RE: Heng Long Sherman review ???
I'd love to see a 75mm gun version of the Sherman but now I hear that a T34 is comming. Did HL drop the idea of various versions of the Sherman?

RE: DO NOT DO THIS!
The best paint remover for plstic I've ever used is automotive brake fluid. Overnight, clean as a whistle. Then wash in warm soapy water.

RE: Pulled the trigger on a Pz IV.
Hi ausf, The Squadron "PzKpfw IV in action" clearly shows most of the differences in all the PzIVs. Why RC tankers don't get most of the in action series on tanks is beyond me they are pretty cheap and readily available from Squadron.

RE: Cheap Heng Long's Disappearing?
I guess we'll just have to face it, RC Tanks is now a adult hobby. It's not just toys anymore. It's like all plastic kits now. Try to buy a plastic airplane, ship, or tank kit for less than $30 now. Used to get them for kids for a dollar or two. Now it's an adult hobby. Expect to pay adult prices. I'm glad I got them when I did. I got one of the first HL Tigers in this country when nobody even knew who they were. Funny thing is, even with all the spagitti wiring it ran perfectly out of the box, and still does!

RE: The origins of Heng Long tank designs
Hi Glacier Girl, When I was doing the masters for a plastic aircraft firm years ago, I was instructed that each part had to be different IN SOME WAY from any existing kit. Since a scale planes wing is a scale planes wing, and they CAN be identicle, you have to come up with a different way to attach it to the rest of the plane for example I also remember the uproar about the licencing of WW II aircraft. I didn't follow up on what finally happened but I never understood how a company could get royalties on a desigh that was funded by the US taxpayer.

RE: The origins of Heng Long tank designs
Having been a professional model maker and designer for 20 or more years, I am astonished that anyone would say that Heng Long copied Tamiya"s Tiger. The two are totaly unlike when you look INSIDE. The turret rotation is different, the suspension is different, The Airsoft gun is different. The whole part breakdown is different. Outside......a Tiger is a Tiger. A Panther is a Panther and so forth. Tamiya would have brought suit long ago if there was any copying going on.

RE: M-26 -> M-47?
Hi Pattoncommander, Do you know if Joel still has the molds for the rear deck? That would be the hardest part. I would also think HL or Tamiya could easily have an almost new product!

Old Tamiya KT
I have an old Tamiya KT with the single motor & clutch system that I bought 30 or 40 years ago. I also have 2 Tamiya gearboxes that might work. Has anyone here ever tried to run an old KT with the HL Rx18 and HL electronics? It won't be a fighter just a yard runner. Any comments opinions or suggestions welcome

Transmitter antenna length
I have several (too many) HL tanks and I noticed that the transmitter antennas seem to come in 3 lengths when colapsed, long ,medium and short. Is this for the different frequencies. If it is, I have tanks on 01, 02, 03, and 04 frequencies. Can anyone tell me which antenna goes best with which frequency?

RE: New T-23 tank
Really great build and don't you love the sound. Wish HL would do something about it. I still have some tanks with the old RX13 and RX14 boards in them and they sound great.

RE: Rumor of Tamiya T-34 for 50th Anniversary?
Instead of a whole new kit, suppose they do a redo of an existing kit? Maybe an E8, or a M46 or M47 or a KV85. It would probably have a turret so that leaves out assault guns and sp guns. A T34 would be nice but so would a lot of other Allied tanks to face all the German stuff thats already already out.

RE: HL's market.
HL's quality control is so bad no shop owner is going to stand for selling 5 tanks and getting 3 back for repair! I don't know how Amazon and others manage to keep selling them. What do they do with all the rejected returns. I'd love to get some of them!

Non S&S HL tanks
Do current non S&S Hen Long tanks come with a RX18? If not what is used for control? Surely they don't use the old hand wired boards like the RX13 and 14 any more, or do they?

RE: Sherman Mod?
The M4A1 with large hatch (Mato hull) was not fitted with the 75mm gun, only the 76 mm. The M4A3 had both 75mm , 76 mm and 105 mm guns. See Hunnicutt's book.

RE: Gear box lube
After reading your excellent thread I posted it. Just remember "a little dab will do you". You just need a drop or two on each gear as it transfers from gear to gear.

Gear box lube
I have discovered a new gearbox lube that I've been using for a couple of years now. It's called Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilazer.and is available in most auto stores like Auto Zone etc. This stuff really I mean really sticks to the gears, even to the pinion. No mess, no splash. Not one drop has come off. It's still going strong after 2 years. No need to shield your gears (accept to keep the dirt out). For less than $10.00 you get a whole quart, a lifetime supply.

RE: Thinking about a t32 build..NEED MORE PICS!
Thanks for your info on the 103 Pattoncommander. I have Hunnicutt's Firepower book on the 103, but never knew they had to travel with the main gun reversed. History of the vehicle is quite interesting.

Check the bow of that bad baby. Need a 1/16 M48 hull to even start thinking about it. Notice I said 1/16 not 1/18. Get me the hull and I'll heat-form the turret.

HL Panzer III part
Does anyone have a lower hull extension piece that fits on the rear of the Panzer III lower hull. The piece fits loosly into the slots on the rear hull plate and goes over the mufflers. Will pay for part and shipping. I hope I don't have to try to explain this in trying to order one from Mato Toys!

For a real US heavy tank that was actually produced I'd love to see an early 120 mm M103. I can dream can't I !

RE: HL Panzer III
Hi Airbrushler, Sorry to see that you went to all that trouble putting those bolts on the sproket cover. The bolts were actually under the cover and not visable. Check the IMPACT metal sprokets and you can see the sproket with bolts and the cover that goes over them.
