RE: 60LX
Will the new 56 fit into the Hangar 9, 36 size sundowner? Yes its a ridiculous question but I have a plan!

RE: RE:
A DLE-20 would work great. The only problem you would face would be finding a gas tank to replace the glow tank. Be easier and quicker to just build another tank mount behind the existing. I have a saito 125 and mine came out tail heavy. Had to play with battery positioning to balance it properly.

RE: Larger Revolver
Hi guys, Just wanted to say thanks I really enjoyed really enjoyed being a part of this thread. I found a new home for my Saito 180. Gonna be picking up an EG aircraft 30cc Raven. Awhile back in this thread someone mentioned that they like trying new airframes. I have two smaller revolvers had the 70" with the 180, have two little toni's and three supersportsters. I think its time for me to start broadening what I fly a bit more. Thanks so much for all the help and advice. And the DLE-20 will probably be my choice of motor for my super skybolt. Thanks again.

RE: Larger Revolver
The same thing happened to me with my little Toni. I sent the Rx back to horizon. They said it wouldn't range check properly so they sent me back a new one. Got a new Toni and it flew fine then the same thing happened. Everything froze. Hit the ground @ WOT. Sent the Rx back and same thing. On my third Toni now. Checked the batteries and everything was at 6.9 volts. All seemed fine until I checked them under load. Voltage dropped to 2.5 volts. The battery was shot. Don't necessarily trust volt meters. What it says and what the voltage is during use under load may be two different things.

Glad you are liking your 2X the recommended power revolver. Ha ha. How is it on take off? Mine was like it got a swift kick in the a$$. Was probably at flying speed within the first 5-10'. I miss it.

RE: Larger Revolver
Taylor, A few things you can try, 1 you can install a second battery and run a two battery system. #2, you can move your throttle SERVO onto ye servo tray. If you aren't already you can run two servos for the elevator. Also you put the battery on the servo tray.

I am turning +/- 13K. Low humidity 13,150 high humidity 12,700ish. It is an amazing little plane. For me almost every landing was a dead stick. Slow flight envelope was beautiful.

Eganwp, I found that the big revolver 180 combo was faster than my supersportster. Then I only have a 46ax on mine. Running a 10X6 with a Macs muffler. Not sure what the speed is but it moves pretty good. Big revolve had 25% more top end. Same as the 59" revolver with the 75ax. Love the supersportster though. How was yours to balance with the 55 on the nose? And again typical GP the gear was weak.

Slats, This is for you. I have the 40 size mkII. Got it as my second plane after my trainer a few years back. Trainer was the alpha 40. Anyway I stripped it down and was using the radio until it died earlier in the season. Stuck an ar7000 into it. Checked everything and all seemed fine. Went to take off and three feet off the deck it started to pitch went to correct and the ailerons were reversed. Went in. A buddy fixed it for me. Its all ready to go again. Now then...let the mud slinging begin!

The 120AX and the Saito 180 are quite similar. They are both propped the same. Doubt I will get another revolver 70 though. Looking at the gp giant supersportster as a new home for my Saito 180.

His ignorance is actually amusing. He probably is a good builder, a flier I really doubt. He puts a 120AX and seems worried. He said 'if it comes back'.

And you blasted me for doubling the power. Tsk tsk tsk.. Anyway all bs aside I hope you caged the tail. It will help against what happened to me. Funny how you are offering advice when yours hasn't even been in the air. The air time referred to was actual flying time. In flight failures can't really happen in the back of your car.

Ttaylot63, Slats is our resident pain in the a$$! Don't pay much attention to his posts. He rags on people for doing something then turns around and does the exact same thing. If you need a hand with anything there are lots of guys who actually fly their planes who can help you. A Saito 125, you can put the throttle servo where it states in the manual. That motor is not heavy.

RE: Larger Revolver
Don, If you are looking for slower flight use flaperons. Spoilerons will keep it stuck to the ground but do nothing as far as a slower approach. You can program in both if you go into flight modes. And start with just 15% of your total throw until you get used to them.

