RE: Newb PLease Help
ORIGINAL: celcius thanks dave. i have set it back to factory i ust thought that was procedure anytime u changed anything. i did just a few seconds ago post somewhere in here that i replaced the the glowplug wire and it started fine. i still have that issue with the truck only starting in the air. my brakes seem ok the seem to release when i do. as for a clutch shoe spring. i have no real idea wht ur talkin about or where to look on the truck for it. lol im learning as i go. but is this complicated issue? and are there any easy test to know if mine is really bad whn i find it? again thanks dave.
Well, the clutch shoes and springs are located inside the the clutch bell. U have to take the engine off the truck to get the clutch bell to come off. Once u get the clutch bell off, u should see 2 "shoes"(2 half-circle shaped plastic parts) with a spring wrapped aroiund it. U wanna check to make sure the clutch spring is not bent out of whack or anything like that, and also u wanna check the shoes to make sure no parts of them have come apart or anything. If u have further questions, just post away and we will do our best to help. :)

RE: What will the next Traxxas Vehicle Be?
ORIGINAL: rccarman81
ORIGINAL: del1969 Traxxas will be releasing a big-block motor, a trx .26, and a new line of trucks for it, all of them revo, and maxx type The trucks will remain about the same just beefed up, for the extra power. The transmiter will also be upgraded to dsm 2.4ghz which they have now, but the controller will not look the same. So if you are thinking about a new nitro, wait till after summer, around the fall. They will still have the 3.3 but for the smaller trucks. Save your money, these new trucks will not be cheap.
Where did you find out about this? Any pics? Any links to the vehicles?
I too am very interested to know where u got this information, and also if the information here is actually TRUE, or if its possibly just a rumor or 2 going around. I mean heck yea that would be SWEET!!!! if they FINALLY went 1/8 scale truck or buggy(nitro of course) and put something like a .26 or bigger in it. I guess only time will really tell as far as this goes; but I know I for one will definitely be watching to see what traxxas has up their "sleeve"....

RE: 1/2 throttle load up
ORIGINAL: trink2030 Just got my revo 3.3, love it. have about 8 tanks through it and I feel like the low and high are adjusted well. But I have a problem at about 1/2 throttle, if I run the truck at half throttle for 5 or more seconds it starts to bog down, I then give it a blip of full and a puff of blue smoke comes out and goes back to running fine again. I've searched and found that it may be lean, but that doesn't sound right....could someone clarify? Oh, I called traxxas because I the truck wouldn't move unless I was at half throttle or more. The guy at traxxas said it was fine to run the 3.3 at 1/2 or more the first tank because sometimes they just won't move. When I went to adjust the low speed on tank 6 I noticed that it was 3.5 out instead of the 1.5-1.75, it was flush with the outside part of the metal, not the inside where it should have been. After I got that back right it ran and idled great....oh well. Thanks,
Well, like some of the others have mentioned; it soudns like the carb just needs to be "cleaned out" of fuel by doing what u already have; and giving it full throttle. Believe or not my revo 3.3 with stock 3.3 engine will do the same thing u are describing sometimes at 1/2 throttle as well; even when I know both needles are set properly. So I think it is just pretty much the "nature" of these engines to do that from time to time; even if some do it more ofthen than others. Although indeed u could try leaning out the hsn just a very slight hair or 2 to see if that helps at all. Either way good luck with it man. :)

I agree with Larry above. U should also make sure to double check what condition the truck is in BEFORE considering buying it. Even though the guys says it was broken in properly; how do u know 100% certain that u can trust what he's telling ya? U should also ask him to run the truck for u BEFORE totally 100% agreeing to trade him for it becuase these days, well, u sometimes can just never be too careful when someone tells u something, unless u have the actual proof that its been broken in properly. Just some thoughts here is all....good luck in whatever u decide to do though man. :)

RE: Is there any reason to buy a better air filter?
ORIGINAL: sokar I currently have a T Maxx Pro .15, and the Pro .15 air filter is very tiny. I do take good care of it (wash and oil it regularly), however would I benefit from upgrading the air filter to a multiple stage air filter or a Motorsaver filter? If so, what would the benefits be?
] Actually, yes, I think u would do good to upgrade to possibly a motor saver filter because not only does it provide what seems to me to be a bit better overall protection from dirt, etc.(although the protection is usually only as good as u oil the inner foam on a motor saver). in addition, it also provides more airflow, so u are gonna get a bit more power overall. But just remember, if u upgrade to the motor saver, u have to remember to oil the inner foam I do believe(If I am rememebring correctly). Other than that u should be good to go as far as a motorsaver goes.

RE: is this hobby dying or is it just me
ORIGINAL: freez I wouldnt say its dead , I think it may be more the economy , it has hit everyone hard . People are just a little more frugal when it comes to spending
U are probaly right on this one freez; its most likely the "lovely" economy that has well for lack of better terms; "bitten us all hard right in the butt" so to speak. Hopefully though things will pick back up eventually once things start turning around a bit. I know I for one can attest to the economy as being part of a temporary(at least I hope) kinda "downfall" if u will; as I have definitely had less $ to put towards the hobby than I would otherwise like to be able to to have. The one thing that does seem kinda weird to me; is that when I talked to the manager of one of the lhs's that I frequent last week about the economy and how it has affected the r/c hobby in general; the thing that surprised me is that they really have not had a terrible downfall in business on the r/c side of things. He said their business when it comes to people buying new "toys" has actually not slowed down as much as they thought it otherwise might have. So at that point all I could think of is that well I guess even in a pretty lousy economy....when people want their hobbies......they WANT!!!....their hobbes. :)

Also, If u are at all in doubt of the needle settings, which from the sounds of things I probably would be a bit; re-set the needles to defaults and try re-tuning it from there and see if that does anything for ya.

