RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!
OK guys... i've been procrastinating for over 6 months... I purchased three 2S lipos and one 3S lipo about 6 months ago, but never got a charger. I finally picked up a charger and WOW.... Why would anyone ever want to run 3S in these little trucks... Holy Crap I do believe that the 2S is a PERFECT match for these little trucks! Especially running two for extended run times! I guess I'll prob never use the Zippy 1500 3S..... so if anyone would wanna trade a 2S for it, i'm game... haha

One cell wont complete charging...
Hey guys... I have a bunch of 2S lipos and one 3S(zippies)... I am balance charging them on my Venom Pro Charger Plus, and when I am charging my 3S, I have one cell that won't go above 4.17-4.18. You can watch it charge/balance the whole time and cell one stays right with cells 2 and 3, but as soon as cell 1 hits 4.18v, it sits right there and fluctuates from 4.17-4.18, while the other two will raise to 4.19-4.2, and then drain back down to 4.18 to try to catch cell 1 up. It'll just keep doing this forever, so I always just stop the charging after a few minutes of it. What is going on? is it a bad LiPo? it's brand new... grrrrr Thanx guys

RE: Aluminum Axle Carriers (knuckles)
Sorry guys, I'm an idiot... I have 4 mini revo's... 3 brushless and one brushed (for my son).... When it was just one mini revo, I didn't mind buying knuckles every now and then, but with 4 it is getting VERY annoying!

Aluminum Axle Carriers (knuckles)
OK guys, I'm pretty sick of constantly replacing my axle carriers (knuckles) due to them getting sloppy or breaking!!! Are the Aluminum knuckles the answer? If so, which ones? Thanx guys!

RE: Traxxas 1/16 E-Revo VXL (7107) Weaknesses
You'll be fine as long as it's brushless.. My wife and I each have the brushless version and my son (5 years old) has the brushed version. I knew the brushed version would be slower but I didn't realize just how slow it would be! It's actually perfect for my son......

RE: Traxxas 1/16 E-Revo VXL (7107) Weaknesses
Steering knuckles galore..... My wife broke a knuckle within 30 seconds of her FIRST run with her revo... We waited a few days to get more of the ball caps for the new knuckle, and within 5 minutes of replacing that one, another one broke. I've broken quite a few of the knuckles myself. Also, WINGS... It's very easy to land on the wing off of a jump... as with any other rc car with a wing! The little thing is a BLAST though, i'm just sick of replacing the SAME TWO PARTS constantly...

Charger/balancer ???
Hey guys, I am ordering a charger and balancer today, and I have it narrowed down to the Onyx 230 with the team checkpoint balancer. I was just wondering if there are any issues I should be aware of before I place the order. I will be charging Zippy Flightmax 2S and 3S packs (for my mini-revo) with them. I know I'll have to do some wiring to unify all my plugs, but other than that I am hoping these products work fine together. I chose the Onyx because it works on AC power, and I didn't want to buy a power supply and I don't have an old PC power supply. Also, I have an Onyx for my nimh's and it works great. I chose the team checkpoint balancer because it looks very simple... Thanx for the help guys!!!

Mini e-revo hesitation issues...
Hey guys, just a quick question.... When I drive my brushless mini revo at low throttle, like barely moving, it surges/hesitates. What causes this? It's really annoying when you're trying to go slow through an area and it keeps hesitating then surging. Thanx guys

Nimh vs. Lipo
I am in the process of changing from Nimh to LiPo and I was wondering what compares to what.... I am currently running 2 traxxas 1200mah Nimh's in series, and I see people are getting mid to high 40mph with them like that.... I ordered 3 of the Zippy 2S 2200mah lipos and I was wondering how the Zippy's will compare to the Nimh's. I will be running the zippy's in parrallel, so I can get some more run time. I'm beginning to think I should have gotten 3S's. Is there a general "power flow chart".... I know it depends on battery types, but in general, in what order does the power go? From what I've read so far, this is my guess.... 1 nimh 1 2S lipo 2 nimh in series 1 3S lipo I guess what I'm getting at is, I'm scared I'm not going to be happy going from 2 nimh in series to 2 2S lipos in parrallel.... Thanx guys

High Speed Pinion (ironic)
Anyone else find it really ironic that the "high speed pinion" is actually a SMALLER pinion, which is actually a LOWER top speed, but more accelleration....??? I realize you're running twice the voltage when using it while running in series, so in the long run it ends up being a faster top speed, I just think it's funny that it's referred to as a high speed pinion.....

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!
ORIGINAL: t9dragon
ORIGINAL: Wheelnut The switch is installed with the ESC, and it is advertised that the truck can be run with batteries in series, so the switch should work. There is an obvious problem and they are responsible for fixing the problem, end of story. I would say, I want it to work right or I want a full refund. Or you can just deal with it. Your choice.
If you run 3s lipos in a series you can damage the esc.
Huh??? Where did 3S lipos come into play?

