RE: My Nutech TBII Pro Race kit is on the way
My MT landed in Vancouver today[sm=teeth_smile.gif] and was promptly kidnapped by Canada customs...i expect they'll be a ransom demand in a week or so[sm=cry_smile.gif]

RE: Homemade monster servos
{IN RESPONSE TO A DELETED POST} Ok I'm totally lost on electronics but I can see what's going on here . I feel i have to comment due to the negative post that has been given so please hear me out: the human race has moved forward by reinventing what is available even if it means using what's available out there and tweaking it some to improve it; or doing the same thing with less effort, eg a tonegawa servo makes huge torque but for our application...steering...it's slow as molasses, along comes a man called Ian Oddie who takes a look and alters the circuitry and makes it plenty fast enough to work for our application...this is called evolution which means improving on something already there that makes it better for it's given environment..if things don't evolve then they will eventually becomes extinct..I think Darwin might have been on to something here unless you believe in the bible ad verbatim.... rendezvous944 you say reinvent the wheel but you you are totally missing the point here, you don't have to reinvent it cos the concept is sound, however, the first wheel and axle was wooden and by today's standards is totally pants but thanks to people in the past who thought like da mad maori we now have a steel wheel with bearings which improved the basic concept, so all I can say to you rendezvous944 is take your head outta this [image]http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/ww294/mooman007uk/enviromental-head-in-the-sand-1.jpg[/image] and give credit where credit is due, if we all thought like you we'd still be chucking pointy sticks at mammoths...nuff said!!! carry on the good work maori and don't let pillocks who have no clue deter you. (sorry foxy I had to vent here i hate to see creativity stymied)
LMAO, yes you might have done but pleased to inform that I got my tracking number yesterday[:)] NMT on it's way I have to say i've had perfect response within a couple of hours from nutech whenever i email them, and as for the gt5r i beleive it's still undergoing development, when you get a prototype it's just that and not the finished product. I know my MT is just that so will be working with Ethan and Chris directly off forum to report any problems if any arise.

you beat me you bugger, I'm still waiting on confirmation of my mega MT being all ready and boxed. I decided to dispense with my rampage TT so pillaged all the good bits off it... like a laut 4shoe, digi4, kill switch, 4200 flat pack, radio box and metal pawl, also have a new jrz9100t and 813 coming, , have a spare obr race ported with windowed piston and reed block to throw in if i think it needs more horsies[:D] oh and of course the 5b vrc side propipe that should be back in stock at obr end of this week[:)] I'll have to make sure I get a set of those hpi adapters as well for the selection of wheels I have laying around

yep you got the plug chop...full throttle for 5 seconds or so, cut engine using you killswitch, check for choco colour. to be honest i think iridium and platinum plugs are a waste of money...used to run them on my mx bikes and as soon as the foul or get a bit carboned up they are garbage as you can't clean them

RE: Help! 1st gas car, FG Baja Buggy Competition 4WD, need directions
if your temp drops below zero i'd do a plug chop to to check your mixture, air density can increase substantially say from 15C to below zero, temps from 2-3C to 30C doesn't change too much so and wont affect the mixture as splcrazy says you should be good without adjustments...unlike nitros that you have to change even if the temp is the same but barometric pressure changes...wow i don't miss that crap at all, i don't have to touch my needles til it gets to zero but every now and again i'll do a plug chop just to check everything is as it should be...so when it doubt it takes 2mins to check the plug
ORIGINAL: splcrazy i replaced my piston in my 5b and ran it full blast for over 5 minutes , but with a rich fuel mix , i have no problems
that's what i used to do but didn't feel i was getting enough gallons out of my cylinders...so this time with my new obr ported 30.5 i'm taking Sean Oneills advice and running in rich a bit more gentley for a couple of tanks, even my stihl leafblower and weedwacker (they use stroker 27.2's with accelerator pump carbs[X(] ) say to run in for the first couple of tanks in the manual...so i'm trying this time the gentle way to see if it actually makes a difference...i just posted Seans advice as i'm pretty sure his advice is sound also here in Canada it gets cold as it does in Romania...when it's 20C below you will have to richen the the high from 20C+ settings or your motor will seize (yep we run in the snow when it's cold...clubin has run in 40C below and had to richen it up by over 1 full turn)... the air density difference is huge with that change in temp, not trying to be an ass here splcrazy but you don't get that cold in Aussie...lucky buggers...i know I lived there[;)]

