yes thats a 2 speed hpi clutch bell that is the original tranny case with an hpi 86038 2 speed tranny kit installed its an hpi onroad setup but have had no problems with it shifting it runs good the engine doesnt wanna wind out 2nd though think its just a lack of power i could tweak the shift point a little though the engine has a weak top end think ill stick to my orinigal idea of slapping a OS .18 tz in it that should give me the power needed to wrap it out

RE: "OFFICIAL"Redcat Racing 1/10th BUGGY
Poppers I'm not sure mine was single speed and i changed over to 2 speed for the same reason my clutch bell had just disintegrated all i had left was the gear to be honest i don't see why (if you have a 2 speed already) that just the clutch bell and gears wouldn't work like i said basic experimentation for me my gears held up pretty good with it till i got gravel in it thats what tore the hpi setup up

109.99 lhs for it just installed one on neighbors rc10gt ive still got the mark in my hand from the blister i got from pulling like the other guy said make sure all your mixture screws are adjusted to factory it may be getting good and broke in and you just need to tune it out again mine runs great now starts easy i got it idleinng a little quick but im using a stiff clutch spring not to replace the gears i tore out today. then im gonna save some cash and buy an os .18 tz and drop in it

RE: "OFFICIAL"Redcat Racing 1/10th BUGGY
LOL ok it looks discouraging yes i agree all i did was leave the one plastic spacer out and placed a small washer in it and it fit perfectly except the shaft was a little to long going to the front diff all i did was take a hacksaw and cut it to the length of the original shaft being careful to cut the right end off due to the one way bearing setup for 1st gear( shaft is a little bigger there for it) then i took diamond do all in my drill and put a flat spot in the shaft for the drive shaft coupler its a little late tonight but ill get some pictures of it installed the clutch bell gears hit the support so i just removed it and it clears ill also throw a little video in with it if i am able of it running it sounds like an indy car when it shifts. sorry too so long to reply but my neighbor turned me into his mechanic and his OS .18 cv-r kept breaking and stripping parts in his tranny id replace one and it would break another anways all new tranny now so im sure ill be available a little more. I didnt think to take pictures when i installed it ill try to remember in the future to do that Yes my tools are a little out of date but havent bought a dremel yet

RE: "OFFICIAL"Redcat Racing 1/10th BUGGY
well Guys i replaced my transmission and clutchbell with an hpi 2 speed setup so far works great had to cut a little off the gear shaft and and adjust the spacing in my gear box but was pretty simple the kit came complete with clutchbell and gears was pretty basic setup and i can tune the shift piont from the original hole. also just put am OS .18 CV-R ENGINE ON NEIGHBORS RC-10 boy that thing flies and pulles the front wheels now just to get the gearbox to hold up. im thinking ill put a Os .18 tz motor in my buggy due to me being 4 wheel drive i bet it would clean jump straight up off the ground with it considering it is rated an 2.35 hp a complete hp over the cv-r. I also ordered some dirt hawg proline tires today ofr 1/10 buggy i hope they will fit if not i guess ill be buying wheels too.

RE: "OFFICIAL"Redcat Racing 1/10th BUGGY
ok guys ive about had it with this thing i replaced the pull start no easy task i must say every time i need something for this thing i either have to wait a week or got to lhs and adapt something to fit. so i replaced pullstart $23 replaced axes holders in rear and 2 axles $7 burnt up set of tires which are special size bye the way $61 for tires and wheels lhs oh and i forgot the clutch that broke the day i bought it $6 and the weak throttle servo right out of box $12 Now tonight not ten minutes after i replaced pull start the clutch bell shatters and sends my new clutch flying. so now i need a clutch set and clutch bell. i tell you what im tempted to change the whole drive system to hpi or something I paid less than 200 dollars for the car and i got $109 in it in 2 weeks to keep it going at first I was like oh ill do this just one weak link ok maybe two but it seems now like the whole thing is junk the .18 motor is 2 weeks old and makes a mess of things every time i start it up i already ripped the decals off the car by the time im done i shoulda spent the extra $120 bucks for a 1/10 truck at the lhs. my question is are the new parts improved or am i just buying a extra couple weeks when i replace these parts.

RE: "OFFICIAL"Redcat Racing 1/10th BUGGY
you know the funny thing is Popper the clutch bell is showing more wear than the clutches i honestly think the clutch will outlast the clutch bell and on this pull start thing wow my car is a week old and the stupid thing broke already i tried drilling the housing out and installing a 9/16 socket on the one way bearing but it seams to put a load on the motor when running what are my other starting options and what kind of glue do you use on tires took it out for a test run with new tires and threw them off

RE: "OFFICIAL"Redcat Racing 1/10th BUGGY
yes it is almost exactly the same as tornado only differance is the body colors that 180.00 woth starter kit is a good deal mine was 161 to the door with no starter kit. I found that the factory settings on mine were right on it has an idle adjust screw and a mixture screw. the one you are looking at is the excat same thing as mine. but do yourself a favor order or go to your local hobby shop and buy a hpi 87028 clutch kit and install it before you drive it at all. well im off to do my 45 min drive to hobby shop to buy tires cooked mine already. Have fun.

RE: "OFFICIAL"Redcat Racing 1/10th BUGGY
Hey hondaidiot i bought my himoto syclone about a week ago alot of fun 20 minutes after i got it out of box o broke the clutch spring. i replaced it with a HPI 87028 clutch assembly cost me 6 bucks but have no more clutch problems and I've went through a half gallon of fuel. I also replaces the throttle servo it seemed that once the original one got a little heat on it it didn't want to open the throttle all the way so i put a Futaba s3003 servo in 12 bucks Local Hobby Shop. other than that don't flip the car at high speed or hit any inanimate objects or yes it will break something but i find that parts are easy to get ahold of on-line (www.clermontmotorsports.com) has the best prices on-line and right now doing free shipping. And if you break an axes holder go ahead and replace the axle i found it bends them ever so slightly and they are only 4 dollars for all 4. The only thing I want more of outta this car is speed and ill be happy. But then again I'M HP ADDICT so enjoy and follow those maintenance items you'll be good to go

RE: "OFFICIAL"Redcat Racing 1/10th BUGGY
I have a question where do they get 55 mph plus out of box ive tuned and tuned it runs pretty good idles well but Im nowhere near 50 mph. Im scared to death of jumping the thing or even putting it on a offroad track. Should I drop an OS .18 cv-r in it or what. I also notice that when you got her wrapped up pretty good and try to turn she lifts on of the front wheels and doest wanna turn real well. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Ok new question for you. Eric of Redcat answered as best he could in e-mail But i just recently bought a himoto syclone 1/10th it is single speed transmission. I would like to upgrade it to a 2 speed can anyone list me all parts needed for the upgrade and prices for these parts and any other upgrades you would recommend getting into a pretty hot and heavy competition with neighbor wanna blow his servos off. Thanks Mitch
