RE: June 1 to 3 - Sherbrooke - Qc - Canada - First Jet Rally
Any update on how it has gone. I feel very bad for robin, who has put in a great amount of work to make this a big success. With the weather on Saturday, rain, rain, I hope he has had a good turnout, hoping the jet guys, did not let him down. Friday was nice weather and today Sunday should also be reasonable.

RE: Classic Pattern Plane Image-base
Flew the Saturn last Sunday and without quesition the cg location made a big improvement, especially in the take off. I had it way too no heavy. it is now at 5 5/8" and will be moving it to 6", I could see that it was still a bit nose heavy. All in all very happy with the flight. Going from an IMAC plane 30% to this, I can tell you, it is bloody fast. It sure is a beautiful looking plane.

RE: Classic Pattern Plane Image-base
Hi Ralph, I own an Ivan Kristensen Saturn, have been flying it but never knew where the cg was. So I play around with it. I was told that at one time you manufactured the kit, would you still have the cg location in inches. That would be greatly appreciated. I sent in my Rhom Airs to Down and Lock and what a difference re reliability. This is one nice flying plane. Years ago, I flew Don Coleman's Cutlass. I know the Saturn comes from that plane, as I was the one that had the plans from Don when I met him at toledo. So I had the Cutlass way before it came out in MAN. Those plans are gone, and it has been a long time, so don't remember the numbers. Thanks Bob Forest MAAC 4131-L

RE: Where can I buy a Katana???
Re the Katana by Pacific Aeromodels, I bought one, and I am very happy with it. I have 15 flights on it as of yesterday. She is under 15lbs, has a FPE 40cc with a Duralite 6.6 volt maganese battery with a regulator. Everything is forward except the two servos for elevator which are at the rear. The rudder is just behind the tube and has pull pull. She grooves like a pattern plane, I am more into pattern IMAC so for me she is a surprise. I also fly a Wild Hare Edge 540T and a Wild Hare 31% Cap both of these are fantastic planes. The Katana for me flies like these bigger planes. Only one drawback I feel the Katana has, is the side profire is very low and she is a bit harder to see. I attached some pics from yesterdays 5 flights I had. She does a beautfiul slow roll and hardly any rudder or elevator movement on the 4 point roll. http://picasaweb.google.ca/bforest6/KatanaByPacificAeromodels#

RE: Pacific Aeromodel Katana 1.40
Yesterday was my first try at flying the Pacific Katana. I have a FPE 40cc in it. First flight, four clics of up elevator, and two clics of right ailoron. That was it. The plane flew on a rail. It is a floater when coming in for a landing. The landings are very soft and smooth. Love the Plane. I did a few IMAC manouvers and it was the best ever. That long tail moment sure helps it. I have two other planes, the Wild Hare Edge 540 T with a FPE 50cc which is 6 years old and the Wild Hare Cap 232 with the FPE 70cc which is also 2 years old going into it's third year, as far as I am concerned this plane flies as well or better than the two bigger planes I have. here are the pics from yesterday. A friend took the flying pics with my camera, and was not used to it, so a few blury ones. http://picasaweb.google.ca/bforest6/FirstFlightOfTheKatana#

RE: F.P.E Engines-What are your opinions?
I noticed it was 2005 since I was on this topic of the FPE. My Edge 540 T by Wild Hare, as you can see I still have it. it now has over 3000 flights. Never had a problem with the 50cc. By the way I use Bell Ray MC-1 synthetic oil. I mix a 40 to 1 mix.I also use 91 octane on all the engines. That is what I like, same mix for all 3 engines. Kurt recommends this oil. I had to send back my 40cc after a crash which did some damage to the engine. The 40cc had over 300 gallons through it, and Kurt mentioned hardly any deposits on the piston, it was still very clean. He did a great job of repair and a very fair price. The 40 cc is going int a Katana by Pacific Aeromodel. That is it on the bench. I m still working on it. The plane will weigh less than 14 lbs. I also bought about 3 or 4 years ago the 70cc and it is one fantastic engine. It was in my Lanier Yak and I sold the plane after about 300 flights. Now it is in a Wil Hare Cap 232 modified to a mid wing. This plane has about 200 flights. So far a great and powerful engine. That is the plane with Jason Shulman. the JDRF stands for Junior Diabetic Research Foundation. I being a diabetic, like to promote for funding. Also as you can see I fly the Cap in the winter. Then engine starts very easily in the cold.

