Tamiya new Bruiser driveline info
So since the new Bruiser is out I was wondering if any new owners might be willing to share some info on it. In particular I wanted to know if the diff gears in the new Bruiser are all metal? Are they still aluminum like in the original or maybe steel in the new one? Does anyone have pics or an exploded diagram of the differentials? Also I was hoping I could get some dimensions of the main ring gear in the diffs, especially it's diameter? Any help would be appreciated. (I have an idea running in my head to use the front and rear diffs in a scratchbuilt rock crawler, that's assuming that the parts become available separately from Tamiya at som point in the not too distant future). Thanks all. :)

RE: FG-14B(82B) 4-Stroke Gas Engine
Thanks w8ye. I appreciate it. Also does anyone have some user comments about the engine? Any particular problems with this line of engines (FG14, FG20, etc) as far as reliability, longevity, weak points?

FG-14B(82B) 4-Stroke Gas Engine
Hello. I've been away from RC-ing for a few months and just noticed the new Saito FG-14B(82B) 4-Stroke engine on the market. I need it's physical dimensions (height, width, length, etc) compared to the FG20. Looked all over the net but all I could find were the mounting dimensions. Can anyone help me out with a link or something? Thanks in advance.

RE: Identify the engine in this model tractor?
Yes, that might be it. The engine sound in your corrected link sounds pretty darn close to the sound of the tractor. :)

RE: Identify the engine in this model tractor?
Plus that tractor I would guess is maybe 6-8" high so that would make the engine in that tractor about 4-5" in height. And the smaller the engine the harder it is to get a low idle/running speed. Mind you that tractor does look like it has a fairly heavy brass flywheel. Still I wonder...

RE: Identify the engine in this model tractor?
Ratxipt, yup I know that tractor didn't sound exactly like a hit 'n miss engine but it also doesn't quite sound like the engine in the last You Tube video you gave a link to. The open crankcase Loyal that you posted a link to doesn't exactly sound like the tractor engine either but it's getting much closer than my guess at a hit 'n miss engine. What I'm most astonished at is the low idle/running speed of the engine in that model tractor. By the way, this video link didn't want to work for me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwH5_jKTKd I love antique engines too! :) Any one else out there who can help us?

RE: Identify the engine in this model tractor?
Oh one more thing. If you listen to hit 'n miss engines their sound is more how do I say 'ragged' and uneven than this tractor simply because of the hit 'n miss principle of operation but this engine is more rhythmic and even in operation.

Identify the engine in this model tractor?
Hello. I was hoping someone could help me out and identify or at least give some idead on the type of engine in this model tractor in this video. It certainly runs/revs very slow and the sound is very realistic as compared with the full-size article so it isn't the typical gasoline or glow fuel powered 2 stroke nor a 4 stroke model engine. Nor is it steam powered obviously. I'm thinking it must be a model hit 'n miss engine. Any ideas or even better links to similar models with slow revving engines. What do you guys think? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXj7ITgBe_4&feature=PlayList&p=A4AA4701F5B487ED&index=60

RE: Weedeater GTI 15t displacement?
rangerbob, hmmm interesting. From my internet search on the model 1700 the only thing I could come up with other than a whole bunch of sites listing replacement parts was a vague reference to 31cc although the way the description was structured was somewhat ambiguous so that I'm not exactly sure if it meant to say that the 1700 is actually 31cc. Anyways, no biggie the neighbor only wants $5 for them so even if one of them is not what I'll end up using I can always use it for 'experiments'. w8ye, I think the stickers on the ones I'm looking at were just lost/removed somewhere along the way....even for the GTI 15t all you can read is the 'GT(?) 15(?)' part and the rest is just smudged from wear I suppose. As always thanks again to everyone.

Thanks for the pics and info everyone. Now to the last of my questions which no one has touched so far. Any idea on the displacement of the Model 1700 weedeater? (The one I'm looking at at my neighbors has no stickers to identify the cc's).

RE: Weedeater GTI 15t displacement?
Thanks again for that info. So if the featherlight magneto is mounted on the shroud I assume that would require some extra work during the conversion to figure out a new mounting for the magneto unit when getting rid of the shroud. Interesting. Any pics of the 18cc?

RE: Weedeater GTI 15t displacement?
Thanks for the info yet again rangerfredbob. So what I was wondering about is the weight. You mention that you were able to get one 18cc down to under 2lbs and the one you just weighed came in at about 3lbs. What would account for the 1lb or so difference in the weight? Also do you know if the featherlite weedie 18cc and the GTI 15t are the same dimensions or even the same block/crankcase castings with the 15t maybe having a larger bore or stroke to account for the 3 or so extra cc's of displacement? Or are they a different set of castings and outside dimensions? Thanks again in advance.

