RE: Saito 91 intake valve leaking will not run.
Hi I had exactly the problem johngilmore mentioned , eng ran fine started for second flight and then died no compression, found the intake pushrod at the rocker arm had jumped out of its socket and was jammed under the rocker arm keeping the valve open. Mike

RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread
Thanks for the info. Every aircraft I have ever built I started with manual cg , why is esm such a mistery do they not biuld and fly their planes to figure this out and them put it in the manual. I put alot of care in my planes and would hate to have my maiden flight go vertical and crash.

RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread
Hi this came from troybuilt models web site. You might find it iteresting Mike: Halfway through mine CG in ESM Manuals CG - In general, the CGs stated in the ESM manuals are accurate. Sometimes they are a little too far rearward, and this can have dire consequences. TBM recommends that the CG be a little forward of the suggestion in the manual. Make it easy to reduce the nose weight so that you can balance the plane after flying it. Use 25% as a good starting point for the CG. For instance the Skyraider’s wing is 420mm at the root. 25% of 420 is 105, so start with the CG at 105mm. The manual suggests 120mm, so we recommend a CG which is a little further forward. Once you fly the airplane a few times and get used to it you can make small changes at a time. Don’t change it a lot all at once. If a lot of elevator and a lot of speed is required on landing to keep the nose up (because it is too nose heavy), then remove a few ounces of nose weight. With most planes which have a semi symmetrical wing (not flat bottom wing), flying them inverted is a good way to check the CG. This method does not work well with a Cub due to the flat bottom wing. In the Skyraider or similar plane, fly it inverted. If the plane slowly dives towards the ground with no down elevator, it is fine. If it dives a lot and you must use a lot of down elevator to keep it level, it is nose heavy (or it has a flat bottom wing) remove some nose weight. If the plane goes up when inverted, then yell to people to watch out because it will be an interesting landing. Aerobatic planes with huge control surfaces and large throws can overcome being tail heavy. Warbirds cannot be flown tail heavy because they will snap uncontrollably. http://www.troybuiltmodels.com

RE: Brownouts, first time
Hi Tony I do alot of trouble shooting in my job and though it is possible you might have had an equipment problem for all those models and batteries , receivers and transmitters to crap out all on the same day the odds are astronomical check into any changes around your field.

RE: Craziest thing you have done in this hobby
My first rc model was a sig kadet spent forever building it , wanting to learn properly and not crash it so I got a good buddy of mine who was a very good pilot to fly it. We had some problem starting it and dicovered my glow driver dead. He ran back to his car and got his ( he wasnt in good shape) worked like a bugger to start it ,jumped to his feet and took off did one turn back to the field and passed out right in front of me . I quickly grabed the transmitter and somehow landed it as my buddy came to. Now I look back on it my buddy could have died but I was more concerned about my aircraft.[:D]

RE: Saito FG57T 57cc twin gas engine question
Hi Darren Engine is running fine now one cylinder will always be hotter than the other on this style of engine but the differance will get less as it breaks in. The break in on this engine I think just takes longer than other engines I have had. But one thing that really made a differance to me was swithcing to a good quality oil . I was just using some run of the mill stuff and switched to redline racing oil , I think motocross bikes use it. Its a bit pricey but it works well. My engine was also a bit sqeaky before I switched. I have no black goo coming out of any exhaust now. I would say just be patient with the break in and you will be very happy with it.

RE: Saito FG57T 57cc twin gas engine question
Hi Mike I have the same engine just started running it and have the exact same problem if it is a problem. I'm an aircraft mechanic and really don't understand whats going on here, my biggest concern is damageing my new engine it also makes a squeaking noise at lower rpm sometimes. Keep you posted. About the squeaky noise I have heard alot of saitos do this ,I dont know I've never had one .A question I had and someone tried to help with is. does adequate lubrication make it out the pushrod tubes to the valves? When engine is turned by hand no squeaky and smooth as silk Thanks Mike (another Mike)

RE: quick radio question
I hook it to my power expander pro with two independent battery supplies. Both onboard battery packs are 123 2300 mha. no worries on power for a 50cc plane. Works great snd I aslo have a manual kill swich on fuselage.

RE: quick radio question
Another good electronic kill switch I use on my gassers is from TBM It also allows you to eliminate an ignition battery . less wieght here is a link. http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/items/WRCIBEFV2.html
