IS the RTR going to be breaking on my all the time, should I spend ther extra $300 or so buck to get the kit... Oh I already have the Spektrum radio
well you need the following for the kit engine (approx 300 or so) servos (the stock spektrum servos wont do) these are going to total you almost $200 reciever (if you need to buy one, $80) hump packs (stock up on a couple of these they are very worth it) paint job for the bodsy starter box ($100-$130 with battery, charger, etc, get the ofna chrome top 1/8 scale its awsome) and a bit of time to build the thing i spent over $2k just to get mine running, but its good for now

RE: .21 or .26 for 1/8 scale Buggy?
ORIGINAL: aangelet I have to agree with Dawman on this one. I've run quite a few engines trying to find one over .21 that would give me what I'm looking for. My local club allows you to run what you have. It tried the Sportwerks .26, the O.S. VG30, Mach 427, and a few others. When it came down to all around performance, the .21s did the best in buggies. They rev more quickly, typically are able to turn higher RPMs (more speed), and give you better runtimes. I'm running an RB Worlds S7IIX3. I'm always being asked what it is (I have a non stock head, so you can't tell) by the guys with the .26, .27, and .30 engines, because they can't even hope to keep up on the straights. Of course, the Worlds is typically a $300+ engine. It depends on what you want to spend. Some good engines that I don't think anyone would dispute are: O.S. RG - Costs around $110. Not the fastest, but has a great bottom end, really good for tight tracks and bashing. Super easy to tune and really wakes up at about 250 degrees F. Most of the guys at my local track run this engine. Novarossi P5X (in any flavor, Nova, Top, or Rex) - Costs around $280. This engine is a beast with a great bottom end and mid range. Pretty good top. Great for tight to medium tracks. Very reliable and easy to tune. It's also not very pipe sensitive like the RB. Novarossi T21BF (I think) - The budget line from Nova. Costs about $150 to $180. Really under rated engine. Great bottom end and mid range. Not like the P5, but it does't cost nearly as much either. Very easy to tune and reliable. RB Worlds S7II or S7III - This is my personal favorite. I'm not a very good driver and it has a bit less bottom than the P5, but has more top. It's easier to control on a tight track for me. Easy to tune, but a bit pipe sensitive. It goes for around $300+, you could opt for the plain vanilla S7, which is also an excellent engine for about $80 less. Ofna Hyper 21 8 port race - A real sleeper that is over looked. It's cheap for a performance engine at about $150 and runs really well. The drawback is that you have to put an O.S. RG carb on it to get it to really shine. These engines are dirt cheap to rebuild. I think I got my last piston, sleeve and conrod on ebay for about $50. These are not the only good engines, but are ones that I've had personal experience with. I own all but the Novarossi T21BF, but have driven cars with that engine. I've had very good experiences with all of these. You could pick one and you won't be disappointed, unless you go with the Hyper. You will need to replace the carb on it as the stock one sucks.
i agree with dawman and you also i have the same theory, 21 are lack in accel, 26-28 are lack in high end and in order to fix the lacking, for a 21, run a lowend pipe (jp-1, hardcoat for raceing) and a 26-28 run a high end pipe (jp-2) and if u are strickly racing, go a 21 class and check out rb and novarossi if u are just for fun go for a 26-28 (i recoemdn the sportwerks, dirt cheap only $130 brand new w/carb) pm me with other questions u might have im all about these engines im constantly taking mine apart to see how they work. the sportwerks 26 will push a buggy in the higher 40's (ex the sportwerks rtr buggy) also if u go with a rb or nova, they will last you 10+ gallons and arent too hard to tune what i do is, spend money for racing and go mid class for bashing

well u should be specific on which model the tm928 (7 port) and the tm 728 for the savage mostly (5 port i think) also a 28 will give u low end mostly so if u plan to get it put a top end pipe on it (ex a jp-2) and they dont get great fuel economy but i only run 21's (even though my buggy has a 26) and with a 26 in a buggy i can get pretty much about 15mins a run woops i just read ur signature and u already have it lol u must have the 928 hows it run?