Unmilled/unmachined Cox cylinders?
Hi everyone. I'm looking for some leads to someone who was selling some unmachined/unmilled Cox .049 cylinders. (these didn't have the exhaust ports milled yet). I had the person's contact info in my e-mail but ended up losing/deleting it somewhere along the way. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. rangerfredbob you said that you got the 18cc version trimmed (no pun intended LOL) to under 2lbs. I'm wondering if the 22cc GTI 15t version is the same size physically on the outside as the 18cc? Also on a sidenote where can I procure the carb rebuild kits for the 15t and also the 25cc Homelite or at least the diaphragm for them? And finally any idea on the displacement of the Weedeater Model 1700 engine?

Weedeater GTI 15t displacement?
I'm a newbie to gas and conversions and so can anyone tell me the displacement of the Weedeater GTI 15t engine? I've done some google searches for this engine but couldn't find any specs. Also what about the Weedeater model 1700 displacement? I'm looking for a small (25cc and under) engine to to a conversion on (ideally I'd like 18cc or under). I already have a 25cc Homelite that I've procured and will be working on but now my neighbor has the GTI 15t and also the model 1700 I can pick up for $5 bucks or so. Also, as a sidenote in one of the other posts someone mentioned that "Some blowers are left hand rotation and present a problem as a model engine." Left hand rotation, isn't that counterclockwise and isn't that the direction of rotation that's needed for putting on a prop conversion.

RE: First Time Gasser
I am considering the Homelite route as well for my first gasser engine since I found a complete 25cc Homie engine for FREE (always good) while I was at the local dump getting rid of some waste. Anyways, my question is this: in regards to the website that soarrich posted (http://www.carrprecision.com/Pages/prod02.htm) the conversion kit for $45 doesn't mention anything about the flywheel. I was under the impression that you also had to machine the flywheel. Also on the website under the Homie 25cc conversion it looks like the prop hub assembly is plastic? Is that true? I would prefer aluminum.Unless of course it is black anodizd aluminum.

RE: Looking for Strange and Unusual?
Come on guys. don't be so hard on the guy to get a video going. Ever wonder why you can't see a vampire in the mirror? It's the same basic theory. And besides, the vortex which powers it is very sensitive to the electromagnetic frequencies emitted by any cameras pointed in it's direction. If you fully read and study his theory you will plainly see that the reason it's called an "implosion wing" is that it implodes under any type of scrutiny.[:)]

Aftermarket glow heads/glow plugs for COX and Norvel
Just wondering if anyone has tried one of these heads: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110301903725 What do you guys think? I have been using one of the Galbreath heads on some of my Cox engines that I purchased a couple of years back and I've been very satisfied with it, although I never measured the actual rpm difference between the Galbreath and the original Cox glow head. In any case I fly for fun and outright speed/performance is not my utmost concern. There's also another fellow in Australia who has these heads: http://cgi.ebay.com/COX-049-Adapter-Head-for-STD-Glow-Plug-GOLD_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ66Q3a4Q7c65Q3a1Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a0Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a200QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem20ab960fa2QQitemZ140317691810QQptZAUQ5fToysQ5fHobbiesQ5fRadioQ5fControlledQ5fVehiclesQQsalenotsupported The gentleman from Australia does mention a 1000rpm loss with this head. And of course Mecoa I think has a head for Cox. Any comments about these or other heads that might be available would be greatly appreciated. Basically I'm looking for a fairly priced long-lasting head without loosing too-too-much performance.

RE: Front carb RCGF 20cc or other?
Mitchmcf, ah I see (about the depth). But what about the other dimensions? You mentioned that the other dimensions are the same as the side carb unit but they can't be because with the carb out of the way so to speak the width of this engine (carb to exhaust) has to be different than the side carb version. The height could be the same but the width is now reduced by the width of the carb. So basically what I would still like to find out is the width from the side of the fins to the outside od the muffler. I wouldn't also mind finding the width of the cylinder head itself (not counting the muffler). Why the heck doesn't RCGF just post these dimensions on their website and make it a heck of alot easier for potential customers?

RE: Front carb RCGF 20cc or other?
Mitchmcf, what do you mean by the 'depth'? Are you referring to the width of the engine or the height from say bottom of mounting lugs to top of sparkplug. And you're right, I checked rcgf.com and the rear carb engine is now listed but when you click on 'Details' it stilll transfers you to the side carb 20cc engine spec sheet. Geeeee, how helpful.[:'(] As a customer, I definitely wouldn't want to inconvenience rcgf by my silly questions since according to Piston their time would be "better spent on other more profitable projects". RE: Front carb RCGF 20cc or other?
Thanks for the responses/clarification guys and the pics. Did this engine just come out, because I don't see it listed on the zrcgf.com website. Only their side carb 20cc is listed. Does the rear carb and side carb have the same carburator? I assume the overall design is the same as the side carb version? Also where can I get some dimensions on this rear carb engine? I'd like to know the height from bottom of crankcase/mounting lugs to top of spark plug and also the width with and without the muffler. Also, are there any other 20cc and smaller rear carb or front carb engines available on the market right now? Thanks in advance.
