RE: Thomahawk or CARF/Skygate L-39??
Hi Kirk if you have facebook befriend Graeme Mears ... he is a world class model builder. Anyways he has built a skygate L39 and it is well documented on his facebook page. Absolutely gorgeous.

RE: Sky e master
It would be great to do one. I love turbines but it is getting hard to find a field to fly turbine jets. This is my favourite jet , the only problem is that they are always too heavy. If I get one I will have to show them how to pack it .

Just wondering if you would consider the Behotec 180 Gold. I have seen them run and the quality is fantastic. Just another option.

Thanks David . I know you have alot of experience . I will not be competing in any event . I just enjoy to fly these monsters. Ray Labonte sent me some pics of the plane from the factory and I think and hope that they will be even better than the old Skygate versions. My friend Graeme is building a L39 before it got sold to Comp arf and the surface detail is unreal. Hopefully they will be releasing them soon .

RE: Post your mid-size install pics
Sean I use the BVM UAT, I am very curious about the one marc sells from GBR. I think the idea is really good .I may try one of those on my next jet. I have only been flying turbines for a year and a half and have had no problems with the BVM unit . The GBR unit states that all bubbles will always go to the outside of the bottle and by taking fuel from the centre of a full hopper you will never get bubbles. I like the idea. I have never had problems with Bob's uat, but I like the GBR better.. I am also new at this though.

I had one and sold it because it was the time of the ducted fan and turbine transition . I was not ready for it then and decided to sell it . 15 years later I still lust for this plane. So many people have told me this plane will bite. I should listen but I can't get it out of my system....

Thanks John ... I have no idea why I could not find it. I am building an Ebandit and it is so much fun . I am debating to get the BVM or the large skymaster. I like the build of the BVM , it will be fun but I think the bigger one flies better .. so undecided.

Anticipating the New Hawk from COMP/skygate
I was wondering if I could get some help. I am one of the customers who put a 1000.00 deposit on the Skygate Hawk and am waiting for the kit to arrive soon. I have seen my friends Tomahawk kit with a Jetcat 160 and believe it needs more power for my flying taste. My considerations are the Behotec Gold turbine or the Jet Central Mammoth. I think the Behotec is not enough and the Mammoth is too much. Love to hear your thoughts from people who have had this plane or have flown it. Thanks ... This will be the biggest jet I have owned. I am flying a Ultra lightning now .. I am hooked on jets .

RE: Yellow Starfire Build
Great Job Kevin. I am also building a Starfire and I have to say the kit is a joy to build because everything is cut so nice and assembles like a jigsaw puzzle. I am going to make it electric. I have seen this model with an electric Dynamax go over 200 mph and land at a very slow speed Great airplane that has great performance and does not cost an arm and leg. I will post some pics as soon it is painted.

I too thank you for this thread Major Woody. I use to have a BVM F4 and sold it because I got scared about the way it flies. Jump ahead 10 years and I am thinking to buy a Skymaster F4 and got convinced to buy the Ultra Lightning instead. I am waiting to find out the flight characteristics from your airplane and get this plane finally in my stable!!!!! or maybe not again!!!!.

RE: Skymaster ARF Plus 1:5 scale F-104G
Anton ... Did you do anything to the wing, apparently the Avonds kit has modified wings to make it fly really well, I think he might have used washout in the wing and perhaps modified the airfoil, anyway love to see how this one flies, I was toying with the Avonds kit but I will be looking at this one too for some good flight reports. I think it will be a great future project.

When I had a hobby store back in the days lol . I sold a customer a BVM T33 .. He had a photo pack of that plane and did it in Presto film chrome . It looked awesome. I cant remember where he got it from , but I think it was this guy named Bob Banka that use to collect photopacks and sell them .. wonder if he is still around. I think his mail order company was called Scale-Documentation by Bob Banka

That is what I am thinking to put in a Avonds 104 There is a guy in RC Group that has a build thread that he converted into electric . Even with those little wings ,Phillip Avonds modified it to fly very easily. I know a few people who told me the same thing. As soon as finish my project I am going to put an order for that plane and this Turbine

RE: Best 'LOW TACK' Masking tape ?
3m 233+ masking tape is good for low tack the glue on the tape is water based as opposed to solvent based but do not use it for fine line just fpr masking the light green and blue fine lines from 3m all work excellent. Sometimes the problem is not the tape it is the improper preparation of the substrate -- any surface that requires extreme care before lifting does not have proper mechanical adhesion

RE: 40% GILES WITH A 120 ?
A long time ago when I first started to fly big planes I used alot of runway to land these powerful light sleek airplanes. Then one day I saw my friend Geoff Coombs land a 130 inch wingspan extra on a very short piece of real estate and the trick was to slow the airplane down by keeping the nose up and power on and using the throttle to land it just like the jets guys after that I have learned to land the largest of airplanes with very little runway. In a way just look at the guys doing harriers -- very similiar but not that extreme. Here is a cool thought - How about getting the carden 260 wings and putting it on your Giles and calling it a MX2 -- I think it has great potential. I will be getting my old Von Linsowe Giles out and converting it soon.

RE: 3w 212 in C-arf 3.3m Yak
I have a 3w200 and it is better than the 3w 150 in my plprod extra 33o however the extra weight and little more performance was not worth the money -- it is a good airplane but not a great airplane in terms of power. The reason I am saying this is that a four cylinder engine by the time you are done may not be what you are looking for-- I think you should stay with a big 2 cylinder motor -- especially of interest to me is the new DA200 coming out -- I think that would be the best choice for this airplane Just my opinion

RE: WHICH F15 TO BUY
Hey Kevin thanks for the reply . This is the kind of answer I am looking for . Aerobatics airplanes as long as they are light and set up properly can land on a dime just by gliding them down. Warbirds are heavy and need to be flown down with power so there is propwash over the tail feathers --- How about jets--- I presume they are quite heavy and have no propwash over the flying surface -- so is landing speed quite high .

RE: WHICH F15 TO BUY
OOPS sorry guys I was using my friends login by mistake. Strawboss - I have seen you write quite a bit on this forum and it seems that you are a very good pilot. My post was initially to find out more about the flight characteristics of the various F15 jet kits that are out there . You have mentioned the Avonds kit. I have not considered this kit because it seems that there is not the support that I would have that people like Yellow, Tams ,BVM, or Airpac would give me. Perhaps I am wrong -- remember I am new here LOL . I am looking for good jets with good factory support. As for turbines-- everyone told me to stay with jetcat because of the factory support and ease of use . I must say I am impressed with the Artes rhino for the quick spool up . However they also said it would be a choice for later on when you understand jets and turbines more. So Strawboss if you can spare a few minutes please tell me what the 15 flies like and how the different models perform. In aerobatic airplanes, we talk about control coupling, wing rocking, rudder authority, engine throttle response ,proper pitch and diameter for certain aerbotics, which prop is good for 3d or imac etc. What do jet guys look for in a great flying jet. I will try to build my jet as light as possible without sacrificing strength MY gosh 120 oz of jetfuel on board [X(]
