RE: Ofna Hyper 7 Build Up
he PBS is hardly an upgrade, more like a sidestep from a problem, you shoukld've just swapped the cast hubs for CNC. That would have saved you a lot of cash. As for hop ups try www.nitrohouse.com and chechout the cnc shock towers from PCR. And as for the engine. Fit a boost chamber to it. That'll get it off the line quicker and smooth out the mid range lag.

I had to vote for something besides Alex because I don't find him annoying, for one he's normally in swindon when i'm racing (he's on another continent for most of you) so he couldn't possibly annoy me while i'm driving and also he's more helpful than anything especially with H7's cos he's got about 6 of em. RE: any one got a MAYHEM BUGGY!!!!
The low speed needles effects your 'take-offs' If it is taking off like a rocket then richen the LSN, if you get little or no smoke a top end Richen the HSN if it is the opposite then do the opposite. Just for reference these things are fast bu they're not that fast!!! if you are really astounded by the speed of accelleration then it is too lean!!! it should be just enough to make you go mmmmm, that's pretty good, not, wow look at that has it got jet engines on it?[:D] Personally I wouldn't use the pinch test but I have started a very large argument which involved one member getting a warning about bashing other members by saying don't do it, so I'm not going to not do it just tell you that IMHO (Important bit there, my OPINION) it is not that accurate, it will get you in the general area where the engine will run but there are lots of variables to it the biggest one being carb fuel capacity you may have a carb that holds more or less fuel than the next one, on top of that youve got where you pinch it how fast you pinch it how hard you pinch etc.[8D]

Even to look at the mayhem it looks a fantastic buggy the front end design looks great almost like a 1.5 technokit with all that alloy and it has a long list of fantastic features for the price, I don't think any buggy will ever be much different they will just slowly evolve over time Yay, more luck [sm=greedy.gif][sm=greedy.gif][sm=greedy.gif]

RE: any one got a MAYHEM BUGGY!!!!
Can't believe I've got to correct this one as well[:D] Oldchopdoc, Maybe this will help: *Pivot balls have a flat to install spacers for precise tuning that can be matched from track to track without guess work. (JA) Camber shims are included (and available) and by inserting different thickness camber shims between the pivot ball flat and the front upper and lower arms and then re-tightening the pillow ball, camber can be precisely adjusted without the need for a camber gage. 1/2 degree increment shims are available allowing camber adjustments from +3 to -4 degrees. Give you that one it's similar to the PBS system but not the same *2 bolt front top plate to change broken A arms quickly 2pts (JA) Actually this should get at least 4 points! This top plate is CNC machined from 7075 T-6 aluminum and is anodized silver. It features set screws that securely fasten the upper hinge pins preventing them from wallowing out the top plate (common problem on other buggies). This is normally a thirty five dollar aftermarket part on other buggies but it's stock on all Mayhems. OK *sealed oil filled difs NO (JA) Actually the differentials come pre-filled with diff lube not grease. In months of testing we concluded that 5000 wt. in the front, 5000wt. in the middle and 1000wt. in the rear is a great place to start and the diffs come prefilled accordingly. This is this first buggy that I know of that come prefilled with the diff. lube that you can actually race competitively! I didn't think oldchopdoc meant from stock, all buggies have sealed oil fillable diffs but not oil filled from factory *Fuel tank vents spills through the bottom of the chassis with a drain tube and has splash guard to protect brakes and electronics. (JA) The tank also has a large volume in the lid with 4 vent holes that are designed to prevent full tank lean bogs. A machined aluminum reservoir is included to put in the vent line to further prevent lean bog problems. The splash guard has holes to install the resiviour. the tank is oversize at 127cc for tracks that don't check fuel volume but a 4" piece of fuel tubing can be installed in the tank for tracks that do. This is one cool tank and I expect it will be adapted to other brands of buggies. The 4" piece of fuel tubing that can be installed is not BRCA legal, not sure about ROAR or any others but not BRCA *Loads of scalloped parts to reduce sprung weight (JA) The shock towers, center diff. brace, radio tray, front body mount plate, center chassis braces, the 4 hinge pin braces and the upper hinge pin mount are all CNC machined from very thick 7075T-6 and many of the parts are scalloped. These are commonly aftermarket part on other buggies. For stock it's unique *3 Carb inserts to adjust performance to track conditions (JA) This is the only 1/8th buggy that I know of that includes and engine with carb. restrictors. Give you that one but it is an idea taken from other RC's *Brakes capable of flipping you end over end if you set them too tight. (JA) The brake linkage is very trick and micro adjustable! ball ends are used to attach the linkage to the brake rods (not metal wire hoops with RF interfering metal to metal contact) and the adjustment knobs are easy to reach and color coded. Red for rear brake, silver for front brake and blue for throttle. Steel bushings are used through the included servo arm. This brake linkage is available under Dynamite for use with other buggies and once you've tried it you'll be sold! Actually the ball ends should be for progressive braking, most people put fuel tube on the metal to metal contact anyway and it''s never caused problems in the past as far as I know *tempered fasteners last longer and are harder to strip. (JA) hardened steel hex head machine screws are used throughout (no Phillips head wood screws) On the Hyper 7, they keep stripping.... My allen keys that is[:D] *tempered metal gears throughout (JA) Actually all the gear are machined (not cast), hardened and ground. OK but i'm sure a kyosho or something similar would have this *Engine 2.4Hp, 7 port, turbo crank and is extremely strong on low end. (JA) The engine that's included with the Mayhem Pro feature a 7 port design, turbo crank, knife edge 7075 rod and three carb. restrictors. It is truly competitive and several (under a different name) are running at this years world championships. Find another buggy that includes an engine this good! It's the engine that I've been using for the last 7 months and it's awesome and it inexpensive and parts are available. A 053 pipe is also included (not a cheap generic pipe) Actually I think you should get oldchopdoc to look at these engines, he took it apart put it back together after doing something which I will not disclose (he might make some money out of it yet) and says the power is greatly increased throughout the power band. I think oldchopdoc did pretty well actually but there are still a bunch more features not yet mentioned! Check out how the lock nuts in the steering belcranks and knuckles are inset and captured or how the tank stand-offs key into the chassis so they won't spin when tightening or loosing the tank screw. oldchopdoc, if you'll send me you address (privately) I'll send you a free quart of White Lightening fuel and a T-shirt. Others care to try! The tank stand-off things are on the hyper 7 Wouldn't mind some of that 'fuel' wink wink. In England white lightning is a very strong cider!!![:D] From you clearing it up oldchopdoc got a quite a few, If you feel you need to protest to anything I've said feel free[:D]

