RE: Lost passion for flying, now what?
I'm still currently Active duty in the Army and when I got back from Iraq after 2 years I finely had the $$ to finish restoring my 68 Dodge charger drop the 6k to get it done. After being home for a few months driving my charger around and realized it did not make me as happy as I thought it would while I used to dream about it while in country I defcied to sell it and was diveing it crazy and hit a light pole, it took 14months for the body shop to fix it In that time I picked up flying rc and made some real good friends. I love the flying and the challenge, at the end of my first year of fly I was building my first top flight Gaint P51 then it as a big Trex600 pro, and now in the begin of my 3rd year I'm building to turbines I find I'm always looking for the next rush, or challenge as it so hard liveing every day not like being over there being shot at After I got my charger back I put it at my parents house and love going home and driving it and I'm going to bring it home this summer I quess what I'm trying to say is your toys whill always be toys buy the freinds at the feild mean way more so find a boy and get a flying buddy and a more challange plane

I agree with you about the dues with the FAA issues. What Im worried about is I hear stories of one local flying feild that went all electric becosue some one cut off there finger, and there was nose issues with nitro. Im worried one day I will not beable to fly a turbine jet not becouse of the sound but becouse someone is scared of it... Is it not AMA's goal to teach peaple? I know before I started asking my turbine buddys about what it takes to make a turbine safe, really though there was more to it, except for the CO2 fire exstingwisher there is no diff and my big gas powered war birds So if there is no safety diffrance why would there be more restrictions/ less flying locations? Ohh and this ideal that all turbine flyer are $$ is wrong, I just got my first turbine off this site for $450 shipped! And Im converting a very heavy 14s 127mm edf set up with it. This turbine is costing me less than me edf did.

First littlecrankshaf I agree with you, if a club/flying site has no phyical / safety reason for not alowing turbines then I belive they should be alowed, We have 4 guys who fly turbines at our feild pluse a new guy (me) and they do not fly them very often and wate there turn, while I under stand some guys dont understand them I think there a blast. While I can understand why some peaple don't like certan types of planes, when I first started flying our field is a big IMAC site and there were a few months there were 3-4 guys would show up on the same day wanting to fly there big big IMAC planes at 25min each getting read for a event. While all us little guys understood this, sometimes there would be some peaple who would get up set becouse they would fly for 25min at a time back to back and get upset if anyone eles would fly up there with them. They would say things like, can you afford to replace my plane if you run into it? While everyone eles sat and wated for almost an hour to fly again. So all this talk about AMA insurance, Is there othere insureance companys that provied the service AMA dose, Or did I join the AMA becouse thats they guy who showed me how to fly used? (AllState vs Gieo)

Dose AMA provied a list of all charters that alowe Turbines? As Im getting into my first one, the fear of not being able to find a flying site when I move is scarey with the $$ invested.

As a new member 3 years with AMA, and rc flying I do have issues with so many feilds haveing issues with turbines or even helis. Im in the Army, and Im building my first turbine now, Im very excited as I have flown my Delta Dart 106 electric and it was not up to my standards. But in the back of my mind I know the Army will move me in a year or two and Im haveing to hope and pray They will move me some were where there are even flying feilds and hopefully ones that allow turbines. I also don't understand if a club will let me fly my 71in Jet with 6000mah 14s lipo set up, is the hazord really that much more with Turbine? Also I know when non flyers come by our feild and wach, they love the turines and want to start flying. Not all kids get excited about foamy parkzone birds And this talk about going to diffrent clubs is not cool. I was at Army Trainning for 6 months, I brought some parkflyers and a heli thinking I could go to a local feild and fly, Nope the closes feild was over an hour away and the next even farther, I would have to stop flying if I had to drive 2 hours to get there.

RE: 200mph electric delta brainstorming
Your right the jackel has its flaws. Like the fake air intakes and no doors for the retracts but I was wrong on the speed I'm at 173mph. It was great last weekend my boy broght his falcon 120 with a 18 pound Turbin i was 3 min in and we lined up and he was already a little ahead and when wot first, buy 1/2 feild I pulled right I front of him, by the end of the feild I had 4 plane lengths on him it was great. Low budget electr prop jet vs $3500 rc jet lol Any pics of the delta design your thinking of? I just maden a Delta 106 Dart 120mm edf. It flew great not supper fast but fun I got a 63in ME 163 with some rockets in the back and electric up front could be a fun platform

RE: Are there constant load servos for flaps?
ORIGINAL: aghost mike68: I had some analog servo humming on my ESM corsair. I slide some thin paper (like a dollar bill) between a flap section and the wing, made sure the paper moved freely, then went to first flap position, checked again, then full down flaps, and checked again. Did the same procedure on all six flap sections. Found a couple of places when a flap section would bind. A little sanding cleaned it up. Brian
This is what I did, And it worked, it took a lot of time, but If I was to ever do it again I would get it the first time. Thanks for ya help. Mike

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale
Hey guys. I have a gaint scale p51, P47 and ESM Corsair I have been wanting a nice P40, had the 120 size from CMP that I loved but it was very old and used and on its 2nd flight checking CG inverted the wing dowels riped out and the wing came off So except the price of the retracts are there any othere issues with bird? I really like the fiberglass ESM P40 but this new tower price is crazy Would you buy the TopFlite again if yours crashed or would you go with skyshark, ESM? Thanks
