RE: 80+ MPH?! I don't think so...
Are you serious????? lol. people are just unbelievable. some people have no common sence and are very funny to me. hahaha!!! so if this were true then why are there no lawsuites going on for about 80% of the things we buy? you are probably one of thos people that buys a sony xplod 1000 watt car amp and really think it pushes 1000 watts. lol. when in reality your lucky to get 400 out of it. i mentioned before about my car cd player. maybe i should sue them for saying that it pushes 45 watts a channel. come on people. Are there really that many companies that dont bend the rules a little when it comes to advertising? Maybe this is where sence comes in huh?????????? I thought these were supposed to be constructive threads. but yea i realize no matter where you go there are people that get their kicks out of bashing on others and things they dont have or like. this is where getting a life comes in. well to all, have fun, mash, or sit here and critisize whatever floats your boat.

RE: Himoto Cyclone VS Redcat Hurricane XP
himoto and redcat are the same cars. i 2 volcano sv's, a tsunami truggy, and a tornado xp. they are all 1/10 scale and i am very pleased with them. some people say they are cheap and junk but i have friends that have ofna, traxxas, losi, etc. and they work on theirs as much as i do and the speed is close. actually my tornado 1/10 is very close to the speed of my friends ofna ultra comp. alot of parts for these cars are compatible with other brands. if you plan on racing professionally i would say go with something else but if you not then i recommend them. i'm not saying these are better but i just havent seem much difference, definately dont warrant the cost difference for sure. you can get parts online for these easily and you can get alot of help from others on here as i did. i cant see paying $500-$600 bucks for something that im going to bash and for a little extra money you can hop up an mod these to be great cars. the only issue i have had with mine is the clutch bells on the 1/10 two speeds. i put a hpi on mine and its has been fine since. i really find it hard to believe that your not paying for the name in rc cars. if im wrong then this would be the only thing in the world that your not. oh and some might laugh at these til you let them run it. your local shops dont sell them and they dont like them because of the cheap prices and these cheap online cars are probably hurting alot of businesses. go to a ford dealership and talk to them about your chevy, most times your get the same result. i have been to two shops in my area and one is very willing to help anyone out and the other isnt, so where do you think my money is going to go on alot of stuff???

RE: OFFICIAL Redcat Racing TRUCK thread
no, thats not it. they have the aluminum ones but they are 25 bucks. do you have the volcano manual? its listed as part #02166 and called a rear shaft holder. the ball heads go into it and shaft goes through the center and the rear upper arm also connects to it.

RE: 80+ MPH?! I don't think so...
i got my volcano to run real close to the same speed as my stock tsunami. i put a hpi 13/18 clutch bell, two speed gear box, hpi header, and assoc. pipe on it and it is alot faster than stock. hits the jumps with authority now. i have a tornado xp, tsunami, and volcano sv, and the volcano is my favorite. it handles much better and is alot easier to control. the tornado xp is the fastest though. im going to get some video tomorrow and i will put it on youtube soon.

RE: 80+ MPH?! I don't think so...
yea, who knows. it doesnt really matter any ways. so what they put the wrong speeds on the ad. they put the wrong numbers on alot of thing you buy, thats why i threw that in about my car cd player lol. so are people not buying the stuff just because they put unreal specs on the product. you me and everyone out there with half sence about them know that they arent going to reach 80 mph just like your car cd player is not ever going to push 45 watts per channel, realistically you will get about 8 watts per channel. that goes for about 98% of all car audio and electronics period for that matter, its just about all rediculously over rated, way worse than these cars. at least you can mod and hop up these to get more speed and what not. so i guess if he who really cares if these cars do 80 mph or wont buy one because they dont should return or get rid of all their car audio and about 95% of all their other electronics and do with out. hahaaaaaaaa!!!!! case closed ROTFL!!!!!!!!

RE: 80+ MPH?! I don't think so...
yea i go through alot of front lower arms on my tornado xp too. couple times was curbs, thats a sure break there. one time i had weak radio batteries and it ran away to wedge itself under a car tire, the lower arm wasnt the only thing i broke that time lol. couple other times i did some jumps ending in some massive cartwheels. but i do also have a volcano which i have yet to break anything on it, its definately alot more durable. but tell ya what these cars are great for the money, i dont work on my cars any more then my friends do their traxxas, ofna, losi, etc. they are right beside them in speed as well. if i could see the difference, i could warrant paying 2 or 3 times what these cars cost. but they are in no way 2 to 3 times better in my mind. you can do some major mods and or hop ups with the $200 or so difference. i have a friend that bought a smartech (also a cheap car) he has had nothing but problems with it, but im not going to bash their threads about it. they might have some decent products. maybe he just got a bad car who knows. oh yea and im not a hater, maybe thats the difference. well as i say to all my rc friends, have a ball and mash. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- REDCAT tornado xp, volcano sv, tsunami

