RE: Engine suggestions
thanks all, thanks for the input......i picked up extra wood over the weekend when i got supplies, due to the fact alot of the Dumas wood, split, separated,or chipped just removing it from the box and getting set on the bench.then removing the pieces with there incomplete punches just makes it just that much more fun!!!!but it is just what i wanted, a challenging time consuming build!!!!
ORIGINAL: z style Would there be any reason why rubber engine mounts wouldn't work with these engines or do they absolutely need to be solid mounted? Jon
the question kind of answers itself if you reallllllllllly think about it!!!!! but in theory if ya put the tranny on rubber mounts too they could move together,.....problem solved!!!!! RE: Engine suggestions
Yeah, i agree Hydro Junkie.Thats why i ignored it when dude kind of ripped on Advanced Builder. advanced Builder has built the exact boat i am about to do(no one else has piped in that has this boat),thats why i pay attention when he is giving tips on the build(he has built this model) , i am paying attention to all input on engine choice, i am not afraid to fabricate a exhaust for a front ported exhaust and still keep it inside the hull. ALL of you have been tremendously helpful and i thank you for all the input and info all of you have shared

RE: Engine suggestions
ORIGINAL: advanced builder OK guys you didn't read my post on mahogany .you need to add 1/32 ply on the back side of the sheet of mahogany Yes it's very grain-ie You can split the wood very easy. putting down the top is the hardest one side will lay down Ok the other side want to role up on you . YES SOAK THAR TOP SKIN IN WATER BEFORE you lay it down. epoxy will be OK The end grain on the mahogany needed to be cut upside-down. on the one to skin. FYI
thanks for that bit of info, got it soak top skin before laying it down

RE: Engine suggestions
ORIGINAL: Blackout What length is the hull?
its a 36 inch hull, its becoming quite clear that i have to be extremely careful in my choice,if i under power the boat, wont plane out and be a slug, so me being me thinks that over powering would be better .of course would have to be exercising some throttle control until i get the hull balanced out so i do not launch it..........

Engine suggestions
I am doing my first boat build in over 25 years,i bought a Dumas Miss Unlimited kit. I was hoping one of the enthusiasts here could point me in the direction of a decent marine engine. i am not looking to race, i just want something i can sling out on the water and have a good time with. i have run across the ASP engines at a unbelievable price ,50.00 for a .40( which makes me question it)and then others are upwards of 500.00,then i read researching the forums to beware of plane engines that companies slap a water jacket on and call it a marine engine.........anyway any guidance and info on this will be deeply appreciated

RE: $40 savage!!! shuts off though:(
last pic ,the coupler from the header to the pipe,is that a tear, rip or something, that would definitely kill your tank pressure and starve the engine out. and by the way great score for 40 bones[:D]

RE: HPI F4.6 any good???
the F4.6 is a great stock factory engine,( i usually hate stock factory engines)m i have 2 of them, one that is in my X now that runs all day long and pull the front wheels at will. The second is on the bench getting new bearings and piston and sleeve.
