RE: Thunder Tiger Sparrowhawk XXB
OK, well i'll start with some basics i've had happen so far. I'm running the standard car at the moment, with 7.4v 5200 & 4000 mah lipo's (Still waiting on a programming card to set up battery shut off). - Lost some wheels, so always check them before you take the car out - both front shocks blew out the bottom cap and lost their oil I have 2 friends with these aswell, one speed controller came loose and both have lost wheels while driving. ... other than that - all good so far. Would be interested to know if anyone has tried different tyres? the first set are nearly slicks after about 4 times out. It will get used on bitumen, so thinking some road tyes?

Hey Guys, How are you all?? Been ages since i've been online and about the same since i have flown. I do have an excuse.... i have just welcomed the next generation of model flyer into the world!! :) I have a question for you all..... what the best way to store lipo's?? I pulled mine out of storage at new year to fly my twister with my Dad ( who just brought a new twister chinook ) and found my 2200mah has started to swell and my 850mah is only charging on one cell!! :( So now i need to go spend some $$ to get some new batteries for the plane and chopper before i can do anything!!! RE: Australian BBQ and Beers - Part III
Hey Jimbyjoe, just for reference, try glueing your blades back together for thet twister. I have the medevac and use the loctite 2 part super glue that you can get now. Its like a felt tip pen (primer) and the a glue. It dries clear (no fuming ) and holds real tight on those blades. I have done about 20 flights with 2 opposing glues blades with no problems at all - actually broke one of the same blades and it snapped about 10mm from the glued joint. Mez

RE: Australian BBQ and Beers - Part III
Hey guys, How are you all?? I'm back!! sort of........ :) work is just too busy, cant get near a computer these days!!! Well, have been flying the spitfire as often as possible...... nearly killed it at christmas - took it to Mt Gambier to visit the folks, was flying the spit and Dad had his Stryker up. Lost the spit in the sun and next thing its heading for trees, throttled down and waited for the smack.......... but it didnt come - then about 30 secs later BANG. Thinking to myself, that didnt sound like a tree - Dad turns to me and says - " that just hit the highway" !!!! [:(] ....... now picture me sprinting across a huge hockey field and hurdling a 5 foot fence as a B'double truck drives past. :( I find my spit with the wing broken off at the clip ( as its meant to ) and sitting perfectly in line down the centre line of the 2 lane highway. Big guges out of the nose cone, and needed to glue the wing mount clip back on...... other than that miraculously - no damage!!!!! [:-] Other than that excitement - the mustang is nearly finished, just have to cover the tail section and work out the battery mount - then she is basically done !!! Mez.

Hey Guys, how are you all??? Good to see your all here!! Sorry i dissapeared - work has been crazy over the last few months!! Tyring to catch up with the back log of reading on here.....[:o] Hey thought i would let you all know - wattsuprc have a new range of brushless outrunners - thought i would get one and have a look, it came today. 2000kv, came with mounting plate, front and rear prop adaptors, gold bullet terminals (male and female) spare shaft and mounting screws - all for $29 !!!! Havent put it on the plane yet - but it looks like its resonable built - will let you all know when i test it. The balsa mustang is getting almost to the covering stage, hence getting the electrics together. Will put some pics on soon :) Mez

thats the confusing part..... none of the above!!!!! i use a lipo charger with built in balancer, i have used the battery for prob about 10 cycles.... but it hasnt benn used for about 3 weeks - and the heli never gets more that 5 feet off the ground and its never had a major impact! Hey guys, dont know if it will interest anyone, but there is a powered kite on ebay - full kit including batteries and TX ( 3 channel ) its at about $10- plus about $20 postage. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ELECTRIC-AIR-KITE-BATTERY-POWERED-3-CH-REMOTE-CONTROL_W0QQitemZ250161217030QQihZ015QQcategoryZ2563QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Have been thinking of building one for fun and thought i would see what ws around! sounds like a bargain for anyone just getting into it! Was thinking of a deltawing kite with elevons......... hmmmm probably should finish the P51 first hey :) However .... all this talk of bi-planes has also got me thinking [;)] I got myself another 8x4 prop for the spit to try this weekend - am interested to see how it performs now that she is flying ( because i broke the original on the maiden landing and have been using 7x5 ever since ) Am hoping it will give it just that bit more vertical thrust.[:D] Mez PS - I'm a Hawks boy from way back - however being South Australian i am obliged to follow a local team (or be stoned to death!) so i also follow the Crows a little.... which gives me a little dilema this weekend!!!