RE: Welcome Redcat Racing
ORIGINAL: spartan8892 hi i know this is a stupid question but i have not had a good exprierance with my tornado xl[:o]. i am just wondering if their is a diffrent transmision tthat i could put in mine has sucked up a rock and has been obliterated[X(] so please if their is tell me. thanks
yea, you can go with the two speed for the tornado xp on redcats site, i would also recommend the hpi 13/18 clutch bell or the three piece one with 17/22 gears, you can get this on tower hobbies. you will need bearings and or i used bushings on mine also available at tower hobbies. if you go with the 13/18 you will have to do a lil fabricating. the 13/18 will give you more lower end. i put the 13/18 and tornado xp 2 spd gear set in my volcano and i am happy with it. i still have everything stock in my tornado xp. even though i have had no trouble with the factory clutch bell in my tornado xp i wouldnt recommend it because alot of others have had trouble with them and i ruined one that i first put into my volcano in about 3 tanks of fuel. thats why i went with the hpi clutch bell. i also put an associated rpm pipe and hpi heasder on my volcano which helped a little for power and sound. look in the redcat repair and tune thread on here for some ideas and links.

RE: Redcat vehicle repair/tune FAQ
nice video bro, sorry about the pin mix up, i thought it was a 5/16. that pipe and header will make a nice difference in power and sound
thanks ehroof, i did put them on later that day and also broke out the tornado xp after it sat for a month or so and had to tune it in a lil. i took some video of them. lost my camera man though lol. but it shows a lil of the durability of the volcano. i was reading some threads and saw people bashing redcats, mainly in the speed thread. they say they are junk. lmfao. i guess these are people that dont have one or havent been around them. i have friends that have other brands like traxxas, ofna, etc. and they are really is no difference in speed and durability. well i guess the difference that i see is they can say they have a major brand and paid 500 or so bucks on them. the tornado xp hangs right along with the ofna ultra comp which is even a 1/8 buggy with a .26 motor. i guess the only thing i can see is his tires a bigger and that helps off road. he even has a tunes pipe and my xp is completely stock except for the front shock tower, i bent the original one. oh yea, which anyone upgrading this, you will need longer ball screws that fasten the shock to the tower as the factory ones are too short and the nut comes off. any lhs will have them. ehroof, i have a tsunami coming and it should be here this weekend or early next week, any suggestions. i know im changing the clutch bell for sure. and will be getting the assoc. rpm pipe and hpi header for it and also for my xp. thanks again for all the help. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LYMflVHOls http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3E-TRByOtk

RE: Redcat vehicle repair/tune FAQ
hey bryon, ehroof has helped me alot and he will be able to give you great advice. i have a tornado xp and i have ran almost a gallon of fuel through it and it still has the original clutch spring on it. i have read that others have had issues with them though. i would definately change the clutch bell though. the stock ones are a lil crappy. the lower the t# on the clutch bell the more lower end you will get. i got mine from tower hobbies. i havent seen the single speed .16 run so i dont really have a suggestion for you there. i run mine pretty hard and the thing i break the most is the front lower arms which sometimes i end up losing the drive axle cuz it goes flying lol. having more than one car helps from having down time so you paid 200 for 2 xls which is a unbeatable deal in my mind. i look at it like you got two for the price of one cuz anything else is at least that for just one. i know if you order stuff from tower or redcat they are pretty much a flat rate so you can stock up on some stuff to save on shipping in the future. let me know how that car runs as i am thinking about getting one of the xls for my daughter. thanks.

RE: Redcat vehicle repair/tune FAQ
hey ehroof, thanks for the help. the 5/16 pin was too big had to use like a 5/32. the 5/16 wouldnt even fit inside the clutch bell. and after all the work it payed off cuz its great. much much better than stock. i have a couple minuite clip, its not long cuz my camera battery went dead on me. i need a lil more room to really open it up too. im putting a assoc. rpm pipe and hpi header on too. i will have many more clips coming soon. we should get a thread going of videos of everyones rides with a list of all mods and upgrades. that would be great. you da man ehroof. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xe_UqM2EkHc ------------- tornado xp, volcano sv, and tsunami should arrive this weekend.[:D]

