RE: WACO YMF
I just got a PICA 1/5 kit. Does anyone have the revised instructions that are talked about on this forum. I can't seem to get the "house of moy" site to open. Is it down?

Has anyone put a DLE engine in a 1/5 PICA. I recently found a NIB kit and was wonderin if the rear carb on these engines caused any problems.

RE: Jim Pepino's YMF-5 Waco
Big Bird I am planning onstarting this project also. I think I saw your WACO at bomber field several years ago and what a plane! You did a great job. I know all the HA's with these plans but I still want to tackle this project. Do you still have the templates for the struts and did ya'll draw the wing tibs more to scale. If you have still have these could you email them to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a 1/5 NIB PICA kit that I am going to start also. Bryan Granbury Texas

WACO YMF
would like to start a WACO YMF but having trouble locating plans or kits. I would like a 1/4 to 1/5 scale. I know of the Jim Pepino plans but reading they sound like they have alot of mistakes. Barth kit is high dollar. So what else is out there?

RE: ziroli duantless build 09
Wow you really have got alot done. I have just started back on mine. We are finally out of the cold weather and I finally have some time to return to the beast. I was looking through your last several pages of post and alot of the pictures are missing[&o]. RCU said their pic servor misses up and they would have to be reuploaded what a drag. i was just getting interested on how you mounted your engine and the linkage. Did you decide to stay with the 1/4 servos for the elevator and rudder. Your bird looks great. Keep up the good work[:D]

RE: ziroli duantless build 09
I'm thinking about the smoke idea too. Have you thought about the smoke system. I know slimline and bennetts makes them. Are you going to add a servo for the choke or just use a pull wire. I think I'm going to use a wire and save a channel. What size gas tank did you use? You are really moving fast[sm=thumbs_up.gif]

RE: ziroli duantless build 09
Great work trevor! I think the copper would work great. As edwin said pu it on a test stand and try it. I was thinking if you used some JB weld on the joints instead of solder it would hold up to the heat better. How did you decide to do the offset on the engine mount? Bryan

RE: ziroli duantless build 09
Hey you are starting to pass me up!! Good question on the engine mount. What engine did you finally decide to use. I am almost finished with my TF P-47. Going to use the DLE 20 in it and I can't believe how easy it is to start and what amount of power it has. And no more glo mess!! Maybe SBD can help us out on the mount. What size balsa did you use for the ring?

Looking good! Don't you just love the fuse[:@]. I have got mine all glassed and started filling in all the low spots and hight spots. I plan to fill the glass with the diluted bondo spot pudy method and start sanding and sanding. Keep up the good work.

RE: ziroli duantless build 09
It tended to roll to the left right during takeoff probably ending on a left wingtip roolover. Apparently the TF kit is supposed to have right thrust built into it.

RE: ziroli duantless build 09
I've been flying a 1/5 scale cub for the last several weeks and it is my first tail dragger. I tried to fly my TF 60 corsair but unsuccessful on the take off. No damage except bent robart landing gear. i think I'm going to find someone smarter than me at our local club to help me fly that thing. It kept wanting to roll to the left even when i stayed on the rudder. So I was hoping the P-47 would be easier to fly at least thats what i found researching this warbird thing

RE: ziroli duantless build 09
looking good! i know what yoy mean with that silly fuse! I'm sick of it[:@] I finally got mine all glassed last night after 13.5 yrs!!! just kidding. The plane I build I might consider paying the high dollar for the fiberglass fuse. I'm going to start back on the wings and get them ready for primer. i think I'm going to go with the diluted bondo putty method before the primer. i ordered a (don't shoot me!) ARF Top Flite P-47 60 to learn low to fly a warbird before I go and wreck this thing. Have you started thinking about the battery system. i have never builta plane this big and a was thinking of going with 2 6v batteries but unsure why to spit them up between the servos. BTW your scale detail is really putting me to shame Good job!!!![:D]

RE: engine for a TF ARF 60 P47
Thanks for the input guys. i think I'm going to look at the DLE 20. Price a liitle cheaper with more power and no glo fuel mess. i want to learn on this plane before I crash my Ziroli dauntless I'm building[:@] http://www.rcscalebuilder.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=14052&PN=1&TPN=9

engine for a TF ARF 60 P47
I'm thinking about training on a TF 60 P-47 and wanted to get some opimions on an engine for this plane. If I am only using it to learn how to fly a first warbird would a 2 stroke be ok? or should I shell out the extra for a 4 stroke saito or OS

Great looking plane frank! What do you mean the engine needs to be set back? Does it need to be mounted posterior to the firewall?

RE: ziroli duantless build 09
I got the same engine. Found one on ebay that was still the box for 500. I planning to get the slim line muffler with smoke. I dont know if I will do the smoke or not but I'll have it anyway. I'm trying to figure out how excatly the cowl should attach. I have not mounted the firewall yet. I can't figure out how far back the cowl should extend over just the firewall or the fuse? http://www.chiefaircraft.com/rcmsec/Models/Engines/Zenoah/Zenoah.html#gt80

RE: ziroli duantless build 09
Trevor, I just soaked the heck of of the balsa with glass cleaner. The pipe is 1/2 inch and the balsa needs to be 5.4cm wide to fit around the pipe. I then wraped the whole thing in electrical tape to squeeze the balsa toghter and flat until dried. What size engine are you going to use? Have you though if you are going to do the whole sliding canopy thing?

RE: ziroli duantless build 09
I just have to say you are blowing me out of the water with your tailwheel. how amazing that you just made that from scratch!!. I finished the base for the front windscreen and figured out where to put the switches. Info on the ezlam. i think it is the easiest finishing resin I have used. It is easy to spread, you can dilute it with denatured alcohol and sands easily. i even used it with the microballons on the edge of the wing saddle. i also got my .75 oz cloth from these guys. http://www.acp-composites.com/home.php?cat=255

RE: ziroli duantless build 09
Looks great! I am working on the front hatches today. i used microballonsand ezlam expoxy to finish off the edge of the wing saddle. This gave it a close finish tothe wing and a hard durable edge. Suprisingly easy to sand keep up the good work.