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!
UPDATE: Just got an email back from Traxxas.... a little scary "Hello Brian, It is not uncommon when running batteries in series. There is no way to fix it. Always unplug the batteries anyway to prevent problems. If you wish you can send the ESC in to our repair lab and they will take a look at it. Best regards, Steve Lindholm, TRAXXAS Customer Service" There is no way to fix it??? So they don't have any clue why it's doing it..... I don't think I'll be sending it in, especially if he already said there isn't any way to fix it.... hahaha

Any ideas? What do u mean? On the ESC not shutting off? If that's what youre talking about, I went on traxxas' forum and there are a TON of people with the same issue. Traxxas hasn't done anything about it yet. People are just unplugging the batteries. I guess its not that big of a deal, just annoying

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!
Well, don't know what happened but today all of a sudden my truck is doing standing backflips on a pair of stock batteries in series..... weird. Today is the first "dry" day I've had it out though. On the other days I thought the pavement was dry, but it must have been a bit damp and just spun a little instead of planting all the power. Now, I need a rear Diff..... Fricken backflips.... haha

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!
Well, Ive had some run time with mine now.... It is def FUN.... I have been running my 7.2v nimh's in series and it is very fast, but it doesnt do standing backflips. It will wheelie EASY, but it's not really close to doing a backflip. I have great traction and I floor it and it'll quickly flip over on it's top, but like I said, not even close to backflipping. I have 3 of the Zippy 2S lipos on the way from Hong Kong, but I was just wondering if other people are able to do the standing backflip on the stock batteries in series? Also, I've read it somewhere before, but my ESC will not shut off sometimes. I'll push the button down and the light will shut off, but as soon as I let off the button, the light turns on. I've tried holding the button down a few seconds, and even just tapping the button, but I end up having to unplug the batteries to get it to shut off.... Thanx

RE: e revo 1/16th best batteries?
So is the single 3S posted above a lot faster than a single 2S? The 2S is 7.4V and the 3S is 11.1V, so I would guess so. I am looking to buy a charger and a few LiPos right now, and I just wanna make sure I get some decent FAST batts.... Now I'm considering buying 3 of the 3S and a charger... I just wanna have a decent amount of run time and I don't mind changing the batts every 15 minutes or so, as long as it's FAST!!! Can the 3S be run in parrallel.... if so, maybe I'll just buy 4 3S and run em in parrallel.... Thanx guys

RE: troubleshoot revo 3.3?
I have a similar problem with mine. I broke it in exactly like traxxas says to, and now I CANT get it to cool down. It's running about 280-300, and if I richen it up at all it won't even shift. It has signs of running too lean (hesitation), but if I richen it up at all it won't run right at all.... That's why I bought an OS motor...

RE: Questions about the OS .18TZ
To get the sleeve out I just put the piston at Bottom Dead Center (BDC), stick a plastic zip-tie in the exhaust port, and then spin the flywheel so that the piston hits the ziptie and pushes the sleeve up. Sometimes you gotta spin it kinda hard for it to work, but it has worked every time.....

Yeah Justin, I could have gotten the TZ-P for a lot cheaper, but then I would have had to buy a $100+ bumpstarter...... We'll be back to buy a motor for Melissa's shortly, but we're just trying to figure out which fricken one she wants.... 18tz, axial 28 spec 1s, Picco, hmmmmmmm

RE: Idle question...
Yeah Justin... I never even started the OS. It was just too cold to fiddle with breaking the OS in, so I put the 3.3 back on so I could bash with the guys yesterday. Set the needles back to stock, lowered the idle, and went from there. It's running pretty darn good, not perfect, but pretty good. Other than the axle!!! OOPS. I still have an issue with my Tx or Rx. A few times yesterday I would be flying along and let off the gas and hit the brakes. The truck doesn't slow down at all, so I hit the brakes fully and turn the steering cuz it's heading towards stuff.... still nothing, just full speed ahead, then all of a sudden it slams on the brakes and turns.... FLIP FLIP FLIP FLIP crack FLIP FLIP... see where I'm going with that? It's like I keep losing signal, but it has nothing to do with distance. I can drive it until it's almost out of sight, it's like every time I lose control I'm only 50-75 feet away from it... hmmmm Maybe just interferance....

Well Justin.... I put my 3.3 back on my revo and I got it pretty darn close to perfect now.... Guess I just really suck at tuning (weird I never had a problem with the 2.5). Now I have a BRAND NEW, never run 18tz-tx with it fully modified for a revo just sitting on my table... hmmmm What else could I put it in??? TRUGGY FTW!!! Will it go in that Mantis TXS? HOOK ME UP JUSTIN!!!

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=8671207

Idle question...
OK, so my wifes revo is idling weird now.... What happened is I had to have the idle set really high to get it to maintain an idle, and I think I might have figured out why..... I was tuning the HSN first (from factory settings on HS and LS needles), then I'd leave the idle high and tune the LSN..... I remember now that I should be lowering the idle before tuning the low speed Needle.... But the issue I was having tonight was that the idle speed screw was working in reverse... The car would be idling good, but high, so I would unscrew (counterclockwise) the idle speed screw to lessen the gap, and the idle would start rising (like it's getting lean). MY QUESTION: If I had the lsn set to idle good at about 3 times the gap in the slide that it should be at, and then tried lowering the idle via the idle speed screw, does it lean out the engine? I hope so, cuz that would solve my problem.... I can't check till morning, so I was hoping someone in here might have run into this issue before... Thanx!!!
