RE: Beginner Brushless Foam 4 Channel Trainer
OH! Very nice trainer. Exactly what i was looking for. Next question. Why does a radio need so many channels in a rc plane setup? i see those 10 channel setups and wonder why. 4 channels i understand, but beyond that whats the point?

RE: Thoughts on a Art-Tech 2.4Ghz F4U Corsair for a starter plane
i for one do no believe that you have to spend $200+ dollars to get into this hobby. Anyone with a brain for RC in general can learn to fly. I flew Heli for 5+ years and started with a Raptor 50 v2. Crashed a few times but also used a sim. Turned out to be good after a few flights. Brushless Electric is the only way to go. 5C charge rates and nice ESC/Motor is the key. Packs on hobbycity are dirt cheap and pretty nice in general. I bet a highend BL ESC and MOTOR will blow a nitro based setup away! See it done on my BL RC cars. Ill get one of those"Exceeds" models and if i crash, a whole new plane is like $150, for that price its worth buying 2. I dont think for the price there is anyway this wouldnt make a decent trainer. Do some tweaking to tighten up the control surfaces, maybe a servo upgrade. I think it will do nicely Specification: Wingspan: 1000mm (37.8 inch) Length: 835mm (30.8 inch) Flying Weight: 700g (20 oz) Drive System: Brushless Out Runner High Torque Motor Propeller: 3 Paddles Speed Controller: 25A Brushless ESC Servo: 3X 9g high speed micro servos Battery: 11.1V 1300mah Li-Polymer Control system: 4 CH Multifunctional FM Radio Transmitter and Receiver Radio Control Range: 3000 feet (1000m) [image]http://site.nitroplanes.com/21143-RTFArt-TechF4UCorsair24Ghz-7.jpg[/image] [image]http://site.nitroplanes.com/21143-RTFArt-TechF4UCorsair24Ghz-9.jpg[/image] [image]http://site.nitroplanes.com/21143-RTFArt-TechF4UCorsair24Ghz-8.jpg[/image] [image]http://site.nitroplanes.com/21143-RTFArt-TechF4UCorsair24Ghz-6.jpg[/image] [image]http://site.nitroplanes.com/21143-RTFArt-TechF4UCorsair24Ghz-5.jpg[/image] [image]http://site.nitroplanes.com/21143-RTFArt-TechF4UCorsair24Ghz-4.jpg[/image] [image]http://site.nitroplanes.com/21143-RTFArt-TechF4UCorsair24Ghz-3.jpg[/image] [image]http://site.nitroplanes.com/21143-RTFArt-TechF4UCorsair24Ghz-2.jpg[/image] [image]http://site.nitroplanes.com/21143-RTFArt-TechF4UCorsair24Ghz-1.jpg[/image]

Thoughts on a Art-Tech 2.4Ghz F4U Corsair for a starter plane
Ran across this and want to get into flying. what do you guys think about this for a starter plane? I like it because its cheap and 2.4ghz. I use to fly Helis for several years, not sure how it compares to planes but do you think this would make a good starter? I really like ducted fan planes but im not sure that it would make a good starter. Thoughts on this plane? RE: electric truggy
i would say that this coming year u will start to see some base brushless truggies and other kits around. as far as building one, i would recommend a which ever kit u fancy and get a tekno conversion kit, they are really nice and u get a chassis. Losi is also making a kit, but I would rather spend the money on a tekno. There are tons of options. Also www.rcmonster.com is a great place to get stuff and their forums are top notch for BL info. welcome back! www.tekno.com

The losi conversion kit is JUNK. I have both the Losi kit and the tekno kit, the Tekno is by far superior. you can get the 8ight-t 1.0 Tekno kit on amain for 69.99 on sale right now and it comes with a chassis, the losi kit is 79.99 and it does NOT come with a chassis. http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/26656/n/Tekno-RC-V3-Brushless-Kit-for-Losi-8T-10-36mm-Novak-Motors DO NOT GET THE LOSI KIT.

RE: electric truggy
yeah they are, its because its on the older kits that they are selling for 69.99 teh 8ight-t 2.0 is 129ish the kit it top notch plus u get a chassis, you just cant beat that. Besides the Tekno kits are high quality. im not knocking Losi, i love losi kits. Just the conversion has to be changed around. example, the plastic spur gear that comes with the kit has to be sanded because its to wide. that just one example. also you cant use a large metal spur gear because it rubs the chassis, u have to cut a hole on the chassis with the losi kit to allow other spur gears. Example being the stock 8ight-t 48t metal gear that comes with the race roller kit. ity wont fit unless u dremel a hole in the chassis to allow clearance. the tekno kit u do not have to do that

RE: electric truggy
i have a Losi 8ight-t 1.0 converted to Bushless. Its got the Tekno conversion kit which come with a chassis and everything u need to convert on sale at @69.99 on amain. The Castle Creations Mamba Monster 2200kv combo @249.99 ebay and a few 4s1p lipo packs, its geared 48t spur / 15t pinion and kills nitros at the track. The pics below are me using the Losi Electric conversion @79.99 on amain, i highly recommend the Tekno kits, they are alot better. If you want to know more about brushless conversion i suggest going to www.rcmonster.com its the only place that is really on top of BL conversions. Zijji, i am sorry that you have had some problems with the charger. I have had mine for about 3 months and use it daily. No problems. I did notice when charging Lipo packs that the AMPS move up and down, but im told this is normal for any good charger.

