RE: motor parts for redcat needed
But they whole motor is only like 85 or so dollars I dont think you could get parts for any cheaper than that. have you checked out www.clermontmotorsports.com if you can get parts for them he would have them and his service is awsome.

RE: Do you like red cat
I agree speedchris, i would be so happy if i could drive 5 min without something breaking, and after i broke my first part i started to drive it in my yard really nicely, (no jumps) and i broke a rear a-arm by driving over a 1/4 inch stick and the gears suck really bad. i bought about $120 worth of parts and i want to sell it all, all the parts havent came in yet, got them from chubbysdad, he is awsome, great shipping and service, he is the only good thing i think there is about these buggys. i have a traxxas rustler and i would strongly sugest a different brand than redcat or himoto to anyone. expecially the japan .18 engine, that thing is the biggest pile of crap ever. but all of this is my own oppinion alot of people on here love there buggys to death, anyways peace out

RE: engine compression
thanks i figured that it runs pretty hard but seems to want to cut out full throttle and it dies if i lean it out and dies if i richen it up, so i figured i will live with it until the engine is shot since it is the one needle wonder which you already know that we chated about it before, it is fine at about idle to 3/4 throttle (it runs good enought to break, rear a-arm, shock tower and bend shock, front door mount and make the engine gear wear very good just waiting for the trans gears to strip[>:]I wish they would make em better) but anyways thanks i'm not going to worry about it then. martin

engine compression
I recently broke my cluch spring and so i took the engine out of the buggy, i noticed the thing turns over very easy. like it dont have very much compression or something, i have ran about 12 or so tanks through it and it has been ran very rich, temp was 253 to 258 after tuning, i checked with two guages. it also has a nice stream of blue smoke out the exhaust. is this normal or is my engine already shot. i took off head and everything looks great. i dont have a compression guage to take a reading but still my plane engines turn over alot more harder but they are also .46 and bigger engines maybe that is the difference, also what is compression on these things new supose to be? thanks for lookin martin

RE: "OFFICIAL"Redcat Racing 1/10th BUGGY
speedchris, i have one of these engines also, it took me about a dozen tanks to finaly get the thing halfway tuned. there is only 2 adjustments on it, the idle speed and high speed needle valve, the idle adjustment is the little phillips screw with a spring on it right next to your carb opening and the high speed neele valve is where the fuel line comes into carb, i have my needle valve set 1 3/4 turns out, if this helps you at all and the idle so the opening of the carb is about 1/16 of inch otherwise that is all i can tell you, i am new at this although i have planes but they are much easier to tune in my opinion.

I took my nitro rustler proline chevy body i got when i bought my ruslter new and started cuting it up, i wish i would have taken more time but i didnt know it would fit this good and i also put some foam on the front of the body to help cushion the front bumper from hits, i made this for my bashing body. take a look tell me what you think

RE: "OFFICIAL" Himoto / Redcat Racing 1/10th BUGGY
Well I got my hunk of junk japan .18 engine tuned today after about 15 tanks of fuel, the funny thing is, is that i was making fine adjustments and just couldnt get it no matter which way i went, i got mad and started turned it 1/2 of a turn and wow this thing moves now! i just got completely lucky but i do know now i will never buy an engine that only has 1 tunning needle because i think they suck big time. i am just happy i stumbled on to the setting. about 2 mins. after she was going good the set screw on the ujoint on the rear of trans can out completly and only the front wheels turn and have no brakes, it dont go very good with just front wheel drive, hopefully i can get it going tommorw. Hey popper how was the beach?? did she run good in the sand. bahamas was awsome didnt want to come back at all.

RE: Pull starter
I've got a tigergear you can see in my gallery, I have cranked and cranked on it due to improper tuning by me, and the thing still works great, it for sure last alot longer than the pull starter did. well we will see if it will last the life of the engine, if it does i am sold on it for only 20 dollars you cant go wrong.

