RE: hyper 7 or lx one
I have the lx2 and it is very strong with all metal gears and thick plastic pieces, metal wheel hubs etc. And it comes with the force .28 engine that shark mentioned. If you ask your hobby shop you can probably get about 8% off of the buggy. I got mine for 260.00

RE: Monster GT anyone have one?
Nice. I put all the upgrade parts on 1 truck and sold the other one with some parts for 200.00 So I got a nice up graded MGt and put an ofna force .28 on it. I got $45.00 in the truck and I got the motor off a buggy I had. It's got the FOC, 10k diff fluids, Futaba mg servos, 3 point cage, integy shocks and it came with a new set of tires and 7 more spares, and a .28 engine. Here it is Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

RE: Monster GT anyone have one?
Well, I just picked up two used Mgt's last night with three point cages, failsafes, 1 set of integy piggy backs, and the alum steering upgrade on one. Plus, 200.00 worth of parts still new in the bag and a gallon of fuel for 250.00 Can't wait to get these going

RE: OFFICIAL TRAXXAS SLAYER OWNERS THREAD
You don't need two servos. Just use the futaba s3305 metal gear servo, or something similar with a good amount of torque. The futaba is about 35.00 and is very strong. I use them in all of my vehicles, They have a 1 year replacement warranty, and I have never had one fail on me yet. Good servo for the price.

RE: Traveling with an rc car.
Avoid all problems and have it shipped where you are going ahead of time and buy fresh fuel when you get there. If there are no hobby shops nearby then have a gallon shipped there too.

RE: OFFICIAL TRAXXAS SLAYER OWNERS THREAD
Alright, here I am. A new slayer owner. I just picked up two used slayers off of craigslist for 250.00 with 4 bodies and 4 sets of tires. Yes they need some work, and no I'm not a noob. I got one truck put together completely and switched it to pull start, have not gotten it fired up yet, but I already like the trucks. I think I am going to just keep the other truck for parts, maybe just completely tear it down and clean and re build it, maybe customize it as I like. Slowly. I like the idea of having a second truck that I can take apart and when it is ready just switch the motor over, that way I can work on one at my own pace and still have one to drive. I couldn't believe I got these for 250.00. 2 slayers.

RE: New to nirto & need help
0 to 30 is a half turn. Put the needle settings to factory and start from there. Usually you can find owners manuals on line to get the factory setting. As far as the fuel not getting sucked up, that sounds like an air leak somewhere. Have you ever had a broken straw in a drink and when you try to suck the fluid up it's all full of air and you don't get a proper drink? That's what is going on. The pressure from the line going to the fuel tank from the exhaust pipe is supposed to push fuel and the line from the tank to the motor obviously is supposed to suck it up. If that seal is broken anywhere in the system and air is being pulled in it slows and or sometimes stops the fuel from flowing properly. So check for air leaks.

RE: Wanting to start in nitro buggies, looking for tips
That Kyosho looks pretty good for the price, and they make a good buggy too. Ofna also makes a descent buggy. Try looking at the Ultra lX1 its about 20 dollars cheaper so they are in the same ballpark.

RE: Oh Boy! What on Earth is this Ofna 1/8 Buggy?
Yeah that servo is the equivalent to the futaba s3305 but with 9 oz more torque. I use that in all of my cars, it is about 35.00. You don't have a motor so you can get what you want, the axial .28 is a bad ass motor for the price. Don't get talked in to a starter box, way too much hassle and money if you're not racing. If you're careful and don't break your pull cord, it will last a long time. I don't know about the panther tires because I don't use them but the pin type style I see on tower for buggies are 23.00 a set. So that is 50.00 worth of track tires. If you're gonna bash, then get a cheap motor like the axial for 120.00 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXPDU9&P=ML and use what you have for radio and the tires, servos, shocks etc... And if you take it all apart and change shock oils and diff fluid and clean it up, it will probably run great and be a good basher.