RE: Redcat vehicle repair/tune FAQ
ORIGINAL: ehroof it should work good, i have that bell in my tsunami and it made a big difference, its not lagging anymore in either gear, has alot of low end.
got a question for you ehroof, how do you keep the screw from coming lose as the washer goes agaisnt the clutch bell causing the screw to become lose. the last bushing pertrudes from the clutch bell so there is a tiny bit of play between the washer and the bell so the bell rolls freely. other than that it runs pretty nice, maybe still needing a tad bit more lower end. i hav a ass. rpm pipe and hpi header, think that will help if i put it on? also im just using bushings inside as the bearing that i bought for the clutch bell twisted right away. im thinking that i am going to go with bearings instead of the bushings. im getting a little confused and frustrated at this project lol.
ORIGINAL: ehroof he mash, i would have to take it apart, and i am busy and cant do it today, usually the pins are in the hardware section in pull out draws, not hanging on hooks on display. i dont know what number home depot used for them.
thats ok, whenever you get a chance. i looked where they have the cotter pin drawers in hardware. maybe that home depot dont have them. im going to keep on the search at other places. all it is is a metal tube that the screw goes through to extend the shaft correct? will the screw still reach the thread on the shaft? im going to try a search online to see who would possibly have it. thanks again. enjoy the holliday.
ORIGINAL: ehroof you dont need the bearings, its just an option, just get the tension pin and cut it down and your set to go.
thanks, i am actually putting this in my volcano sv. im looking to get a little more out of the truck as it seemed a little slow stock. i installed the two speed for the tornado and the redcat 2 spd clutch bell went to crap after a couple tanks of fuel. it was fast but was lacking a lil lower end probably due to the bigger tires. thats why i went with the 13/18. i figured that would be about right. so i should actually get more lower end and top speed than the original single speed. i will let you know how it works out, possibly get some video if its does what i am hoping for. ---------------------------------------- Tornado XP Volcano SV

RE: Redcat vehicle repair/tune FAQ
The hurricane and the quake are great 1/8ths right out of the box. They dont need anything changed right off the bat. You dont need a 2 speed in them. You wouldn't be able to control it lol... The quake wheelies good to after break in.
i was just wondering about the two speed because i have a friend that has a ofna ultra comp w/ .26 motor and it just doesnt seem to have the top end. i actually think the tornado xp would be a good match up on a drag. i will have to line them up one day and see. just curious as to how it ran. i have a volcano sv and it was fun but a lil slow so i installed a tornado 2 sp in it and it was quick but needed more lower end. the clutch bell went out in it and i ordered a hpi 13t 18t for more lower end. cant wait to get it tuned to my likings. well before the clutch bell went it was decent. hit a straight away on the street and let off and turn and it does like 2 360s. i will let you guys know how it works out when its all done. anyone know where i can get tsunami wheels at or something similar as i would like to try them out on my tornado, the factory wheels seem to be a bit small making it squirly at the track. thanks everyone.

RE: Redcat vehicle repair/tune FAQ
no, bought both of them new. the bells and shoes are different on the tornado and volcanos. i just put the bell and gears from the tornado onto the volcano. its definately faster but needs a lil more low end. any ideas? the stock volcano dif gear stripped and the truck was a lil slow from the get go so i tried this. im thinking maybe this had something to do with the material used on the shoes of the volcano. as you can see in the pics the volcano bell is a different material than the tornados two speed one. the tornado is great at the track and not so great around the house if you live in town like me, as the clearance is an issue and i recommend keeping a couple front lower arms etc. in stock lol. the volcano as i have gathered from my experience and what i have read from others has a gear issue, which is probably easily fixed, but i was a little bent that it stripped out in 3 days. its not very fast, but its fun and seems to be pretty durable and is not so great at the track but is great for around the block and mashn. i really like how it handles. alot easier to control than the tornado. im thinking getting a hurricane, if anyone has one let me know how it is, the goods and the bads, i wonder why it doesnt come with 2sp option. thats a nice thing with the tornado. i went to the track last weekend and it was great, needs bigger wheels i think but i was very impressed. there was a guy there with a losi 1/8 truggy and the tornado was very very close to it speed wise especially on the straight away. i let him run my car and he was impressed. i have done alot of comparing and have friends that have other brands and they have to work on theirs as much as if not more than i do. i think the redcat is the best bang for the buck by far. does anyone know who actually makes the redcat/himoto cars? i think they are nearly identical to kyosho. if you have a hurricane compare it with the mp7.5. maybe it will help someone looking for compatible parts for either. heres a couple pics, sorry if their not that great. theres one pic of a hurricane, one of a mp 7.5 and the parts pic is for the mp7.5.
