RE: Scramble, Warbirds Over The Rockies in Coming
I have gone the past four years and have not had any problems getting enough flight time. Between two airplanes I burn about 1 gallon of gas per day or 15 plus flights per day.

I broke one of the flap "L" brackets on my 1/5 mustang. If I cannot find one I can make one out of steel, or fiberglass. but I would rather have the original. any suggestions?[:(]

But as I understand the navy does not write off airframes. So all salvaged navy planes belong to the navy.

RE: Spectator Access at Jet Events
I like spectators, some become pilots. and yes there are some unruly children and adults. Personally I try and talk spectators close to where I pit. Explain how much time and money you have invested in your AC and with supervision let people who are truly interested feel how much it weighs, tell them what it is made of, explain why we build as light as possible, and they break so easily.

RE: Greyhound shipped plane, LOST! , HELP!
I recently sent a plane via greyhound to San Jose. (80" box) Guess what San Jose has a Greyhound station for people and another one for packages. Good news is the package made 1100 miles in three days, bad news is they never bothered to call the buyer.

RE: Gathering of
Would'nt it be great to get all the redtails together at one event? Im thinking Tuskeegee University or somewhere nearby. It would be a logistical nightmare, but it would be impressive. Of course it would be open to Texans, Stearmans, P-39's, P-40's, p-47's, and B-25's. Did I miss any?

RE: Best 2.4 transmitter
I have been using the Airtronics RD8000 2.4 radio. I have had only a couple of issues, first is limited programming or the inability to reassign switches and some mixes. Second I used two Hobby King digitals with the airtronics receiver and lost the airplane. I assume it was due to servo power demand. Besides that I am happy with it. And for the FM guys I lost two airplanes to a faulty transmitter antenna, equipment failure happens to all brands especially with age and usage.

RE: Warbirds over west texas
the second pic of the mustang is deadstick on the maiden flight. It didnt glide as far as I thought it would and landed ten feet short of the runway. Destroyed the wing and did almost no damage to the fuse. I dont think any other cruces guys will go. I have two pilots from Alamogordo comming with me. The Jug was modeled after a one flown by a pilot from the Alsace region of France, where my mother is from. She actually has a pic of a 109G that bellied in outside of her village.

I would assume after the contact, and the wild direction change first thing was get out, then the airplane began flying again, pilot tried to fly it and realized he didnt have enough control and got out. Either way call the insurance company!

Minimizing the gap between the stab and the elevators has worked. another fix I saw that worked was to move the elevator servos into the tail.

Elevator flutter is a problem. Saw one go in at Warbirds over the rockies, Flutter on my father's, and another one I have seen.

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
another buddy of mine puts the chart tape over the primer, paints the airplane, removes the tape, and then puts on another coat of paint. result is nice, but I try to minimize the amount of paint I apply.

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
I usually get the plane ready for paint. then paint silver where the chart tape is going to be laid. put the chart tape on and paint the airframe. I leave the chart tape on but over time it sometimes will peel, hence the silver underneath.

Here are some pics of one that my father built. Mods include, shortened the nose, widened the fuselage from the nose to the cockpit, enlarged the flaps, outer wing panels are fabric, increased the taper on the outer wing panels.[image][/image]
