently made some display stands which are for Jetpower to hold jets I am showing, the position is adjustable from nose down to almost level - in nose down they take up about half the space of a jet on its wheels...... maybe thats an option? You could add wheels too so it cold be moved around in a workspace easily too [;)] marcs

RE: Storage - hanging jets from the ceiling
I make straps and then hang the jet from the ceiling using those climbing clips which allow you to flip open the shackle. It does involve two people to do the job and with some ropes and simple pulley's it could be rigged to be done by one. You can get pulley's and all the bits from most good hardware stores. marcs

RE: ORION - sports jet build thread
Had a friend come over to have a look at the Orion so assembled it outside quickly to show off the overall look and scheme... Most of the wiring and cabling is all done, finishing off the wings by fitting the control linkages and pinning the flaps hinges to make sure they dont come loose - found a neat way to do this using tiny rivets with domed heads, drilled a 1.5mm hole through each hinge and dropped a small amount of medium cyano in the hole using a pin and then popped in the little rivets which makes for a neat safety job. Assembled the wheels and electric brakes, fitted the Electron retract units to the formers in the wing with M4 blind nuts. Needed to extend the legs a little so Rich is machining up some 6mm pins and a spacer collet to go in the gap between the retract trunion and the top of the trailing link upper leg, these should be back in the morning when I hope to get the second wing done too. Final jobs are to add a CAT, sort batteries, work out CG and then program TX, hopefully then I can run up the turbine and check the systems before a small taxi test. marcs

RE: ORION - sports jet build thread
Sorry for the lack of posts but I have been working away to try to get this jet done in time for this weekend which will be the only time to test and maiden the orion before jetpower where I hope it will be performing. Snapped a few shots tonight - wiring connectors to hook up front to main fuselage (Ashloks) - made a new data cable as the supplied were a little short - servo heat shields - nice Grumania pipe - B100F turbine - elevator linkages all made and connected - stab roots - rudder linkage - rear pipe exit detail - main equipment board, PB switch and IO board marcs

RE: Good sport jet for a fair price ?
Come to Jetpower and I will do you a deal on one of two kits I have there - as far as gear goes you can go cheap with Eurokit stuff or as I used in my demo kit the Electron 40 or 50 (electric retracts) range with Jet A1 trailing link gear. I believe most sports jet gear will fit so the choice is really very wide to suit most pockets. marcs
