RE: hk 450
if this is the plastic version then yes ,use washers on the motor screws , the other thing i did on not so good landings , the motor mount isint that strong , go with the metal one . same as the vid shown above pin that plastic tail , i havent had a issue with the tail slipping just twisting . the plastic kit flyes fine when built right and loctited and all the screws going into metal, ones going into plastic crazy glued in . i also used 4 weights on the flybar (2 on each side) in toward the head , it calms the cyclic alot and it will hover better than having them out on the paddles. this is a good kit to learn on its cheaper to get a new kit than get parts for it . same kit but in the usa so shipping is quicker http://www.valuehobby.com/index.php

RE: T-REX 450 new build
i slide a piece of notebook paper folded in half inbetween the teeth of the spur and pinion, then tighten the motor to the mount , this gives a perfect fit . the spur should move just a hair before the teeth engage the motor , hope this helps, and you will still get some plastic shavings .

if you want a heli coax to fly outside this one is the best but only in a slight breeze . http://www.xheli.com/sys0bigchch3.html it also flyes almost hands off the controlls [;)]

RE: Please help me pick between 2 heli's
get the real flight basic , more than enough helis on there to wet your whistle , when you can fly all of those then you are ready . setting peramiters or getting extra stuff is fine but if you just want to fly get the basic, it has basic flying and a idle up for 3D flight . it also has planes like foamies which are fun to hover and just go crazy with them , and when you crash reset and start all over again. did i mention that you can get 10.00 off at tower [;)]

RE: Deans Connector
i think i just read this at heli freaks , or was i imagining this [:-] . i think someone posted it already but the hobby shop that solderd it probably over heated it , one of the fixes was for putting both plugs together then soldering them or get e3 connectors ??? i personally heat my gun up put a little flux on both ends , let the solder flow on both pieces and give it a quick hear and there solderd , dosent take much heat when done this way and you get a good solder joint. also , you need to hold the wire you soldering to the plug , if you cant hold it because its too hot , you did it wrong , way too much heat , let the flux do its thing .

just use the power its made for, it should either be limited to 9.6v or 12v . just dont exceed the voltage limit and it should work fine.

get the exi 450 for 57.00 http://www.xheli.com/18h15-cf450-v3-kit.html i think it is a nicer heli than the HK one, if you want something to learn on then get the plastic version for 27.00 . the cheaper one flyes fine and if you crash it just get another . i picked up the bakers dozen of them and let me tell you i am only on #2 lol. now i have enough kits to not to worry about waiting for parts .

RE: Volitation 9053
here is mine it flyes great, you need to put the battery way into the front as mine is as far as the wires let it go. i also needed to add a small fishing weight to the inside of the front canopy. i like it alot and flying outside with 0 wind is fun any wind or breeze its a kite

RE: What should my second heli be?
you should get what you want , not what others say . i have never flown CP helis ever and people always recommend a sim first , i took it like i learned to fly planes just went for it , but with a friend who was flying for a while. the smallest cp heli are the gaui 200 or the fire fox 100 , those are small only 12 or 14 inches and can be flown indoors in a large room. i say go for it and read what others have done and equiped there helis with ..... cough cough 7C cough cough [:D]

RE: which radio transmitter to buy
here is something to do before you choose one, read the pdf online manuals of the radio you want to purchase . i tryed reading the airtronics and was in a daze trying to figure it out, the jr was a good read as was the spectrum , but i felt the futaba 7C was more user friendly and simpler to program and it didnt confuse you for a beginner .

RE: Help with Battery or motor not sure
you may have a couple of problems ,the solder joints on the motor to the esc can be bad , the internal wires in the motor may be intermittent in contacting the motor or the wires going to the esc to the battery may be bad. if this is brushless , one of the 3 wires can be either broken or just barely touching each other. i would start there with all the solder joints. as for crashing you are probably a little better at it than me , i only crashed learning to fly 4 times LOL . If you need more help setting up the heli check out some finless bob videos or google him . some of the best setup videos out i think, i just wish there were more out so i can see different ways of others that set helis up.

RE: Low speed needle setup on gst 7.7........
are the new engines different than the ones with the red head engines ? i wonder if they changed the carbs on them . have you tryed to lube the o rings on the carb with green slime, that will prolong the life of them and seat the orings better in the needles . http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXSF70&P=ML without physically seeing the truck its hard to diagnose what is wrong. i do know the idle up at braking is caused by the radio idle stop and the carb is not being stoped by the idle stop needle . you could try this , take the servo horn off the servo and reposition it so it sits closed on the idle stop screw, then check your gap. you may need to subtrim the throttle on the airtronics radio but that should stop the the idle up and down on the braking.

my idle screw is not flush , i just checked it and i would say its recessed in 2mm maybe 1mm but its definitly not flush. i would need to get back to you on the fuel line pinch, i never needed to cut the fuel to shut it off before . but in my last vid it ran out of gas so that should be a indicator of how long it took , maybe 4 or 5 seconds?

forgot to mention , if the idle is set too high it will sound like its too lean . that gap needs to be set first or you will never be able to tune it .

RE: Low speed needle setup on gst 7.7........
yep thats how mine is too , it needs to be cleared out or it will stall, do what nomobux said and that will be the best for that motor. the high speed as long as it sounds good and gets up to speed without sounding its straining thats the best setting , the low is really rich as you found out , and i think i mentioned that but it only needs fine tuning a little at a time . you will know when its far enough, i usually run one full tank to warm it up then do my tuning at about half tank. that way you will get the best tune out of that engine and for that matter any engine. like i said before it took mine almost 2 gallons to finally run right , but thats because i add more oil to it so breakin took a bit longer.

RE: Best Helicopter under $40
yep those small ones wont work outside , the only one i have that works outside is this and that is only an calm with a slight on and off breeze . http://www.xheli.com/sys0bigchch3.html i also have this one and this is big ,as big as my 450 but flyes alot easier than the 450 . http://www.xheli.com/9053-volitationheli.html this dosent like any kind of breeze , if it hits some or any breeze you need to turn it into the wind and land it quick or its gone like a kite [:D] . like i said the chinnook is fun outdoors and indoors and super stable , no wind the better.

RE: Low speed needle setup on gst 7.7........
if its shutting down then you have the idle too low or it is not stopping at the set idle stop. when you hit the breaks it closes the throttle too far, so you need to set it so when you hit the breaks and turn the idle set screw till it stops at about 1mm or 1.5mm. if the idle stop is not being used and you have it set by the radio settings only it will go past it and close the carb and shut it down.
