RE: AMA to close the AMA Discussions Forum
" I recall exchanging PM's with you about 'toning it down' because people were set and determined to get rid of you, and it was way above me..." that is the part of all this that bothers me. paid staff and elected folks determined to get rid of a dues paying member for no more than expressing his opinion.

RE: AMA Forums to AMA Blogs
blog submissions are only able to be reviewed for acceptance once a day????? and apparently, stuff submitted after that day's review time, do not carry over to the next day?????? what a way to run a railroad...

RE: AMA to close the AMA Discussions Forum
the AMA forums died for one real reason. there, as in the rest of the world, if the negative is removed, then the positive can not survive. the whole yin/yang thing.

RE: MA article on tip thrown glider declage timer.
hoss: technique demo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p58_JUeTDRU&feature=related ,in ff they usually call it tip launch glider. demo of rc version http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=fvwp&NR=1&v=BAQcOKe1XWQ , called discus launch. as you can imagine, the tip used for throwing needs to be somewhat reenforced, and on the rc versions, they even mount a peg through the tip to hook with the 1st and 2nd fingers of the throwing hand. last time i checked, the ff guys were just gripping with thumb and forefinger. some sandpaper like material added to prevent slipping.

RE: Dx8 still has problems
rather than argue endlessly with the folks, none of whom will ever change their minds(pro or con), just sell it at fair market value for a used dx8, i gave 275 for a DSMX version, to whoever will buy it. get yourself a futaba, airtronix, turnigy or whatever to replace it and move on with your life.

RE: Should the AMA consider changing FPV Ops 550.pdf
sooner or later, yes, the FPV stuff should be reviewed and possibly re vamped. don't think that now is the right time. with all the FAA stuff still in flux and no real concrete ideas where it will fall out, well, sure would be rough for us to set a new policy and find out a time later that it is in direct contradiction to the new FAA policy. the above also applies to most everything we could be looking to change. best to wait until after our controlling authority gets their ducks in line before we start changing our duck formation.

RE: New 3 axis stabilization in testing
i asked ET about this back in feb. below email answer from ET about use of dual elevator servos and tailerons. Hi Mongo, Thanks for the email. Dual Aileron support is currently implemented. It is possible to do the same for Dual Elevators, but since the Guardian only has one Auxiliary channel we have not implemented this feature. For now, a Y-Cable and mechanical trimming would be needed

RE: FPV SURVEY
the FBI and other law enforcement agencies will disagree with ya here. go to thailand and have sex with an underage person, let someone in authority find out about it. the will try you for it here, under US laws and you will serve the time. the only reason they do not chase you down and try you for the autobahn example is, they don't want to. not, that they can't.
ORIGINAL: tinner1 Brad, You know, as MOST others do , Kid will NEVER answer a question that proves his position wrong. His stance is that just because Hill and Brown did their flight from out of this country, they are rule breakers, even though there were NO rules against it in those countries! It's like saying if you go to Germany and drive 180 MPH on the Autobaun (sp) you're breaking the speed limit in America!!! He'll NEVER see his position has NO BASE....He just loves to RA.
RE: How I see this forum
only one change would go a LONG way towards fixing the leader member program. remove the ability to request/nominate one's self. take it to purely an honor bestowed on one by one's peers.

thanks frank, first time i stumbled on to that flame warrior site was back in 96-97. mainly just shows that what we see now in forums is really nothing new at all. been that way for as long as there have been discussion groups, and they predate computers by quite a bit.

RE: BVM Thin O-Ring Lube and UP valves NOT compatible?
the up valve seals ARE o rings, or d rings,or cup seals, or whatever up wants to call them. if up has changed their supplier of seals, then, that new material needs to be tested with whatever lube you, or they, think will work.

RE: BVM Thin O-Ring Lube and UP valves NOT compatible?
rather than damage something i already had installed: get a glass sample container with screw down lid. place a new oring in it. add enough lube to cover the ring completely. let it set for a week. fish out the ring and compare it to another new un lubed ring. stretch, compression, diameter of the ring material generally, the material will soften and swell when incompatible. rarely it will harden and shrink.

a dead horse would be a good thing for it to be. funeral expenses and it would all be over, instead of a million or so dollars a year drain of members dues.