RE: Traxxas at Pep Boys?
ORIGINAL: DaveG55 I've said it before and I'll say it again. I don't care who sells hobby grade RC's. I don't care if every Wal-Mart, Ace Hardware and Toys-R-Us in the country start selling them. I don't care if Kroger and Publix sell them. In fact I hope they do. Maybe then the prices will come down to a reasonable level. For the life of me I cannot understand why a tiny, uncomplicated nitro engine costs more than the engine on my lawn mower or more than my entire weedeater or blower. I want to know why 4 little bits of rubber tires cost nearly as much as a full size tire. I want RC companies to make a profit but they can do that by selling in quantity (w/o losing quality) as well as they can by selling a few overpriced ones.
I kinda happen to agree with u Dave; on everything u mentioned. Also though, they need to start making things even MORE affordable for people that are on tight budgets that may want to start getting into the hobby as well. I too could never figure out why stuff such as gallon of nitro fuel costs wayy more than a gallon of regular car gasoline does...I mean yes I know its just the way the hobby is and whatnot; but still, some of these things really do have to make me wonder if these parts companies, etc.(R/C) are out there just to make a extra buck or 2; or if they are really out there to service the customer as well....just my .02 here...

I concur with the responses that said the Revo and the Savage. I have the 3.3 Revo; and its been a great all around truck for me. Ive bashed the living u know what outta it and it just keep coming back for more. However, the Savage from what Ive seen and heard, is also a EXCELLENT basher of a truck. Both Traxxas and HPI make excellent products. But the choice is obviously totally up to you as to what route u decide to go...good luck on deciding man. :)

RE: T-Maxx transmission problem…
I too would probably most likely want to take the time to open it up and have a look inside to make sure no gears, etc. and the like are stripped out. At this point Im thinking its possibly one of the primary gears that might be causing it to "hang up" when switching from forward to reverse. Also, check the "throw" on the silver forward/reverse shaft that comes out of the trans case because that too can cause it to get stuck...
ORIGINAL: sokar In my opinion, a problem inside the trans is highly unlikely. Is there something that can cause this that is not: Misalignment Engine mount crack Faulty engine or engine mount screws Tranny issues Chassis crack Clutch bell movement I've ruled out almost all of these. RE: need help
Now that I have read the last post here and whatnot, I would indeed say go back and check for possible air leaks, because it is possible that air is entering somewhere, causing the engine to lean itself out. Take the carb completely off the base that it screws into and check the 1 or 2 o-rings that are most likely there, check them for any possible nics, or tears, as that will indeed allow air in. Also, its a good idea to take the engine off the chassis, take the backplate off and look at the gasket that goes inside the backplate, make sure it is completely in tact, or that too will cause a leak; check to make sure the exhaust header is sealing to the back of the engine nice and snug and if not, I would get a new manifold spring and/or exhaust coupler. Also the last thing, take the fuel tank off, put it in a sinkful of water and blow into either one of the 2 fuel lines that are connected to the tank, u should see bubbles blowing out the other fuel line; but if u see bubbles coming from any other spot such as the seam where the 2 halves of the tank come together, or if u see them coming from the lid area of the tank, chances are the seal on the tank lid is shot; u can try at that point to get a new seal, but if u cant get that, u might have to buy a whole new tank, which in the long run might just be better anyways....

RE: Kyosho GXR28 ENGINE TROUBLE!!!
ORIGINAL: cstyker Hi! I bought a slightly used Inferno ST (truggy) with the GXR28SG engine and just started it up last night for a few minutes and quickly noticed the same problems described here - stalling, fuel coming out of exhaust etc... I'm using an OS A5 plug and 20% fuel, outside temp around 0 Celsius. Should I consider changing my orings? What are the differences between the GXR28SG and the GXR28? Should I try tuning as follows? idle - .5 to .9 mm out LSN - .4mm from flush HSN - 2.3 out from closed I just want the thing to be reliable and not have to re-tune every hour! Thanks!
I wouldn't necessairly say that u would have to change the o-rings. The only reason u should have to do that is if u test for air leaks in the carb and u find out that in fact there is one or more leaks. THEN, its obviously a good idea to change the o-rings in the high speed needle and the 1 or more o-rings that sit on the carb neck...as for having to re-tune it every hour, u should not have to re-tune all that often with the exception of the fact that when the weather changes drastically, or even just a small amount; the settings u had previously set and ran with may no longer continue to work because of the change in those "enviromental" variables....

Last what is the difference between the model 5308 and 5309? Thanks, John
Like one of the others already mentioned; the "old" version with reverse, does not have waterproof servos or electronics, but I do believe the "new" version is at least somewhat waterproof, so long as u get the waterproof servos, or u "waterproof" the servos if u have the old version. Personally imo, I would not recommend going through mud puddles, etc because even if the servos are "waterproofed", they could still not be totally sealed and something could happen...
ORIGINAL: rclovers Thats cool everyone has their own opinion, and yes I've had engines run up in temp like that and they run great! some run better at temps like that! but I'd rather loose just alittle power (depending if I am running on track or not) and be able to run 15 to 20 gallons threw it, then only being able to run maybe 7 to 10 gallons threw it before it hits the scrapyard! I had a OFNA Blackheaded .28 and I got over 20 gallons run threw it before I rebulit it, and it was still running fine before I rebuilt.
