Pattern Airplane/Hydeout
I just came into the ownership of a Hydeout 2m Pattern airplane. Traded it for a 50CC size Yak-54 that had been using up floor space in my shop for over a year. Now, I don't plan on fly any competive aerobatics, but it looks like something I could enjoy flying. The airplane is complete, all radio gear and engine (YS140). Only problem, no manual. If any one knows what the recommended CG location should be and what travel the control surfaces should be set for I would appeciate if you would share this information with me. Or just tell me where I can fid it. I've been all over the internet, but so far no luck. Thanks, Morris

RE: PATTERN AIRPLANE
This is one time I really got lucky. It seemed that no one else was interested in old pattern airplanes when our club has an estate sale. One of our members passed away and his family donated all of his modeling items to the club. Because no one else was bidding on the airplane and engine I just threw a $15 dollar bid out and low and behold I got both items. I flew the Speeda on Friday and Saturday and I,m very pleased with it's perforamce. Now I'll try to add a few additional pictures.

RE: PATTERN AIRPLANE
I got my SBA Speeda in the air today and just like everyone said, it is fast. I was actually running my engine (Super Tiger G-60 Bluehead) rich and still had plenty of speed. Tomorrow I hope to lean out the engine some and should really see some more speed. It looks like I have a winner. Morris

RE: PATTERN AIRPLANE
I want to thank everyone for the quick replies. After some follow up on the information supplied I now believe it is a Speeda. For power it has a Super Tiger .61 Bluedhead. I got both the airplane and engine at an estate sale for $15.00. A great bit of luck on my part. I sent the engine to Bart Phillips in New Mexico for inspection and repair as neccessary. It came back with all new bearings and piston ring. So power should be no problem. As for the airplane I installed a set of E-flite retracts and put a servo on each aileron. Now if some one could provide me with the CG range that would be great. The orignal owner/builder did put some marks on the fuslage which I believe are the CG range markings, but I'd like to make sure. If I don't get distracted i hope to fly it this week end. Morris

Kraft Radio
I need some help. I have a Kraft KP-5 Sport Series radio, that I picked up at an estate sale ($25) several months ago. It's the same make and model radio I paid $500 for some time around 1972-1974. I was able to find some one that could make it legal to use today. But, I have since lost that information. I believe he was some where in Florida. Since I will be in Florida next week and if I am near his location I would like to meet with him and have him up date my Kraft radio. I plan to put in a Tauras that I had Joe Grasso cut for me a couple of years ago. If any one out there can point me in the right direction I'll surly apperate the information. Morris

RE: Phoenix Patten Airplane
Thanks for the quick relys. Not sure which version. It has a fiberglass fuslage with a balse covered foam wing. Also got a Werba .61 in the deal. I do remember how powerful these engines were in the 60' and 790's, so I'm just hoping this still has some get up and go. Morris

RE: H9 Spitfire Build
Just lost my H9 Spitfire to dead battery pack. The Spit was my first time with mechanical retracts. I now know how fast the can run a battery pack down. Mine flew great with the Saitio 100. I now have another one on order. But before I fly it I want to put the retracts on a seperate battery pack. Do have or know of a source where I can find the circuit to do this? If so please E-mail me at mduet@austin.rr.com Thanks for your time, Morris

Did get to test fly my Taurus today, three flights. Just as good as it was thirty years ago. this one was built from a Top Flite kit. I hope to ge to work on the kit I got from Joe Grasso soon. If you haven't seen one of his kits, all I can say is that they are a work of art. Morris

If everything goes as I plan I will be test flying my Taurus tomorrow. Bought it three quarters built at a swap last year. The best part is that it will be powered by a brand new (in the box for almost thirty years) K&B Veco .61 with a Perry carb. Morris

RE: wm velox rev II : not so successful 1st flight
I have been flying my Velox for about three months now, love it. I've got it powered with a Super Tiger .61, which is a little on the light side for power, but I'll be up grading the power to a Satio 100 some time in the spring. I agree with the 1/4 by 20 nylon wing attach method. I set mine up this way and I believe it to be superior to the method shown in the instructions. The landing gear mounting plate is weak. I have replaced the 4 mm metal attach screws with 10/30 nylon screws. Of course I had to replace the blind nut plates. For me this was easy as a week ago I landed short of our runway by about 18 inches (not a good thing at our field) . Anyhow the plywood plate splintered and the damage to the air plane was minimal. I checked with a local distributor and he informed me he could indeed supply me with 4 mm nylon screws, but he would have to order them. So to get back in the air sooner I made the change. I also beefed up the servo mounting plates and moved my throttle servo forward. Anyhow I'm not a contest flyer so the Velox suits my needs for a great sport flyer. And at least it doen't look like an Edge or Extea. Morris