bad exsperience. i would like kit tips for the next time
hey all. i finnaly got my crt kit. $#@% was it hard! i mean everyone says its easy and im 15 and it was my first kit but im a little upset with myself because i am paying my friends alot of money to get it running but they know what there doing. but i want to build the factory team cr buggy later this year or next season. i want to build it this time by myself or with one of those friends around me to do the hard parts. what do you say are good tips? like any tips? painting, organizing the parts, tire gluin etc. i also broke 2 parts in my attempt to build. the disk brake and the front/rear drive cup. i cant find them in stock anywear! this might be a pointless thread but id ike to see what you guys say about building kits. oobviosly its the age (im like 1 of the few 15 year old truggy kit newbies) but anything that you want to say please put it here. my parents werent mad (luckily, becuz i spend too much money to even count!) but they said its cuz im too young? i really want to know. i mean its interesting because i completely had to have my friends dissassemble the whole chassis and they had to redo the diffs and mostly everything. i was very embaresd too. and when i rebuild my mayhem diffs (not rebuilt, but just took them apart and reoild them to my liking) and shocks too it worked as if it was the day i broke her in! and without instructions too. btw i really need my crt body painted and i need to find the trinity maxx 2 stage tire foams (retails for $18 but outa stock on tower and other places) i appreciate the help and i hope ill do better next time also my friend who is fixing mine, built a cr factory team in 5 hours with his friend. he put the nova plus 5 in it and i was there when he broke it in. it was jaw dropping to see that motor run in breakin! started like a dream and when he gave it gas it really had the torque becuz i saw the starter box top plate moving. and one more thing, i am awsome with taking apart these small engines too. they work perfectly even better after i do work on them. im just so puzzled why this had to happen. it is a bummer. thanks all
ORIGINAL: SELWA If you have the money now and what to spend it get a FG. SO many models to choose from with over 15 years in the industry. If you want to what until the HPI comes out , gets truley tested by consumers then wait. It really depends on what you want. This question has been asked so many times on this forum there should be a counter for it. Also depends what you like and how much you want to spend. Heck you can even get a 4wd kit now. I have 2 FG's and one has over $3000 into it and the other has close to $4000.
hpi might havfe some minor issues since there into the large scale for only a few months but it is cheaper than most models id wait for the new fg line to come out there really nice

RE: lsp-r arr vs. jammin x1crt
well if i were you id get the lsp 1 u have parts support (even though its strong somewhere u might break somethin) 2 its preassembled so not much time is needed to prep it (put ur radio gear and motor in, and paint the body) 3 its a lot cheaper than a crt too (if ur the young rc'er like me im 15, we dont have large budgets and this is a fact from me) i suggest goin with hitec servos (5 years warrenty on all parts i think) and im not being negative but this is wat ive heard the airtronics servos have gave out and for repair you have to send it in to the company and they call you and give you an exspensive fee like $50 or so i have the hitec 5997tg hi torque servo (i think its digital and about 181oz torque) and i put it in my buggy to try it out adn im keepin it in my buggy because its such a nice servo so ill get a second one for my truggy i have a super high speed servo too that im just keepin for the truggy also id get a few (not one or two) hump packs i have 3 currently so ill be able to keep up at those long race days also id not worry bout upgrades now and someone said that it already has the stuff ull need i have a novarossi p421b that will be run in the truggy
ORIGINAL: noximus well, this is probably a topic that has come up in the past, but many have their own opinions, so i will state my own, as far as engines, i like the novarossi/rex P5, its not too much and it definately doesnt have too little, its also smooth and dead easy to tune.. and as far as servos go..its also debatable..i used my Airtronics 94358 for my past three races..it has worked great for me so far.. some people like the V-spec, and some people have had nightmares with the V-spec..i have yet to hear anything negative about the P5.. as far as servos go..there is a bunch to choose from that will work great. hope that helps.
i agree as i have a crt being built with a novarossi p421b in it (8 port 21, not the p5) but its a rex as servos are i have the hitec 5997tg i think it is rated at 180 give or two oz torque and for throttle i have a hitec ultra digital high speed servo (not sure which specific one) btw, i have not tried out any of these yet but i put the steering servo in my buggy and its qiuete impressive over the jr 590 model i suggest for motors go between nova, nova rex, rb etc for servos (my opinion) hitec because i think there the company that has a 5 year warrenty on them so thats a huge plus. ill always go hitec amainhobbies has good prices and a big selection, i ordered all my stuff from them and it was outstanding service. i ordered something wrong (my fault) and i called them, the call was no more than 5 minutes, very respnsive, polit, etc.. so i sent it back. good lucks
