RE: EPA adjustment problem on Prism 7
It’s hard to offer a meaningful diagnosis over the internet. That said send in your old friend\TX in for a look see, it’s free and we’ll advise if we can offer any service (parts are scarce). Worst case is your out shipping cost in one direction (unless you want it back).

RE: HS 5000 gyro problem/ ?
While it’s plausible you genuinely have a gyro problem I'd look real hard at the entire TX and helo’s mechanical setup first. The LHS is not always the best place for technical assistance. Is there anyone locally available that is well versed in helo setup, as another looking in can often realize something amiss in the TX/model specific setup. You did note that this was new radio setup for you. Is the Gyro and all new, please elaborate.

RE: Multiplex servo 65086 , 65005
Those are some old servos and they were very good servos too; if memory serves me they are compatible with current TX/RX offerings. Simply insure you have them wired appropriately to your RX in play. MPX stuff typically shared JR’s servo connector layout.

RE: WILL I NEED SHIELDING?
While shielding may improve "headroom" I'll go on record and suggest its NOT common place. The key ingredient is heavy duty-quality power distribution components a robust power supply and proper installation techniques. If you elaborate on your model specific set-up I might be able to help identify a source for your shortcomings.

RE: Help with a receiver?
Mixing two channels for aileron control and four servos is the preferred solution and typical of most GS birds. You'll have to discuss the limits of the Futaba RX with those in the know at Futaba, I suspect its all good. Be sure and utilize quality heavy duty servo extensions and or power distrubution components for best results.

RE: Slop in HS 7955TG out of the box ???
I'd look real hard at the linkage ratio and mechanical set-up. As Master Bob noted this is not uncommonly realized in the mechanical and linkage setup and is know fault of the servos gear-train backlash. You can easily confirm if the servo is the origin of the control linkage slop, install a stock arm and no linkage and see if you realize backlash with very-very slight forward-reverse motion manually applied via fingers. Do you really need 1.5" servo arms? How long are your control arms?

RE: help 3 hs-5645mg melted in my plane
It's unlikely IMO that the voltage with you specific battery pack is at fault, even with the elevated surface charge realized off charge... I'm not sure what would happen if the servo was plugged in backwards, I suspect nothing unless it's an Airtronics RX as the positive and negative leads are reversed. If the servo(s) worked correctly and later failed we can eliminate incorrect system wiring I suspect. Generally speaking high static loads, binding or poor electrical connections/components are the culprit for smoking the servos amplifier. That said servos fail, but three is unusual. What is the application or surface, all three on the same surface or? Failure modes were realized during setup? Individually failed or simultaneously we need more input to discuss problems.

Please provide some additional info on the failure modes, its unlikely that three servos failed in the same manner IMO. More likely than not something is amiss with the installation. Any chance of of miss-wiring the servos with regard to another OEM RX?

RE: Why the odd size for screws on MG servos?
FWIW: Hitec does NOT recommend the use of any industry standard thread locking adhesives (typically realized as the Loctite brand and or others) on any servo gear-trains, especially Karbonite gear trains... We have simply seen way to many damaged servos with over zealous applications of the aforementioned thread lockers... That said most thread locker manufacturers offer stuff for small screws, which is more appropriate for the 2.6mm screws if you must. There are many other products that work very well for this use and or application. I use PFM, Shoe Goo or the like. Some use canopy glue, the secret is these products are pliable and are easy to break loose with the correct screwdriver and or tool.

RE: Engine thrust angle for BN Citabria?
"The tail is about 3/4" to the starboard side from center. With the fuse is just over 4' long at this stage, that's mabey a degree off" Are you suggesting the vertical fin is not in line with the datum line as viewed from a top view? If this is the case you’re suggesting the fin is 3/4" offset to the right, and is the fin inline with the datum line or at an angle front and aft respective of the datum line? Some aircraft design the vertical fin to actually be several degrees offset to compensate for P-factor in lieu of corrective thrust at the engine and or firewall. If the firewall is out of square and it’s in the direction of the anticipated side/down thrust requirements and or corrections it may have been built as such intentionally…

RE: Engine thrust angle for BN Citabria?
Thrust in either circumstance depends on several things, airfoil, thrust line realitive to center of gravity and more; p-factor is pimary for engine side thrust. There is NO magic number, just typical results that very with every model and power/prop combination. Side thrust compensates for P-factor while down thrust helps balance out the need to re-trim the model as a result of power/thrust changes. Start with two degrees down and side and design your engine mount and or a engine mounting plate to readily accept thrust change/revisions.

