RE: Hobby Lobby Telesport build
About lightening it up. Tony W. <<And one guy in this thread suggested building it lighter; I plan on cutting some holes in it, what else can be done to lighten it up? >> Is the wood in the kit heavy? e.g. more than 10#/ sq.ft.? Cutting holes in the stab may help if the wood is heavy. Better to change the wood altogether. I have cut round holes in fuse sides, and when weighed the amount was very little weight saved but easy to weaken the structure. If you are going tp use a heavy 4 stroke in the nose, you may have no balance problems. In the RC Reports review, the plane, with a 60 engine, came out at 5 lbs. 3 oz. and a WL of 22. That is pretty good and it will fly better in the wind too. Dan

RE: Any one remenber the Little Swell by Ken Willard
Yes I do. I only have the copy of the MAN 6-65 mag article. I hope to make a full size plan from it and scratch build one. I have a PAW 55 or an Astro 010 brushless that should fly it well. I did a similar thing with another of Ken's designs the Showboat from RCM 11-88. There have been 2 planes built from my homebrew plan. Both fly well. Mine has flown exclusively on diesel power so far. The second one is flying with an electric. If you have a spare copy of the plan for the Lil Swell, I would love to obtain one ;^) Pls PM me at mcledan@yahoo.com I hope to build the Drake(no ref.) and the Duckling (MB 6-82) some day too. RE: BEST GLUE
Just a note about Titebond and similar wood glues. The real test is when you have a bad landing needing repairs. Inspecting the glue joints can tell you a lot. Some of these glues will actually crack because they dry brittle. A very simple test I use to evaluate a new bottle of wood glue is to place a smear about 1 to 2 inches across on a piece of waxed paper and let it air dry for at least a day or two. Then check if it bends and cracks or bends and is flexible. I like to use the flexible ones for best long term results. You will be surprised at the results you get if you round up the bottles of glue that you have and try this test. Cheers Dan

The message keeps getting dumped and not sent with the pic. If you want to see it send me a PM etc. Sorry. Dan Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