S+S, Thanks for the link. But I am actually thinking more about the Twist 150. Mainly for financial reasons. H9 has chopped the price in half. It also states it can handle the 180. The funtana does not. Thinking also the twist would give me less problems and be a tad slower. The funtana looks nice but for what I want to do I think the Twist would be a better choice.

RE: Larger Revolver
S+S, You are probably right about the frequency. My goal wasn't to turnthis thing into a pylon racer. I wanted a point and shoot aircraft and vertical performance. I got that. Unfortunately also it was considerably quicker than i thought it was going to be. I had read Dick Petit's review on the Funtana 125 and a few guys had sugested it prior to the 70" revolver. Am I sorry I did it? No way! During its short lived life it was an amazing plane and I loved it. I will do it again, just not now. I hope all of you enjoy this plane as much as I did. Yes, even Slats.

RE: Larger Revolver
S+S, Sorry but I am not going to cut that guy any slack. As for his and your opinion on over powering YOU have merit to your arguments and things were added to make good at the week points. At the end of the day I would go over all the glue joints to see if any weakening had taken place and there were a few week spots that showed from time to time and glass was added. At idle the plane shook pretty bad. But as soon as throttle was added it smoothed out right away up to and including at WOT. I knew this plane was not designed for that motor and believe me I knew the risks. But the tail coming apart in flight, I did not anticipate. My concerns were how the firewall tied into the fuse and could it handle the torque. The fuse was fine. When I was building it I thought about glassing the H-stab but didnt because it seemed really strong. If I do get another the stab will either have struts or a glassed h-stab. Then that Saito 180 is going right back in. It was an awesome plane to fly. No bad habits at all even with the extra power. Also I told my wife about your suggestion to go and buy another right away, we both had a good chuckle.

RE: Larger Revolver
I do still have a revolver. The little one. With a 75AX on its nose. It wasnt lack of throttle management or the engine that destroyed the plane. The impact with the ground did. I guess you cant crash when the plane never leaves the back of your vehicle. Enjoy your Revolver Slats.

RE: Larger Revolver
To answer a few questions, size of the loop, 200 yds from too to bottom. Came down at 1/4 throttle. Full throttle at bottom 1/4. Speed? Dunno. Maybe 100-110mph. Pulled out softly. Throws were as per the book. Plane was nose heavy 5deg. Weight was around the ten lb mark. The failure was a portion of the stab and feather coming off when I hit the throttle. Total loss. The wing tube snapped at the fuse. Nothing larger than the size of my fist. Motor was a saito 180. Micro, to rebuild the tail section buy two PCs of balsa totaling the thickness of the stab. Laminate a pc of 1/64 ply in between. Sand to form and if you really feel like over doing it then glass it. That's how I rebuilt the one on my little revolver. Leave a 1/2" from the trailing edge of the stab and leading edge of the feathers without plywood to make it easier to hinge.

RE: Larger Revolver
I would love to do that. However my wife and I are playing catch up on the bills. I really like the funtana 125. Maybe next spring. I still have the little revolver, a super sportster, a little Toni that are flyable. On the bench are a super skybolt, a house of balsa P51(20) size and a gp viper. I am just a little worried about the motor. It hit at full throttle. I think it was wood fatigue. That plane was going much faster than it was designed to and weighed a bit more than it should have. Next time I will either go with struts or glass the stab before installing it.

Shouldn't the 91FX be proped to spin around 12500-13000. A buddy runs his with either a 13/6 or a 12/7-8. The motor screams and pulls bloody hard. Seems really hppy when it is breathing. Seems that 11k on a two stroke is is really low. From what you've described the motor is over working. Just my opinion.

Saito 180 here. Love the combo. Not too fast but goes where it is pointing. Weighs around the ten lb mark. Saito 125 16/6 prop. 92-9300 on 15% omega.

Saito fg 20 or 25 would be good choices. Evolution 26gt or maybe evens dle30. Depends on how much you want to redo the fire wall. My choice would be the FG20 if I could redo it.

Its not just GP though. Several H9 and seagull models are going through this as well. I don't think the design is weak. To look at it, it isn't a bad design. But the lack of proper glue from the factory is. If anything I think they should pay more attention to quality control.