RE: Lets talk servo resolution
Use the TX to set-up the MAX desired travel for all surfaces, if it’s done with end-points this is the master setting for all mixes/flight modes/conditions. Once you set-up end-points NEVER go here again as any changes hereafter will effect flight modes/conditions/mixes across the board this can be a real problem. Use the rates to realize the desired throws and or flight characteristics for each condition and or mode.. QQ 's 60* servo travel arc suggestion is required to realize the desired system resolution I noted above, more likely than not you'll need to relocate the servo arm on the servo output shaft for this to happen, it matters not where the arm is positioned with regard to the servo case as long as the servo rotates 60* in both directions with equal throws and there is NO binding. You don't even need the TX at this juncture to work out the correct arm positions. I use a 4" photo-copied protractor and a throw meter to get the mechanical set-up spot on and later employ the TX to set up the "master end-points" required to move the servo to the desired throw and surface neutral. In case I wasn't clear use the servo arm length, control arm height and pushrod length to master the mechanical set-up, leave the TX out of the picture at this time!

RE: Lets talk servo resolution
All modern TX/RXs use a total bandwidth of 1200us/microseconds for the control signal loop, that’s 600us either side of center or 1200 finite control signal/steps (matters not if the TX is 512-1024 or whatever). In order to realize the full 1200us bandwidth, travel percentages/function rates or whatever there referred to adversely effect the TX control signal output. Not all TX’s are equal some at 100% travel offer MAX TX resolution while others are reduced to 80% or so. If you guys want to see what a difference the TX settings make, use Hitec’s Servo Programmer in the RX pair mode and you can actually see the control signal/pulse width range the servo and or RX is commanded to operate at in microseconds on the display. Use of the full 1200us range of the TX and or servo will provide the best resolution, matters not whom is the OEM. MAX TX throw and using the servos full travel ARC (120*) is best IMO. While resolution is paramount, equal travel volume presents a large problem on many model specific set-ups, some are worse than others. Here is what happens; with equal travel percentages at the TX we realize unequal surface throw or deflection at the model. The reasons are generally a byproduct of the control linkage geometry and improper mechanical and TX setups. These anomalies cause the model to react differently due to the unequal control throw realized of equal throw at the TX sticks. Or in laymen’s terms the model maybe mushy in one direction and sensitive or fast in the latter. It’s pretty easy to realize these short comings with a throw meter. If you correct the throws with the TX you actually create problems, believe it or not!

RE: Eclipse 7 question
The Eclipse QPCM TX is capable of working with nearly any PPM RX, single or dual conversion as well as specifically with Hitec’s QPCM RX’s. The only caveat’s are the RX channel band/frequency must match that of the TX. QPCM like other PCM equipment is manufacturer specific, you cannot mix equipment brands. A Hitec QPCM RX is the only RX that will work in the QPCM mode. The TX is programmed to work with either PPM or QPCM modulation and the appropriate modulation shift for the PPM RX in play. The TX frequency module matters not, it will work in either modulation scheme.

RE: I have several new erratic acting Hitec receivers, HELP ME PLEASE??
The vary nature of auto shift RX's requires them to interpret the TX signal (negative and or positive shift) and work accordingly. This simply means the RX on power up listens/looks for the strongest signal on the appropriate frequency and sets itself to work therein. If you power the TX after the fact, the RX has been surfing so to speak and may not lock-in to your TX… Standard RX's are dumb so to speak and only work with a signal on the appropriate frequency and shift therefore on power up they’re already to work. In either circumstance (smart or dumb RX’s) can and will wreak havoc on the flight system if not properly initialized (TX powered up and then RX), At some point in time someone coined a phrase for this anomaly known as “hard-over. What happens is the servos power up without benefit of a control signal and move errantly at will typically travelling too extremes causing control system binding, gear-train and or motor and amplifier failures if left unattended.

RE: H9 46% ultimate (8) 5645 on ailerons
The 5645's are metal geared sport digitals and work accordingly. If you’re looking for precession servo performance you'll have to step up to a 5900 series Hitec. While the 5645’s will work on the big Ultimate I’d recommend the 5955’s or similar. In any circumstance HEAVY duty quality gold-plated extensions, wyes, switches together with a robust power system are a must with minimal connectors/couplings. The arms are fine, but will be to short for MAXIMUM throws...