RE: Help! 1st gas car, FG Baja Buggy Competition 4WD, need directions
wow, some car for your first largescale, very nice. 1. run premix at 25:1 or 32:1 stay at and under 1/2 throttle for 2 tanks before you start tuning it for performance and run it rich, H needle 1 1/3-1 1 1/2 turns out, L needle 1 1/4 turns out...don't keep at just one speed but vary up and down, stop and let it cool after every 20mins or so 2. no, once these are tuned after break in they stay tuned, only big temp changes where the air density changes will require a very small adjustment..tip when tuning after break in make sure you do a plug chop...run full throttle for 5 secs or so and kill engine with kill switch and pull the plug...look for a nice tan colour on the plug electrode...black is too rich and grey is too lean. only 1/16 turn adjustments either way are required at a time as gas carb needle adjustments are more sensitive than nitro 3. yes they work fine...i've run mine well below zero but they do require a richer needle setting as the air is way more dense...do the plug test..but once set it'll stay set...nitros have to be adjusted for tiny temp changes gas only needs adjusting every 10-15C or so hope this helps and enjoy your baja, you have bought a sweet car

RE: redcat rampage on the way out?
ORIGINAL: RAMTech-HBF-LSF If you want something bulletproof, you are out of luck with any RC car. If you want to spend $2000 on a 2x4 baja, that will get you a very reliable buggy. Not perfect, but reliable. Expect to spend more, we all do. If you want to spend the least amount of money and get started right away, the Redcat 4x4 is most enjoyable. Spend a few hours doing some free modifications, and you will have a reliable truck. Spending around $1200 will get you a reliable truck. Some psend more, but you can't buy tons of bling parts for the Redcat, only option parts. The aftermarket guys won't be doing anything for the Redcat. The HSP facotry came out with the V2 version, and most of us found the simple mods were easy to do. So, we screwed ourselves by fixing the problems without bugging the heck out of the aftermarket guys. Phatdad had shocks, but I didn;t sell enough to warrant antoher run. So the demand went down and now there is no rush to do shocks or diff cups. Really, there are no big problems that weren't solved in the first year. As far as the Nutech, time will tell. It looks to be a good truck in the sales videos. Or the customer video with the tupperware radio box looks good for a first real world video.
I guess we did screw ourselves, as you say it costs very little to get the ramp to a fairly reliable stage, many creative owners have come up with simple effective fixes that addressed the major issues, that and good dealer/dist/factory support means the rampage will be here to stay, ...i know i'll not be getting rid of MT though my TT may have to go eventually...wife wont let me have too many rc's[:(]. As regards the nutech as you say time will tell, i'll be finding out in short order how it takes a big dose of more horsies and drunk driver input[;)] but so far looks promising

how far is your L needle out...try it at 3/4 turn out, i've found on my ported motors the L has to be less than one turn out to stop flooding.......factory setting is 1 1/4 which allows easy peasy starting but'll flood out quick.... set coil gap with a decent business card, perfect thickness (i use my onb one...seems fitting as i only run onb motors)

RE: New Kamitiro K3 Spyder 4WD with 4-wheel-steering 4WS
the belt drive kit they had used all alloy parts and it was possible to scrap the belt (non toothed and slipped like hell) and convert to chain drive...you can buy all the alloy bits seperately...all moot now as fg have their own kit. the K3 spider has been around for over a year and i've never seen any feedback on it on any forums....the rhino has been around a while and i know of one person who has/had one...kamitrofan...i believe he's here and on LSF 4ws would be good for rockcrawling but not much else really, as mentioned cut the rear and it'll flip over at any sort of speed

