RE: Airtronics MX3X
I have an Airtronics MX3 sport which came with the 524 receiver. In The manual it states that 524 receiver doesnt have an bec in it. If you dont have the manual for your radio I would suggest you contact Airtronics and they can help you figure that out. I had an older xl2p receiver and I plugged a new 6 volt battery into it backwards and fried it. They fixed it for $15.00 which I thought was very reasonable. Michael J

RE: LETS SAVE SIG BEFORE THEY GET SWALLOWED BY THE BIG TWO!!!
My Second Airplane That I built and flew for over two years was a Kadet about 35 years ago. This was absolutely the best trainer out there to learn how to fly RC. My friend Hobe built several of these over the years and He used to say "You can take off your Kadet and get it into level flight and pull back to 1/2 throttle and the Kadet and put the control on the ground and the Kadet will fly itself around the field! I did see him do this many timeso over the years. I really dont want to see Sig swallowed up by Hobbico because I believe that they will do they same thing to the Sig line as they did to the Andrews Line. They will keep one or two of the kits and throw the rest of the dies and manufacturing tools away. So Lets keep SIG alive! Michael Johnston

RE: Afterrun oil
proanti1 I really appreciate you breaking this down for me and now I understandnow , what happens to engine after its been setting for a long time. I have an old super tigre x25 that I took the back cover of the crankcase the other day. I noticed a dark brown coating on the port channels around the sleeve. I would like to take this engine apart and clean it up but I scared to because I cant get parts for it. thanks again Michael J

Afterrun oil
I use a 50-50 mix of marvel mystery oil and dextronII transimission oil as after run oil for all of RC engines. I told a guy at a LHS here in the houston area about it and he told me to stop using this as it would glue the piston to the sleeve. Ive never heard this berfore and I wondering if anybody out there in the RC universe has ever heard this before. Michael

RE: team Durango DNX408 RC buggy
HerrSavage Thank you for the quick reply, Actually I said that wrong about EB4 what I meant to say was that he said the DNX was a knock off of the RC8 which I disagreed with. As for Bashing I will stick with my EB4 as its a pretty solid platform. but I wanted to play with something a little more race ready like the Dnx or even the RC8. thank You Michael

team Durango DNX408 RC buggy
Ive been looking at pictures and videos of the Team Durango DNX408 and I wondering is this a really good car to build and drive. I have TTR EB4 S@ which is a great rtr and much better than the TTR mirage from years back. But I was talking to fellow at the LHS last week and he said this was another knock of the AE RC8 which I didnt believe at all. I just want to build one and bash not really interested in racing thanks Michael

RE: From EB4 S2 to Losi 8ight 2.0
how old is your eb4 s-2? Mine is about 2 years old and Ive up graded some of the suspenion parts do to a collison with a tree in the back yard a while back. The ttr pro 21 runs pretty darn good and sometimes its a bear to start it. I have an old ttr mirage pro thats about 16 years old and comparing it to the EB4 S2 Thunder Tiger has come a long way! Ive also looked at a brand new losi 8ight 2.0 race roller at my lhs and it is very pricey compared to the EB4 S2 but if there was money in the buget I would definite get one. Michael

RE: Thunder Tiger EB4-S2 PRO
hey lez1troubles thanks for your reply. I thought that engine would go in the car with no trouble. I was also thinking about the new os maz 21 xb engine. I beleive it is similar to the vspec but its a little different and I think you can use either of the pipes you mentioned. thanks again Michael J

Thunder Tiger EB4-S2 PRO
Does anybody out there have a ttr EB4-S2? I would like to replace the stock engine with an os vzb 21 or the newer xb engine. What I need to know is, Can I use the stock motor mounts or do i have to find a differnet mount for the OS vpec? Then there is also issue of which pipe to use with the o.s. 21. Do I spend 140 bucks for an os brand pipe or do i buy the OFNA jp3 pipe? I know that stock flywheel wouldn't work with the os because it is for a pullstart engine. There is also an optional flywheel in the manual and I cant find out what the diameter of the flywheel is so i can use my bump starter with it. I hope there some one out there who can help me with my problems with this car. thanks Michael

RE: Out Camping..need after run oil.
My suggestion for after run oil is real easy to mix. Basically its a 50 50 mix of marvel mystery oil and transmision fluid. I took the head and the back plate off my thunder tiger pro 21 engine the other day and and put several shots of this mixture in the intake and the cylnder and the crankcase. I waited few minutes for it to soak in and then I turned the crank with my 4-way wrench easly. The engine was gummed up for not being run in a long time. I put this mixture in all my RC engines and they smoke a little more than usual but after a few mintues of runing it goes away. Mike

RE: Lou Andrews Plans
Hi Guys I built my first A-ray in the early 80's when Andrews was still in business before somebody bought them out and proceeded to throw away all of the production dies for every kit that Andrews had ever made. I was told this by a person at this company years back as I was trying to get some plans for the A-Ray. I was able to get some origanal planes from a an flying buddy up in SE Kansas afew years back. I was able to copy my plans and found some one to make me a couple of craftsman kits A-ray. There are very few good kits left to build out there. Michael