RE: Losi 8ight-T 2.0 Brushless Conversion
[quote]ORIGINAL: losifiend Nice Conversion! I had an 8ight-B that I converted using the Losi kit and a Novak 6.5 HV. It was plenty fast with 3s and a 15T pinion but I'm just not a buggy guy so I sold it. I bought a used 8ight-T with the funds collected and am hopeing that it gets here soon so I can start the conversion. Still dont know what motor/esc I'll be using as I'm tracking a few on ebay. I'm on dissability right now and funds are limited. What track do you run your tuggy at? I noticed you're from L.A. Do you run at Revelation or is it too far from you? As far as the expense of Nitro VS Electric I too was hessitant at first but found a good deal on a few 2s lipos and 1 3s as well. I found though that 20c is a bit low for 1/8 scale brushless though. My 2s and 3s Maxamp LiPos would come off pretty hot, 120*, even with a 12T pinoon on the buggy. I bring this up because the cost of a 30c battery greatly increases even for the cheapest liPos on the market and is defenitly a cost to consider when concerting. But then again at $30 a gallon, considering a .28 motor gobbles up tons of fuel, $150 for even the cheapest 3s 30c battery is'nt that bad considering you'll get an average of 150-200 cycles out of it. In my experience I have found that MaxAmps LiPos suck compared to Reedy LiPos. I have one of each, 5000mah 20c , and in my VXL Slash the Reedy LiPo will flip it backwards with no problems while the MaxAmps one just squats it down really hard. IMO MaxAmps is over priced and over rated. Now I view buying LiPos as if I were to buy a case of fuel at a time. [/quote] the price on 20c AND 25c have come way down. You should check hobby city. I pay 60ish for a 4s1p 5000mAh 25c pack, and they last and run great on my 8ight-t conversion. batteries never get over 100f and thats with monster mamba 2200kv 48t/15t

RE: Zippy & Rhino Lipos - Quality
I purchased a Rhino 5s1p 4900mAh 20c pack, and have 2 cycles on it. I run it in my 8ight-t truggy. I use a castle creations mamba monster ESC. after setting the low voltage cut off to 3.0v or 15v for the pack. i had the cells drop to 2.97 and a few that were at 2.74. with that said i will now set LVC to 3.2 or 3.3 just to be on the safe side. I was able to recover all 5 cells, the pack works great so far. i was able to get a full 5200mAh into not the 4900 rated and it appears to be closer to 25C then 20c. Awesome pack so far, and i bash this sucker around an outdoor off-road track. We shall see how it holds up. Also I purchased a Turnigy 4s1p 5000mAh 25c pack ZERO issues same 2 cycles on it so far, it holds closer 5500mAh and around 30c. I will def purchase more of these packs.

RE: Lipo pck issue: Rhino 5s1p 4900mAh 20C bad cell?
damn i forgot about that, so i would need something at least 10 amps to handle 2C, i have been thinking about getting some of these they charge at 5C so i need a good 25amp charger wouldnt it? im betting that is pricey. HYPERION G3 CX 5000 MAH 5S 18.5V 25C/45C LIPOLY PACK Details Hyperion Generation 3 Lithium Polymer Packs are proving truly revolutionary in both performance and value. Compared to an average of the batteries on market last year, they provide up to up to 4x more cycles under the same discharge conditions. And that makes them a bargain price-wise. But they also deliver the highest voltage and flattest discharge curves under load that we have ever seen, which makes them the best performer you can buy. And tests have shown that at the 70%-discharged point in flight, they are delivering as much as 40% more power than previous generation LiPo. The fact that they can be safely charged at up to 5C rates - for charge times as low as 10 to 12 minutes - is just icing on a very tasty cake. The G3 packs are made with a new Hybrid RS construction technology, super-fine substrate materials, rigorous ISO 9001 Quality Control, and final cell matching process, which all guarantee you not only this superb performance, but also tightly balanced and long-lasting packs. The G3 LiPo come in two series. "CX" 25C are appropriate for most models and deliver high capacity and power per gram at low cost. The "VX" 35C series is the one for applications that need the highest possible voltage maintained at high discharge rates; for example highly aerobatic 3D airplanes and helicopters, competition gliders, pylon racers, and some EDF jets. Check'm out, you'll be glad you did. [image]http://www.rc-monster.com/prodimages/HP-LG335-4200-XX.jpg[/image]