RE: "OFFICIAL" Himoto / Redcat Racing 1/10th BUGGY
hopefully you wond have to put some pics on here after your day at the beach[sm=biggrin.gif] bet it would be really fun though, have you ever seen four-wheelers that they drive in the sand, they have shock protecters/covers, but i dont know if that would matter on these little things? anyway have fun tommorow, I will be on a plane to the bahamas. ill be back next wednesday, i gotta get up at 3 a.m. and i cant get off this comp. (afraid i might miss something, even though it will still be here when i get back)

RE: "OFFICIAL" Himoto / Redcat Racing 1/10th BUGGY
I have no clue i was wondering the same thing, i cant believe the a-arm didnt break. I hit a stick in the grass not a very big one but it cause my buggy to do about 7 or 8 hard cartwheels and endos. I was lucky this is all that broke but after driving to day i think these little buggys hold up pretty good, just my engine sucks at this moment. My traxxas rustler is so easy to tune i can tune it in about 10 min my first time which was today, i took it back to factory settings and tuned it, i thought it might be eaisier to tune it and it was! also thought it may help with tunning the himoto

RE: "OFFICIAL" Himoto / Redcat Racing 1/10th BUGGY
can i get just a carb or should i get a whole new motor? and if just a carb, how do i go about finding out what will work? also i broke my antenna tube due to many and i mean many roll overs i just put a piece of fuel line inbetween the cover and tube so it is flexible when rolling over but still stays up when driving you can see it in the pic above it was supose to be a temerary fix but after using it like this i like it better.

RE: "OFFICIAL" Himoto / Redcat Racing 1/10th BUGGY
I worked on tuning my syclone today, I found out that my needle valve is supose to be set about 1 to 1 1/2 turns unscrewed from closed position, i found that in the manual on top of page ten, that is alot different then what you guys are running, i wish i had the high and low speed adjustments instead of just one needle valve, it is so hard to tune, i still dont have it but it runs good enough to flip and cartwheel and bend the shock[>:] but hey it was fun, if anyone has this engine also is there any advise you could give me, mine runs good as long as you dont go full throttle right away just slowly bring it up then it starts cutting out once in awhile, it has a no gas coming out of exhaust like before and a tank of fuel last longer than 3 min. i just cant get it dialed in. i made little adjustments and drove for a minute then made more adjustments, i ran 3 tanks in it then it got dark and is still not tuned. i might have to find someone to help me and teach me how to set this bad boy.

RE: "OFFICIAL" Himoto / Redcat Racing 1/10th BUGGY
to bad we all didnt live closer so we could actually drive em together, i dont know anyone that is into the rc hobby, so i drive alone then come back to my comp. to talk about it, would be funner to be sitting around with abunch of you guys instead of typing on my comp. but this is the best i got, i spend more time on here than flying or driving i think.

RE: "OFFICIAL" Himoto / Redcat Racing 1/10th BUGGY
See this is where i am messed up, I thought if it is way to lean then the fuel would last longer? but I have the valve set at about a 1/16 of and inch in from flush of the collar right now and the thing was spitting fuel and oil out the exhaust like mad. ok i just want to make sure on this in is rich and out is lean right, I hope so if not i might give up due to lack of brains, I would also like to say i am a dodge mechanic (at Woodhouse, some of you may have heard of it due to it is huge) and i have a yamaha yz250, rebuilt it 2 yrs ago, I am very mechanicly inclined just these thing got me all confused as of right now. I am ashamed to say i am a mechanic with the things i am saying right now, man lol

also the Idle mixture screw is located on the side of the carb, how do you adjust it when there is a brass nut and where the screw would be it is flat not sloted like the needle valve? what am i doing!!!!!!!

RE: "OFFICIAL" Himoto / Redcat Racing 1/10th BUGGY
I would offically like to nominate myself as the worst tunner in the world!!!!!!!! I have read and read the tuning post and I just cant get it down, Man my airplanes are so much easier to tune, my rustler and syclone kick my butt all over the place, I dont know what is up or down with these things anymore!!! I even made tiny adjustment and drove for awhile then it seems like bam, the thing is bogging down and barely runing, Thats when I put it up for the night, because this is a hobby that is supose to be fun and I started to not have fun towards the end. If I set my high needle valve flush with the collar the thing would run out off fuel in probly 2 min. From what i see thats where people are saying to start out, But it is probly me [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]