RE: The Australian bbq and beers
Hey guys, well put the spit up again - man i love that plane, still getting used to her though. On the final landing she dipped a wing last min and it has put a crease in the wing tip about 2 inches in. Now considering its a balsa covered epp wing if it has a weak spot i gather its cracked the balsa? If so do i need to remove the covering or could i just try running some tape stringers ???? The spit is really effected by ground effect, cant beleive how far the thing glides for....... might have to start learing to use those flaperons on approach to slow it down!!!![;)] Did a little more on my P51 build, the wind is shaped correctly and pretty much ready to cover - just have to sand it smooth and its done! So tell me, Why is the Digital servo so much better than a normal servo?? Is it worth paying $20- when you can get the ewatts normal 8g servo for $10- And would the digital servo be better than a HS55 that i get for $20-??? Just wondering because i am probably going to put the 1800kv ewatts into the Mustang when it is finished - so will order servos from there at the same time! Mez PS - noticed in my LHS today that they have Multiplex Lipo batteries 11.1v 2000Mah for $69.00!

RE: The Australian bbq and beers
I usually charge mine the night before i fly - which i thought i did last night - so, maybe i did something wrong. Just took the PZ FW out and the spit again, flew the PZ through both batteries.... nearly. I was prob about 1/2 way through the second battery when something shiny fell off the plane.... it was probably nothing improtant but it grabbed my attention for the split seconds it took the wind to bank the plane and put it into a unsavable dive. I couldnt find the prop nut after - so i t was either that that came off ( which would of contributed to its demise ) or the prop nut is buried a few inches under ground at the crash site!! I think this time it may be.......... RIP PZ FW190 [:(][:(] - will attach a pic to show you all but i think shes dead this time. On a brighter note..... i then put the Spit up for another go ............. Stryker C has nothing on this baby!! Even a about 1/4 throttle its faster than the FW and at full noise - the FW may as well have been a slow stick!! Nearly ditched the Spit into some trees at the opposite side of the park i was flying - but saved it . ended up catching a wing on landing though and i think it may have cracked the wing tip foam. Will have to surgically remove the covering and have a look.[:o] Man i love the spit though, what a rocket![:-] The TX seemed to last longer this time - its still got charge and even though i didnt fly the Spit to full length of lipo - i think it would of made a full flight this time. But i should get more than 30mins out of the tX battery shouldnt i ???? Mez

Well just took the Spit out for its first flight with the lipo, Holy crap.... its fast!! it flies like a dream now. Loops no probs, vertical - but not unlimited with the 7x5 prop. My only problem was - i think my transmitter batery is dying!!! it went flat before the lipo in the plane did [:@] - went to the lhs to see what a battery was worth and they dont have any [:o] Why on earth wouldnt you keep transmitter batteries in stock - especially when they sell my exact transmitter!!!??? So.... has anyone tried hooking up 8 AA NiMh batteries in series to use? Man - i want to put it up again, but the Nicad takes ages too charge!! [&o] Mez

Woops, these didnt work the first time Well, just went to solder the deans onto the new Lipo so i can charge her up and have the spitty ready to rock tomorrow morning ( meant to be great weather ) and my trusty old Butane soldering iron died - full of gas but just wont heat up enough!!! [:o] So just did a quick run down to dick smiths and i am now the owner of a new pen size butane soldering iron equiv of 70w. Was more expensive than an electric but soooo much more convenient - and they had the kit on sale for the same price as just the iron, so i got solder and extra tips etc for the same price.