RE: Oh Boy! What on Earth is this Ofna 1/8 Buggy?
Hey Deisel2111, I have the ofna ultra lx 1, it is not junk. Take a quick look at some of these things and see if you have them. Is your spur gear, the one that is touching the clutch bell on the motor, metal? Are your shocks threaded, meaning, do the shocks have threads on the outside so that you can turn the adjustment ring on the outside? This allows you to raise and lower your ride height quickly and easily. Also look at your servos and tell me what kind they are. The ofna lx 1 sells for $280.00 and if you got it for 100.00 that is not a rip off. Even if it needs a motor. You could replace the piston and sleeve on most motors for around 60 to 80 dollars. What sort of tires are on it? Does it have any aftermarket braces? Is it the original engine or has it been changed? If you can post some pictures I can try to tell you more about it. Good quality close up pictures of the motor, tires, shocks, any gears you can see, servos etc... The lx1 is actually a pretty good buggy. RE: New to nirto & need help
Even a bad engine will start up, so unless they are locked up and wont turn it is probably the glow plug(s). So, yeah, go get some fresh fuel and new plugs and change the lines, be sure they are tight on the nipples so you don't have air leaks there. Also get the right plug. .12 and .15 use a cold plug .18 to .21 use medium and anything higher use a hot plug. Of course this is to preference so you will have to figure out what you like while you are learning nitro. And be sure your glow plug ignitor is fully charged or use a d cell type ignitor. Once you get the engines running, if they run good and then, when they get hot, you cant keep them running this is usually a sign of a bad engine that loses compression as it gets hot. You will likely need to change the piston and sleeve and break it in properly. One good way to check if the engine has good compression is to try to turn it over with your finger while it is cold, if it turns and then gets hard to turn and then you feel it sort of slip as it rolls over, it may be okay for a while. If you have an engine that just turns easily and gives no resistance, you probably have a bad motor. There are alot of things to learn about nitro, for example, tuning. If you do not tune properly then you will not be able to keep the engine running for long. You can mess up an engine quickly if you do not follow the basics. I know because I trashed my first engine in my MGT by not breaking it in and just going crazy right off the bat. I'll keep an eye on this thread and try to help you if you need it.

RE: Best way to clean a buggy?
Hey, looks like your method worked pretty good. What I do though is remove all of the electronics and leave everything else. Spray the entire car down with Orange Blast cleaner which you can get in the automotive cleaner section of Wal mart, then after letting it soak for 2 minutes with the cleaner on it, spray it down with the hose. An air compressor is great for drying it off after this but if you don't have one, just let it sit until it dries. Then you can spray it down with any sort of tire shine, I prefer the foaming one. That will leave it shiny and new looking as well as leaving a residue similar to WD 40. Denatured alcohol will wash all of the grease and lubrication out of your bearings.

This could go on and on with redvan, but personally, I believe, and I have one, that you can break 50 plus with a taller gear and an 8 cell pack in the rustler vxl. But I did find something else you might like, I am ordering one as soon as I get a coupon code from the company. 9cell 10.8 V (Lipo is 11.1) 4700mah nimh it is $99.00 just 10 dollars more than the 8 cell. 30 minute run time. http://www.maxamps.com/MA-4700-9cell-FlatHump.htm

Put that same battery on a vxl and you'll see your 70 mph just look for the video on you tube and see it for yourself.

RE: best st
45 mph, and if you change the gearing you can get higher top speeds. But trust me when I say you probably wont be disappointed with the stock gearing and speed from the rustler, if you do get it. As far as lipo goes you cannot run them down too low or you kill the battery, you have to discharge properly or else you kill the battery, if you are bashing hard and crash you run the risk of the battery exploding or catching fire ( I do not know why) which could ultimately damage your car too, you have to balance the packs while charging, etc.... Check out that link I posted, it is for an 8 cell 9.4V 5000 mah nimh that cost 100 and should push you into 55 plus mph without the cost and care of lipo. Besides when you're running at 55 with a stadium truck like the rustler and the front comes up, the car tries to fly away. So all that power is not necessarily good, but it is fun for straight line speed runs. I have a 2.5r rustler and a vxl and 2 stampedes for bashing they are all fun. The stampede outruns the slash, the rustler will outrun just about anything in its class as well as some other things. But don't expect it to outrun 4wd buggies.

RE: best st
I run the trinity 7cell 8.4V 5000mah nimh and it gives usually 25 plus minutes. I also have 3500mah 7cell 8.4V nimh it gives really good speed and power with about 15 minute run times. I use cheap batteries cause I won't pay more for batteries than the car. For that kind of money to power ratio, you can go nitro with a revo 3.3 or any other combos with axial .28 or picco .28. I hate to tell you, but you are not going to get away with this deal you're looking for and spend $300 to go 70 mph. A good battery and charger combo is going to cost you more than a vxl rustler. Get the car, use the 7cell 8.4V and look at this for your battery choice http://www.venom-group.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=VEN-1548-8T. Keep in mind if you do not care for your lipo properly they will not last very long.

Go get a rustler vxl for 280 bucks, drop a 3s 5000 lipo in it and go run into your moms mini van at 70 mph, burn off multiple sets of tires and continuously repair the thing because I'm sure you cannot control it at 70mph.

RE: Monster GT anyone have one?
Hey duckedup, actually I was in a pinch for cash and a friend offered me a G for my toys. However, he had to do some fixin on every truck ( 2 mgt's, 1 revo and the jato ). I let it all go and am going to set up another mgt only this time only 1 and NO NO NO aluminum. That was just a waste of money.I think I'm gonna go with the picco 28 this time and the same tires, hi tech servos, foc and tit. turnbuckles. Probably another futaba 3pm since the other one went with the trucks. I'm looking forward to building another one. I learned alot from all my trial and errors.

Maybe I'll mod it and put all 4 on there and add wings and have my own mgtairplanemonstertruck [>:] If you still got my phone number call me, if not, look in your e mail. I'm talkin to you duckedup.
