RE: redcat 1/10 shortcourse?
I have some pictures you can compair them with. The Vortex is a great value. Lots of bang for your buck. The brushless is 4X4 and cost about same as the stock RTR 2WD Slash. I have had one for over a year now and love bashing aroubd with it. Hope these Pix help out

RE: aftershock/backdraft 8e big dissapointment need help
Well since the Aftershock weighs twice as much as the slash and is 4 wheel drive so there are many more parts that can break. I have 2 Slashes and bought the Aftershock 6 months ago. Sure its had some problems but what RC off road dual lipo truck thats RTR does not? If you have 17 years under your belt I am confused as to why you don't have a AE SC8 electric or the OFNA dual lipo kit. Redcats are mainly for people who are just starting up with the hobby and don't (or want to) spend alot on of money on Race Track Quality cars and trucks. Mine has served me well and I admit it needs to be "hopped-up" if you plan on going to your local race track. That being said you can't find a faster Short Course truck that is srtaight out of the box with no modifications for about $300

RE: Redcat Sumo's
Yes I have one. They are lots of fun but not real fast but you can upgrade the motor real cheap. They are great for a backyard "mini track"

RE: Redcat Aftershock 8E build
I can't wait to see your paint job. I am upgrading mine for the track as well so your information was helpfull. I am keeping the original body but converted it to the actual Geiser Bros. edition SC truck driven by Jeff Geiser. I designed there logo a few years back and proposed the idea to Rick and Jeff Geiser and they liked the Idea. I would strongly urdge you to upgrade your servo and steering linkage if you plan on some steep multiple jumps (3 or more in a row) at you local track. I also have installed a heat shrink and cooling fan for the motor. Here are a couple of pictures you might want to see.

RE: Avalanche XP Wheels
You can order just the chrome wheels (part #89106c) or get the tire and wheel (part#89105c) on Redcat's web site just go to parts search and enter the part# and it should take you right to it. Hope this helps.

RE: Thank you to everyone we saw at iHobby 2009
Hi I just thought you might want to see some pictures of an Aftershock Idea I am working on. Years ago I designed the logo for Geiser Bros. Racing and created a prototype Aftershock body based on there actual Short Course Truck driven by Jeff Geiser. I brought it to the Lucas Race a couple weeks back. I drove with Geiser Bros. Team and unfortunately I did not have the ability to get over there and see your display. Since the Lucas Oil Race is sponsored by Team Associated RC they had a booth with a mini track right next to the Geiser maintenance pit area. When i took it over to there little demo track it confused many people due to the fact the Aftershock's body is very close in design to Readcats. I had the unique oppertunity to compair side by side to the AE SC8 Trucks. I was asked a thousand questions by people all day long. Sadly my spur gear was damaged at the end of the first day but I was amazed at the crowds that gatherd to watch me drive it around.

RE: aftershock 8e
Here are some Pix w/out the body for you to see. Underneath i'ts completely different from the Slash: Aftershock is 4WD, Brushless (stock) and uses 2 Lipo batteries and although the body are exacly the same size as The Aftershock is sold as 1/8th scale But the Slash is 1/10th

RE: My new short course truck.
Well hard to say, The Slash is a bit large for a 1/10th scale and the Vortex is a bit smaller. Another interesting note is that the Aftershock is a 1/8th scale Desert Truck and it's older Nitro body is exactly the same size as the 1/10th scale Slash (see photo's)

RE: My new short course truck.
I like your Vortex Pix.. I have 2 of them myself. Just thougt u might want to see some of my photos. It's a great little truck and such a grat deal for so little price. Not to many people know about them so right off they assume it is a Chinese Slash "knock-off" but thats only because the body looks like it only smaller. Also shown are some side by side compairisons to the slash but its interesting to note they are both 1/10th scale

Here are some pictures of my Aftershock 8E with the older nitro body version they had before the new one came out. I have it next to my Slash. Interesting to note that they are the same size but the Slash is 1/10th scale and the Aftershock is 1/8th

RE: New HPI Short Course Truck
I stand corrected. It was wrong (and stupid) of me to say HPI and Traxxas get parts from china and after exstensive research I foud out I made a mistake. I based my statements from personal information from other RC hobbiest and should of not posted that reply without facts to back them up. Please accept my humble thanks for correcting me on this matter.

RE: New HPI Short Course Truck
Yes the Traxxas Slash is waterproof. It is one of the features that makes them such a great off road truck. They also have an incredible 3.5" ground clearence so they can go places other short course trucks can't. HOWEVER this feature gives a high center of gravity and you have be carefull takeing corners and sharp curves because it "flips" at even moderate speeds. But with some practice you can learn to finess the throttle and brake slightly at the right moments to solve this. Just to let you know I am not an expert but I only own SHORT COURSE DESERT TRUCKS nothing else so I LIKE ALL brands and do not ever say one is better than the other. Each brand has features that make is better (or worse) than another. You are doing the right thing buy useing these forums to get a variety of opinions from a broad base of hobbiest all across the world. Everone has a personal opinion and is mostley based on the brand they own and only thatr brand. Since I have no loyalty to one brand (because I own different ones) my opinions are based on FACTS and what features I like best. I hope you will keep an open mind when you do purchase what ever brand you choose and buy other brands (if you can afford them) and you don't get overly opinionated and become a "brand loyalist" and say every thing else "sucks" or is "junk" just beacause thats not the one you own.

