RE: A123 4600 6.6v
Hello Guys I may have the problem solved as long as the packs perform OK.I hooked up the 2.11v pack(6.6v) to my Older LRP Quantum charger and hit it with 8 amps .This is a Nim and Nicad charger only but does not care about a low voltage.I only charge until the voltage came up slightly over 6v and had put just under 200mah into it.Then I stuck it onto the Lith Ion profile charger, away it went charging fine so far. So Zeta30 I did not get around to the Zip charging but I found a quick way to get it all going .Thanks

RE: A123 4600 6.6v
?? Don't understand charge them at 3.6 Volts. These cells are to be charged to 3.6 VDC per cell, making your 2S2P charge voltage to be 7.2 VDC. If you are charging both series cells at 3.6 VDC, your charger will indead shut down real quick. Nominal voltage of two series A123 cells will be around 6.6 VDC, if they have been off of the charger for a few weeks or so. Yes but when you only have 2.1volts in your 6.6v pack you charger will not let you charge. It will tell you voltage to low.So I put it on 1s to try and bring the voltage up some. How else do you think I should try and get it up.I do understand that the pack is 6.6v but if it won't charge tell me what else to try.I was just trying things.

RE: A123 4600 6.6v
I am sorry if I am wrong but you are saying to try and charge just the low cells and I do not understand how you would do that without cutting open the packs? Thanks ad I will look at zip charging.Dennis

RE: A123 4600 6.6v
These are a premade Hypersonic packs, 2s2p 4600.I do not want to cut into them or anything like that until I can make some contact with someone about warranty.I did charge them at 1s 3.6v and it went up in vlts but only took 3mah and then the charger shut down saying charge complete. It was down to 2.11v in a minute or so.This is total pack voltage and not 1 cell. And as for a bad taste ,It is more a Ebay store bad taste as I am still awaiting reply and hopfully another (good) pack from this online store(shorted me 1 pack).I am really tired of our sell ,but do not backing anything up system.I have been running TrakPower lipo's and the one thing that was great is they told the hobby store that they could warranty any problems with packs.I never had to use this but it is comforting. And yes I have no idea why I am trying something different since the TrakPowers have worked well for me for almost 2 years. Thanks

RE: A123 4600 6.6v
Well I did not want to say much on here but I bought 6 new 6.6v packs and three of them are in the 3 and 2volt range.I cannot get them to come up.In there directions it states if voltage is lower than 3volt per cell to contact them at customersupport@A123racing.com but this does not work and neither does there web site.I tried starting a charge on the one pack and setting it for 1s.It took 3 amp and says it was charged? There are some cell issues. The three other packs are all fine. This is my first time with A123 .I have only ran Lipoly ,Nicad and Nimh cells .I have never had any problems with batteriel over a 30 plus year period until these.

It states that it is a 7.2volt 600MAH charger so it is going to just charge at that rate constant. You while have to unplug it after charging or it while overcharge.

RE: 1/2A club racer (Looking for one)
Hello Remby that is about what we are thinking. We are starting of with a single design plane, the Ace 400.We can scratch build it or kit build it but it must maintain the true outside shape and dimensions.Airfoil must be unaltered. As for engines we are letting any cox up to the TD051 and any Norvel BigMig 049-061 so you know what most will be flying in short order!I was also thinking the same on the fuel 25% nitro cap.We want to start of simple so no one has a huge advantage ect.Close racing is fun.Winning or losing by a mile always gets old fast.I would think before the year is over we will have a 1/2A outlaw class starting.Should be fun. Thanks for the info and any more that is coming.[8D]

1/2A club racer (Looking for one)
Hello are club is looking for a fun basic 1/2A club racer. We have decided on a .061 engine limit.Cox TD and Norvel Big migs are the chosen engines. We have been leaning towards the Ace 400 kit as it is simple and could be easily scratch built ect.We have no pylon racing experience but lots of good pilots and builders.Does anyone know of a better plane or a true club racer? Thanks for any help.Dennis

RE: good prop after evo trainer?
For something like the LT 40 I would go with less pitch and keep the diameter up.You well have better thrust and lets face it a LT40 is not designed for max speed.Try a 11x5 APC or a 11.5x 5 Bolly clubman. It well still be fast but it well also jump into the air on takeoff and vertical way better.Vertical performance well far exceed a 10-6 or 10-7.Just my 2 cents.Dennis
