RE: KINGTECH X JETCAT X JETCENTRAL X WREN
ORIGINAL: luv2flyrc
ORIGINAL: proline8000 What Meesh said. But look at the lifetime warrantee closely and you will see it is not what all of you think it is. I just had a friend send his K80 in for a check-up. It was 3 years old and had only 8 hours on it. It needed new bearings and a starter, 400 dollars later the lifetime warrantee was usless. I will hole off purchasing a K140 till Brian has 25 hours and it goes thru its first service.
Yes, anybody read the Kingtech  Lifetime warranty? It's nothing like the Jet Central Lifetime warranty. It only covers limited parts of the engine, not everything like JC's Look at this disclaimer from part 7- what a joke! ''7. KingTech reserves the right to void warranty and/or terminate future relations to an individual if one chooses to make a negative public announcement before contacting us and allowing us opportunity to assist or correct.'' Mike
No joke Mike or we wouldn't put it down black and white, having said this, we've never had to enforce it, just needed to be there and apologies to those who took offense. There's been many situations where posters were totally unintentional of any ill effects of his negative implications. With an email or phone call, most quickly realize their action may had been unfair to KingTech and eventually became some of our best customers. Cheers, Barry

RE: How to Correct Measured Thrust for Density Altitude?
Salute to the OP, something we've been looking into, especially since the humid Southern Taiwan won't see industry standard 15C for engine testings. What we have is 0.11kg of thrust difference per every 1C deviation from 15C, perhaps combine this with the above mentioned 2% loss per every 1,000 of elevation would be somewhat close? I'm sure there are other factors to consider, air pressure and humidity..., and perhaps some of these variables are exponentially curved [X(] It really be awesome to have a good calculator or formula to generate a more accurate thrust for our miniature turbine engines. Cheers, Barry
Proline, could you please be specific about your friend's service, ie. serial number, or email me his name...., because it does sound like a crash or FOD damage repair of some sort if the starter motor and bearings need to be replaced, in which case the lifetime warranty won't apply. We keep a very detailed record on every single service, including inspection reports, furthermore, any work is to be done would have to be permitted by the owner. Concerning the usefulness of our lifetime warranty, obviously I can't judge, however there's been cases that engines came in for second or third interval service and we went ahead and upgrade internal parts, ie. combustion chamber and/or shaft tunnel, all free of charge for even better reliability and fuel efficiency. These upgrade are done per factory protocol in accordance to the serial number of the engine and customers are always informed. In essence, we will be keeping your engine core as much up to date as we can with new parts! [;)] Thanks, Barry

RE: KingTech K-80
Hi Rush, seems like there maybe a combination of problems, fuel pump becoming more powerful plus the adverse condition of high humidity. All you have to do is to put the acceleration delay higher in the RUN menu for a smooth acceleration. Barry

RE: Kingtech k100
K-100Gs flight reports came back with flawless records worldwide, including Sean's [:)] As with the colors, a great many people including myself love the new scheme and if you don't then that's just too bad. We may consider doing a custom scheme, but for sure won't do certain ones like metallic blue or pinkish purple. Incidentally, I've asked the factory to build me a "black widow" (my favorite Cox 049 : ) an all black anodized 180G. Specs for the 100G has been on our site and residual thrust is 0.85 pound at 43,000. Regards, Barry

RE: Info from Data Terminal after a shutdown
I didn't know it's a 140, which case serial number would not mattered at all. Sounds to me you have fuel plumbing issue, check clunk, vent.....etc.etc, but before we rule out turbine related issue, make sure your pump pw and EGT are all normal.

RE: Info from Data Terminal after a shutdown
Dominic, I have a few questions for you... 1) What's the serial number of your engine? 2) If you could replicate the flame out on the ground? 3) Is it at a certain RPM range from throttling up and/or down? 4) After flame out, press #1 button for message Thanks, Barry

Marcelo, I only have preliminary answers to your questions and subject to be finalized by Joao. 1) Edited due to mis-info, please refer to below 2) Comes packaged with a carrying case (optional) 3) Perhaps a 140 would be a good choice for grass field take offs, also depends on the condition of your grass field. RE: Fresno 2012 Jet Rally, no turbines?
You can't call it Fresno Jets if you have turbines banned, plus this is only an one weekend out of the entire year, you could always have EDF only events and gatherings whenever you like. My commitment to sponsor Fresno firmly stands if turbine is a go, c'mon boys, let's bring it back! Barry

RE: Fresno 2012 Jet Rally, no turbines?
ORIGINAL: fxvtol David S.            Thanks for the tip David I am speaking for myself and it's not a weakness it's a fact that I don't see any foamy jets flying at the same time they have turbine jets flying. Al
Perhaps it's not an intimidation nor weakness, probably just a courteous yielding from most. I must admit that I haven't been to Fresno Jets, but I am looking forward to one, if the schedule doesn't conflict with Salinas Airshow with Thunderbirds. After reading the entire thread, I feel perhaps there's a genuine frustration for lack of turnout from the last two years. How about un-ban turbines and let's do a head count for those who will attend. I would even commit to contribute at least $1000 from auctioning some of our new engines in honor of the event and the club, if turbine is a go. Cheers, Barry