RE: New HPI Short Course Truck
Hard to say since the Blitz is not for sale untill mid October but for bashing one advantage is the slash is waterproof. Other than that (for bashing arounf) it will allways be a matter of personal opinion.

RE: Traxxas Slash Vs Losi Desert Truck, which is better?
I must admit I agree 100% i own 2 Stock (couple upgrages with suspension & shocks) slashes and can't wait untill my Strike gets here. Your compairisons are right on the money as far as my limited knowlege tells me. I was wondering how would you rate the HPI Blitz? I just Pre- Orederd that one also but they are not due untill mid October. I would love to hear you comments on it compaired to AE SC10 as well any chance you will do a compairison of all 4? if you don't plan on getting a Blitz in the future I would be glad to give you some feedback since I will be owning all 4 brands any day now. Great job! (like I said i can't vote untill my Losi strike shows up)

I agree 100%!!! I wish the Blitz would get here before my Strike. I think the Blitz will do better in moister loose packed dirt, but Iguess I won't know untill they get here. What one do you think will be a better Track racer?

RE: New HPI Short Course Truck
I own many different brands of RC products. I agree Redcat is not in the same quality bracket as Losi, AE, and Traxxas. Everybody is entitled to their own personal opinion and I respect yours. If you think they are junk that's OK with me I do not agree but who cares. Obviously you had a bad experience with them and I would be the first to tell you they have many quality issues. But my Redcats are FASTER stock out of the box with no modifications and I have not had any major issues so they are a lot of bang for my buck. I can buy 3 Aftershocks for the price of one AE SC8 or Traxxas Slayer. But that does NOT make them a better Desert Race Truck. It does make it affordable to people who might not otherwise be able to buy Track Race Quality. So lighten up and at least be kind enough to say that you don't prefer them insted of resorting to statements like "junk" My Losi Strike will be here any day and I can't wait because I won't have to put up with negative comments from people any more. And I just Pre- orderd my HPI Blitz. I made a big mistake posting pictures on the wrong thread. It was just a mistake I got my reply's mixed up. and did not mean to offend anyone by posting my redcat pictures. Just so you know I will be raceing my Slash later on today and will take the Redcat along just for fun. But I am certain to run in to people like yourself who will try and degrade me for it. Funny how people I know call them junk and they never even owned one. I even take several and offer to let people drive them. Some do and some don't those who do say they are impressed with the speed. And I speak only of Short Course Desert Race Truck Models. Those are the only Redcats I have driven and I am refering the ONLY those Trucks. Once again I do RESPECT your opinion I would hope you will respect mine as well. Peace

RE: Aftershock8E anyone ?
The Aftershock 8E (Brushless Elect) RTR (Ready To Run) comes Stock with 2 Lipo 7.2 3200mAh batteries that work together at the same time. It also come with a basic "trckle" charger that combines it with the balancer. The charger can only charge 1 at a time and takes about 6 hours to charge each one. As for run time it all depends on your track or course logistics. On average my batteries have lasted about 30 minutes. You can buy one at RC Trading Post on line web site for $312.99. Here are acouple of photos of my Aftershock for you to check out

Just thought you would like to know that Redcat company is located in Phoenix AZ (I know because I live there and buy my parts from them ) They get there products from a factory IN CHINA. But the Owner and the Company are in Phx. Arizona. I am not trying to be rude I just thought you should have the facts.

RE: Red Cat???
I own 2 1/10th scale Vortex EP Brushless and the !/8th scale Aftershock 8E. I also own 2 Traxxas Slashes. Yes they are not quite as tough as a Slash but what Short Course Desert Trusk is? The Traxxas Slash stock has a Brushed motor and is 2WD The Vortex is about $40 cheaper (depending where you buy it) and has a brushless motor and 4WD and is a little bit smaller (see pix)and if you put a Lipoo battery in it it will go much faster than te slash and corner much sharper without flipping, It comes with aluminum shocks and shock tower. HOWEVER on a rough muddy course the Traxxas rules because its waterproof and it has superior suspension and much higher gound clearence. Plus the 2WD is so easy to work on and getting Traxxs parts are easy because just about all hobbie stores stock them. Traxxas also supplies you with al the toolsyou need to fix and maintain your truck. So it depends on what you want out of your Hobbie Truck. My Redcats have taken major poundings at the track and have no more issues than my Traxxas does but since they are 4WD they have 2 times as many parts to break. I prefer my Redcat when I Race because its so much faster (stock) and I can corner faster with out a flip. I say get them both. (if you can)