RE: Anything....juicy coming out soon?
I remember seeing this a while back, very sweet truck, I really wanted it at the time to go into production until HPI bought it up. it uses a few fg parts and a modded version of the chaindrive conversion linked here [link]http://www.bigboystoysandhobbies.com/fg_4x4_kit[/link] i think this inspired the kamitiro Rhino all alloy truck. The gladiator probably weighed as much as a wet gorilla but man it was cool. unfortunately i doubt HPI will ever produce it especially as an all alloy machine and definitely not with chain drive, why did they buy the rights? that's got me flummoxed...cos it was too similar to a savage and would have embarrassed them cos they didn't make it? or because they couldn't come up with something themselves and want to use it for developing their own 4x4 savvy? who knows, all i know is it stopped a really cool truck from being available to us...thanks a bunch HPI! Personally I don't think i'd buy an hpi 1/5 savage anyhows after owning a nitro one...i want Losi to come up with a 1/5 LST something of their own design and not a rebadged truck someone else builds like CEN have just done...my LST nitro was by far the toughest and best nitro truck i owned...hardly had to do a mod to it and been totally honest here it would come home in one piece 99.99% of the time which is alot more than i can say for my heavily modded savage

+1 to the pump putting pressure on the shaft, i guess performance does come at a price and one i'm willing to pay...$50 evry 18mths is worth it in my book...interesting that you and your buddy had the same issues as me. I've a newer one on my MT and it's on the bench in bits...I'll have it rebuilt and on my freshly rebuilt onb ported 30.5 hopefully tonight so i'll see if it's ok...had to strip the carb as the accel piston was stuck in due to grit...was ok prior to being stripped down other than the stuck piston...got my fingers crossed

RE: flooding 813
the jr z9100t is standard size and i use it for th/br....$130 worth...bugger..at least horizon are really good with warranty stuff. Checked all the return lines and it worked fine and also checked the needle valve and that was good. When you turned the th arm gas was just spewing out the brass spray nozzle in the venturi as if not been metered...i think now the maybe the small hole or passageway that leads from the base of the piston chamber to the nozzle has somehow gotton too big...I'll be taking a punch/hammer and drill to it to get to the internals to see if i can find the source...it'll trash the carb but it's buggered already so no loss and we'll also see if walbro return emails

RE: flooding 813
well i've determined that it's not the piston causing the problem it's something internal i can't get to...just pumps waaaay too much gas...i changed the piston and started it up and ran fine for about 30 seconds then started loading up again, then to top it off my jr z9100t servo died...second one I've had die...sent the last one back to horizon and they sent me a new one, this is a different one as i have 2 so back to horizon it goes hopefully for another warranty job. The carb has me stumped...it's over pumping and i've replaced everything that can be so it's garbage time for the body and time to order a new one. i f@#$%ing hate it when i can't find out why cos i nearly always do. Thing is it wasn't a progressive thing to happen, i was bashing and all of a sudden it started running like cack and flooding out, at first i though i'd hurt the top end but when i got it home and started into it i found the carb was the culprit. i'm gonna email walbro and see if they have any kind of idea.i'll post their reply if i get one.

RE: flooding 813
the ball in the pic is out the 2nd carb that doesn't have the problem but it was stuck in due to sand, last run out was wet hence the rust...I cleaned the piston up and this one seals good in the carb body so i'm going to swap it into the other carb and see if this cures the flooding...when i stripped it down i removed the needle valve assembly and that was in A1 shape...if it still does it with a decent sealing piston then i'm back to being stumped

RE: flooding 813
ok, the diagram doesn't show the ball/piston and spring that make up the pump...this is what i think has failed...i have been running in lots of dust until recently and then wet gritty sand the last time out when it cacked out. The 813 when used with an ada manifold leaves a half of the hole the pump slides into open to debris...i'll post pics later as it's tough to explain....this dusty grit then wears shaft and ball and piston...i just took my other carb off my MT and the ball/piston was stuck in as was the one that's hooped. this carb is nearly 2 years old...was originally on my fgbaja and has seen many gallons of fuel thru it. I cleaned the carb thoroughly and blew out the passage ways with an airline and installed new diaphram and gaskets..it is slightly better but still spits out too much fuel so i'm sure the pump is the problem....i know it's card related cos it runs perfect with a 668 on it. I'll continue to work on this so we know the cause i know slaw has stated in the past to put a dab of silicon over the exposed part of the pump hole to stop crud getting in and this will cure this problemm, i'll post pics soon as i get back to it today
