RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!
ORIGINAL: cgflying Has anyone installed the sullivan tail wheel on the Pawnee 40? If so does it install the same as the factory one are does it attach to the bottom of the plane?
Yes. Take the kit-supplied tailwheel and throw it as far into the bushes as you can, and get either the DuBro or Sullivan tailwheel and install it on the fuse bottom w/ the springs attached to the rudder horns. It's been a while since I did mine, but if I remember right I cut a small piece of 1/8 ply and epoxied it to the fuse underside to firm up the mounting point for the DuBro. I knew when I installed the one in the kit it was going to cause a problem, and the first time I landed in a crosswind it pulled out of the rudder and made a mess of things. This is one of the great airplanes and you're gonna love it, but that supplied tailwheel isn't a real high spot in H9 annals. Good luck!

I'll try. KMP FW190A, 72" w's, all composite, Sierra Retracts, OS120ax. The spinner's now 1/2 yellow and 1/2 black. Tried to do the spiralschanause (sp?) a couple of times but couldn't get it right. If I get one of these, this is the scheme I'll do.

RE: P-40 Brotherhood (All P-40's Welcome)
OK, sign me up! I know the attached isn't anywhere near to those posted, but here are some pics of my H9 50-sized P-40B. W/s is 55.5", electric power as recommended by H9 Epower 52 w/ 80amp ESC and EFlite rotating retracts. I know the markings etc aren't true to scale, and it isn't modeled after any particular prototype, but I like it and the white helps old eyes! Callie Graphics did the decals.... It flies just great and does attract attention at the field. If you want something that's easy to put together, looks pretty good and is a super flyer, I recommend this one.

RE: New Hanger 9 P-47 30cc and electric friendly
Guys I have the complete electric power system as recommended by Horizon for this bird. That's the Eflite Power 160 motor, the Phoenix ICE HV 120 ESC and two (2) Eflite 5S 18.5v 5000mAh batteries. I have about $730 in all this and would like to sell as a complete package. If you're interested PM me and we'll see if we can't work something out. Al
ORIGINAL: rowdyjoe Mobyal,     Thanks for those tips. That's what I like about these forums ....shared first hand experience. You can't beat it. I had to think a while before installing the tail wheel. I wanted the scale look but, I figured it was'nt worth loosing the airplane to get it ...and it's large enough to handle a fairly smooth grass runway

RE: Hangar 9 Fokker DVII
ORIGINAL: rowdyjoe Azzir,     Glad you're enjoying the trip and that you have somelthing to fly. I enjoy the fellowship too but, I also like to participate. If I can't fly, it's not as much fun for me. I'm more of a particiipator than a spectator.    Thanks for the tip on the CG. I've been wondering how well balanced it needs to be. I usually like all of my birds neutrally balanced but, haven't built or flown a bipe in a looooong time. So, thanks to your tip, I'll make sure she's balanced on the CG before I ''break the surely bonds'' with her. :) RJ
Take a look at the last piic in Post#1031 on the previous page. That's where mine balances dry, and it flies just perfect. I had to put some weight in the front to get it there, but can't remember how much. It's powered by an EVO 61, 13x6 prop. No problems whatsoever w/ the EVO engine. I've also increased the recommended aileron throw by about three times. The recommended elevator and rudder throws are fine. You did the right thing in adding the tailwheel. The fixed skid is OK on grass but is absolutely uncontrollable on pavement. On grass full up elevator and rudder all the way left or right w/ throttle bursts'll get you pointed in the right direction. Make sure you keep the full up elevator when taxiing. On takeoff once the tail gets up, stay on the rudder; it flies just great so long as you remember to use rudder in turns and rolls. Landings are a non-event. It'll three point w/ no problem, but I usually wheel land mine. Good luck. You're gonna love it....

RE: Andrews Aeromaster, Sportmaster, Trainermaster...
Neat airplanes. Attached are a couple of pics of the Aeromaster Too I built back in the mid to late 70s. One of the things that was so unusual about the Andrews kits was that real care was taken in producing them. Rare for the day, the parts actually (mostly) fit! If I remember correctly, most of the critical parts on the Aeromaster Too, such as wing saddles, cabane mounts, tail mounts etc were machine-routed rather than die-crushed. Incidences came out the way they were supposed to and fussing w/ final fits was minimal. At least for thr time. I really enjoyed those builds. Al
ORIGINAL: carlosmalone Shipping now. :-)
Picked mine up today from my LHS. Looks really good on a first (brief) inspection. It's next up on the build table.... Have three choices for power. EVO 26 as shown in manual, Eflite Power 160, or OS 120ax 2-cycle. I have the ancillarys for all three. I'll wait to make the decision unti after I've had the chance to look closely at the airplane. Any suggestions/recommendations? Thanks Al Al

RE: Mentor G (MaxFord USA) Crash, need length and diameter of the wing tube please!
ORIGINAL: cmptrguy The wing tube for my version 2 mentor g is 0.985'' x 24 3/4'' long. In metric it is 25mm x 628mm.
And for a replacement tube may I suggest you try Lowe's? A couple of years ago I hooked the wingtip on my H9 80" J3 Cub on some tall grass and bent the wing tube. It was on backorder from Horizon so I took the bent tube to Lowe's. They measured the OD you already have that and cut me a correct-length piece from 5-ft tubing they had in stock. The price for the whole thing, including the left-over tubing, was less than $10.
