RE: MAN reports on Airtronics SD-10G 2.4Ghz radio system
Can any of the Airtronics team that are testing the radio tell us what the tranny feels like in your hands? I have the 8 channel 2.4 and it feels like a plastic toy but I knew that going in, but for 200.00 it's a heck of a sport radio with a solid link even in the Az heat we deal with. Thanks, maustin

RE: *Airtronics RD8000 2.4 GHz*
Follow this: 1. Turn on transmiter 2. While holding the bind button on the rec - turn rec on - light will blink slowly - let go now.... 3. While rec is blinking slowly - press bind key on trans. It ( the rec) will flash fast and then go solid. 4. Your done

RE: *Airtronics RD8000 2.4 GHz*
I've been flying mine pretty steady for about a month also. The antenna swivel moment is still fairly tight when moving into the stowed position. I've taken the back off my tranny to tighten spring tension on the sticks but did not notice if the antenna can be tightened or not. It's easy to remove the back and antenna module, might be worth a look see. maustin

Scrapped it is !!! New battery on order plus I'm am looking at battery tender to go with it. Seems like that would be the ticket for these batteries lasting a while with low maint. maustin

Gell Cell heats up and blows wall wart charger
I have a 2 yrs old gell, 7Amp starter battery that recently heated up and fried the wall wart charger. I've used this setup for years and all of a sudden this happens. I take out my backup wall wart from days gone by and it proceeds to do the same thing. What's going on here? The battery reads slightly over 13 volts but all of a sudden burns up chargers. Any ideas? Thanks, maustin

Just rec'd my Airtronics 8 ch 2.4 and find I need to tighten the stick springs to my liking. Took out the 8 screw holding the back on now need to remove the antenna. The instr don't really say how to do this and I hate pulling/twisting stuff without knowing. Anyone done this and care to share the secret of properly removing the antenna? Thanks, Mike

Hi Mark, What your target weight on this plane with the OS140 ? I assume you will go with a painted fuse and film on wings and stab. maustin [8D]

Hey Robert, Nice setup !! I like the cabinet storage, that will be handy for keeping everything at arms reach. I've been working on a fuse jig myself. A knockoff of Pete Cosky's design. I'll send you a pic when it's done. Hope to get me a BM V3 ordered around Christmas. Should be a fun build. maustin

8103 Flight Mode for Dual Rates
Danny, I'm sure this question is somewhere in here but can't find the specific answer. Can a 8103 have a high dual rate for ele and ail setup on the 3 position flap switch or will I need to upgrade to a 9303 for that function? I'd like to have one switch for snap throws that's easy to access. Thanks, Mike

RE: DR Jekyll 2 RTF
Robert, Good to hear your flight went well. I would expect nothing less with Troy assisting. I fly mostly on Sunday afternoons at Sun Valley field and on occation at Superstition in Mesa. Look forward to meeting you at a contest one day. Lancaster is a possibility if I can swing a Friday off before. It's about a 6hr drive from my end of town. I flew Intermediate last year and have been practicing Advanced this summer. Still need lots of polish though!! I'm currenly flying a FocusII with YS160DZ and JR radio. Next project hopefully will be a Black Magic v3. I really enjoy the building -- takes me back to my roots,ie" pre ARF days. Ha Mike Austin

RE: Xtremelink
Gentleman, I have been doing like a lot of folks, reviewing, studing and reading till my eyes hurt on 2.4. Has anyone had experience with carbon type fuses using XPS? I have a Aeroslave pattern plane that is a carbon/mat/fiberglass material fuse and with my 8103 72 mgh pcm I always run my antanea out the bottom to avoid interference. Will XPS have a problem with this? Thanks, maustin

RE: Wow
KGSS28, I owned the Webra that was commented on in this post several years ago. Horizon told me the Webra pump was a problem due to inconsistencies in quality control. That's why some ran good while others made you pull your hair. I have learned from flying with an expert engine man here in Phoenix always run a 1oz header tank on all pumped engines. This takes some of the load off the pump and makes for a more consistent run down to the last oz of fuel. I have incorp this into my latest OS140 setup and I can tell the difference in the way the engine performs. The engine seems to strain less probably because the fuel is pulled from the header tank 3 inches from the carb instead of 12 inches from the CG location. This would be a easy thing to try vrs tinkering with the pump settings. I've been there and done that on a Webra and ended up solving nothing. Good luck and remember - make small adjustments at a time if you mess with the pump. Webra's are very intollerant of heat so make sure your cowling provides excellent airflow. M Austin
