RE: engine sugestion for 110
I have a 1/4 scale super cub that weighs 19.5 lbs and I run a JC 28cc gas turning a Zoar 18x8 and I tow 8 lb gilders with it. Get away from the converted engines, I went that route with a ryobi. Todays gas engines are lighter, more powerful and idle better than any converted weedwacker/chainsaw engine. Marc

RE: 33% hanger 9 piper pawnee
Keep in mind, I'm carrying almost 3lbs of fuel at takeoff, I've also got some large NiCads in the nose for balance. (the batteries probably weigh in at 2lbs total. The reason I went with NiCads is I needed the weigh for balance and don't like to run voltage regulators needed for a Li-Po setup. My school of thought is the less "active" components the more the reliability. I run dual RX batteries and a single ignition battery. Not sure about the 5th. My son has a football game at 9:30am. I"ll have to see what goes on. Marc

RE: 33% hanger 9 piper pawnee
Hey Andy, I weighed my Pawnee this weekend with the 50oz fuel tank full and the t/o weight is 46 lbs!!!! To the other person asking about props, I run a DLE 111cc with a 27x10 with no clearance issues. I might go to a 25x12 to limit some prop noise. Marc

RE: Copperhead Venom 45
I'm not into 3D that much........mainly IMAC/Precision aerobatics. I have the same airplane with a MOKI 2.10 and it performs like its on rails! However, the MOKI is very thirsty drinking about 2 oz per minute of glow fuel, gas is much cheaper and cleaner. I will probably put a smoke system on the gas plane as well. Any tips/suggestions on mounting, cowl cutouts, etc....would be greatly appreciated. You can reply back to my email at marcnrobin@bellsouth.net Marc

Can the Honda 4-stroke run inverted? I've seen several installations that have it that way, but don't know if the engine siezed after taking the picture due to oil starvation.........several threads say it will??? Marc

RE: Copperhead Aviation Venom 45-30
Mark, To clarify the above engine starting/running issues......Is a 6V ign battery too much? I plan on using a 4.8V 2000 Mah pack on my engine. I have read many threads on ignition modules and it seems that if 4.8v is good, more voltage is NOT always better. Is that a true statement? Thanks for all your time and research posted on this thread. Marc

RE: Copperhead Aviation Venom 45-30
I agree with Mitsu1.......10x1mm. The same adapter that fits my MOKI 2.10 fits the Venom 45. Tower Hobbies sells the long and short version. I keep a spare of each in my field box. I'm using a Tru-Turn 4" on my Extra 300. Marc

Tim, I see your online.........hope all is well in China. Keep up the good work. I haven't mounted my engine yet but can't wait. I think it's going to be a perfect match on my 25% Extra 300. RE: Copperhead Aviation Venom 45-30
Mark, Do you suggest doing the "diaphram vent" mod by venting inside the fuselage right from the start or see if its needed via trial and error? This engine will be installed on a GP 25% Patty Waqstaff Extra. My intention is to have NO positive pressure in the cowl. Marc

RE: Copperhead Aviation Venom 45-30
I haven't run my engine yet, I'm still building the aircraft for it. That said, there are a heck of a lot more positive posts about this engine than there are negatives. I can't wait to get mine mounted, broke-in and flying. I think Tim and his team and Mark's testing speak for themselves. Both Tim and Mark have replied very quickly to any emails that I have sent them no matter who trivial the questions might have been. I have the utmost confidence that this engine will exceed my expectations. Just my two cents! Marc Orlando, Fl.

RE: Copperhead Aviation Venom 45-30
I hardly think this is economical......I couldn't find the prices you quoted...$250 minimum purchase? I don't think the heat xfer to carb is that big of an issue. I usually have some time between flights anyway so the engine will probably cool down enough to not be a problem/concern. RE: Copperhead Aviation Venom 45-30
Mark, I got my engine last Thursday, probable won't get it installed and running for at least a month. I can't wait to get it running and broke in, as stated before it will be installed on a 25% GP Patty Wagstaff. I am currently flying one with a MOKI 2.10 and its killing me on fuel costs. The new one will be built out of the box and taylored for the Venom 45cc. Can't wait to get started, but I have a ton of "irons in the fire". Keep up the good info, its a real asset. Marc

RE: Copperhead Aviation Venom 45-30
Mark, Is it best to not use the "primer bulb" that came with the engine? Just seems like more plumbing to do if it's not needed. I have never used one one my ryobi conversions. Have you thought about putting smoke on the Venom engine? I've never done smoke but always liked the way that it looked. Marc

Sorry if this is a duplicate question...... What standoffs are used for mounting the engine? What is the propshaft threads? Does the ignition retard for starting? Llbs of thrust with certain props? Couldn't find this on their website. Marc