Do any of you know these retracts http://www.lado-tech.net/categories.php I like the idea of a all in one, just plug into the receiver. no tubing, no leaking. I have air on some of my other planes, and always some little problems. They seem to have a good reputation. but are they strong enought for the 88" Pica spit.

RE: Pica 1/5 Scale Spitfire
I read the article in the old RC Mag and they had built the first one which crashed due to the cg location. Then they built another one and put the cg 1 1/2" ahead of the cg showing on the plans, and it flew perfectly. When have the time I will type up the article as my scanner is not working. it is an old rcm mag. my kit was never opened. I will take photos of the kit and some of the stuff that is inside. Here are a few photos of the article, the front page, and then where they talk about the cg under flight test of 2nd model.

RE: 1/4 Scale RC Guys Agwagon Build.
This is how I set up my engine to make sure I had the right incidence. I used a ladder and as you can see made sure the fuse was very straight. Was able to movethe engine to the proper location, drill my holes. I also cut out part of the box for space for the Bisson pitts style muffler. Then finished it in Carbon fiber for the heat that will be generated close to that area. All worked out very well.

RE: 1/4 Scale RC Guys Agwagon Build.
I have just finished my Ag Wagon. Did a few changes. I have a FPE 40cc, with fiber optic cut off switch. Smoke pump, B&B landing gear reinforcement. I cut open a secon hatch, as I needed all the weight up front as far as possible. I have two power packs aghead of the front hatch and my main power pack for servos and receiver is a 2900 Lithium Manganeese. By having the second hatch easier to get at the radio install, and also easier to get at the wing bolts. I have pull pull for rudder, the servo is exactly where it is shown in the instruction manual. I have carbon fiber cables for the pull pull. I have carbon fiber rods for the elevator servos and used the tips that came with the kit. I will be doing engine test soon, to see if all is ok and smoke test. then maybe take her out on the ice for it's first flight. I don't like to fly my good planes in the winter, but for the first flight winter is a good time. more lift and wide open spaces on the lake. I put the cg according to the instructions, but would like some come back on were the cg is on the ones that have flown. the tank you see in the cabin is the smoke tank. the gas tank is as far up front as I could get it, if you look at the last pic you can see it down in the hole.next to the Duralite Lithium.

RE: (Cap-Edge) Flight Report
I now have 14 flights on my 91", Mid Wing CAP 232. It has an FPE 70cc for power. I have never flown a plane as sweet as this one. The landings are incredible. You will notice the JDRF logo on the wings. One in French and the other in English. This is for the Junior Diabeties Research Foundation. Being a diabetic, I want to make awareness of the Foundation. This past Sunday the Run for Diabeties was held, over 2500 runners were there for the event. The Foundation wanted my lane there, and it was a hit. Next year they would like to have it on the stage as a back drop. I told them if it is still around it will be there. Here are the pics. By the way, I really think WH should produce this plane. I am sure it would be a hit. http://picasaweb.google.com/ace1937/MidWingCAP232ByWH?authkey=Kb-YN9Njd2g

RE: Wildhare Ultimate Build Thread
Hi, I finished my Wild Hare CAP 232, with the modified mid wing. All I can tell you, is that it lands like my Edge 540, nice and slow. I have a FPE70cc in it. it weighs 26lbs. This is the 91" wing span. I have now 9 flights on it, and all it needed on the first flight was one clic of right ailoron. Here is a very short video of the landing. The JDRF on the wing is for awareness of Junior Diabeties. It is the Junior Diabeties Research Foundation. http://ca.youtube.com/user/bigplanes1
