RE: vintage rc official old school thread
That's a Kyosho Big Brute. If you don't have to dump a lot of money into it parts, it would be really fun to get it working again. Far as the electronics go, I'd rip em all out and go with a new or at least more recent ESC and batteries. If those are NiCd battery packs and are as old as that truck .... chances are they are shot and your going to need a new battery pack.

When you have no grass in the backyard, own a backhoe loader, you wake up saying "I love the smell of nitro in the morning", and get letters from the Home Owners Association about complaints of "mini chainsaw sounds" coming from your backyard.

RE: vintage rc official old school thread
Man I wish it was mine !!! It belongs to a friend of mine in Japan. I offered him lots of cash for it but he won't sell LOL !!! I even offered my entire collection, but he won't part ... he said it's like his child LOL !!! I told him he could have visitation rights .... LOL !!! He says he built it from a kit in the mid 80's .... he says the kit was almost more than buying any of the 4WDs that were coming out the the time. He still runs it ... with friends. They have a club with a bunch of old RC10s and various Tamiyas & Kyoshos. They have some really nice buggies. They race at Yatabe Arena in an off-road vintage class. He won't race the 4wd RC10 there ... only at a club track, but he runs a few Javelins and Optima Mids at Yatabe. Here are some of his other buggies:

RE: vintage rc official old school thread
uhhh get a new buggy ..... J/K [:)] B2 parts are hard to find because it had a VERY short production run .. then the B3 was released. Ebay is your best bet. Grab a B2 and tear it down for parts. Also some parts from B3 will fit the B2 .... goto Associated's website and d/L the B3 and B2 manuals and compare part numbers.

RE: Looking for an RC Buggy
The last 2 post are right ...if you only spend $100 for an RTR buggy ... it will either be slow or a POS. Most likey both unless you try ebay but even then it could still be crap if it is a used RTR. So save some more money up. The Traxxas Bandit and Duratrax Evader at least come with 20 turn motors so they will be a little faster than your average stock buggy. Speed also comes from your gear ratio. But for now if your a noob to RC, you should not worry too much about speed ... durability should be your concern because your gonna wreck if your a noob ... just the way it goes. BTW the buggy you picked from Raidentech is a copy of the Tamiya Baja King. Its a pretty good choice but the ESC is crap and if you try to use a faster motor it will fry the ESC. That ESC was meant to be used with stock motors only. The radio is crappy too. The range sucks, but if your learning to drive it would be good to keep the car closer to you until you get better at driving.

RE: best crawler?
ORIGINAL: dezfan Unfortunately, the Max Climber and Rock Buster TLTs have been discontinued. There are a few still available if you know were to look. Try Crawl Mart, but hurry! Last I heard, they only had around 30 left. http://www.orcrc.com/crawlmart/crawlmart.htm
Thanks man ... yeah we looked at Tamiya USA and they said discontinued. Is there any difference between the 2 TLT (Max and Rock) kits? Other than the shell? I personally like the PTI Goliath. If I get one (PTI) I will pretty much keep it stock. If I really get into crawling ... I think spending some good money on a modified kit on ebay would be the way to go, for me anyway.

RE: Save $20 on a 50$ order from Tower..
ORIGINAL: Rod Bender
ORIGINAL: jw112 i just called tower and they said once use a $10 off of $25 or a $20 off of $50, you do not get to use them again. She said no matter what the code is. I used this a couple of thimes last month so i guess that is the deal. so if it works for you, you only have so long that you can keep using it. So use it b4 you lose it!
Well........... We've all proven that statement to be false, this week alone, not to mention the past month(s). I've received valid promo codes from TH and used them 2-4 times in a single day or week. I've also used codes listed here from others with the same result. If it works, it will work for quite a while, not a 1 time deal. Hundreds of people have used the above code over the past month, and continue to use it. I placed 2 orders on wed with the above code, and received both items today. I would expect TH to "try" to limit code usage by IP address, but I feel they're a long way (tech wise) from being able to enforce that ...... Greg
Stop buying for a while and I bet they let you use it !!! LOL !!! I bet almost everyone on RCU, if not a big percentage, has placed an order with Tower ..... knowing that they make all that money they should let you use codes more than once. Most of the saving is on shipping anyway. But then again if we were CEO of Tower we would want that new Mega-Yacht and Lambo too !!! Not to mention the new house in Aspen.

RE: best crawler?
Hey guys .... I'm a noob to RC crawling ... but not to RC. The more I see crawlers the more I want one. I have a friend that is wanting a TLT-1 and he lives in Romania so I am buying it with his money then sending it to him. I'm wondering where I can get the Max Climber kit. I tried ebay and all I see are Rock Busters. Like I said i'm new to crawling ... so my question is what ... besides the body ... are the differences in the 2 kits. That way I can explain it to him and convince him to get a rock buster. I think he wants to modify it with a Junfac chassis. Man !! That chassis looks sweet !!! What do you guys think ??