RE: any one got a MAYHEM BUGGY!!!!
*Steering servo can be installed lay-down or upright. Sort of can on Hyper but only with extra cost 1pt[;)] *Adjustable wing angle NO on all buggies *pivot balls have a flat to install spacers for precise tuning that can be matched from track to track without guess work. No on hyper PBS as well *Body design directs more air over the engine and allows you to run leaner and not over heat DUBIOUS *Hinge pin braces for added suspension strength ????? *2 bolt front top plate to change broken A arms quickly 2pts[:D] *sealed oil filled difs NO *CVDs are rebuildable DUBIOUS *Fuel tank vents spills through the bottom of the chassis with a drain tube and has splash guard to protect brakes and electronics NO *Loads of scalloped parts to reduce sprung weight DUBIOUS but 3pts[:D] *light weight, but strong components used in unsprung suspension areas for better suspension reaction and improved traction because tires spend more time in contact with the ground instead of bouncing up in the air DUBIOUS *Easy to adjust servo saver NO *down stop limiters on all four corners NO *3 Carb inserts to adjust performance to track conditions NO on all .15 on road engines and many others *Brakes capable of flipping you end over end if you set them too tight NO, definetely not any brakes can do this *rear wheel placement can be adjusted for and aft approx 2mm either way (4mm total) by use of installed shim spacers NO on hyper 7 at least *aluminum chassis braces and other components used where strength is a must NO *engine mounts drilled with more than one mount position(My guess is in case you opt for another engine besides the Sportwerks) NO Hypers are fully adjustable *tempered fasteners last longer and are harder to strip ????? *tempered metal gears throughout NO *rubber sealed bearings to keep out dirt NO *2 piece, light weight pivot balls 4pts *tires have excellent grip, comparable to crime fighters VERY DUBIOUS *Rims have just enough flex to help follow contours of rough surfaces for added traction and are also light weight also reducing unsprung weight DUBIOUS, you know how? *Engine 2.4Hp, 7 port, turbo crank and is extremely strong on low end DUBIOUS all engines are different Not doing too well are we?[:D]
