Nice to hear from you Mart, been a while, [;)] , I used to have an obsession with big, lactating hooters, but after seeing a shrink ,I resolved that issue, although I still have a penchant for extra cheese on my pizza, .... [:-] I also felt that she would help with my therapy... [:D] , Too bad I have to get injured to do "another build", but this one will be used to "sport around" the pond, until they decide to open a GX-1 cat class ? here in my district, all in good fun Mart, Thats the key.............. Thanks Matt, lol , steve ProPainter was also a bit befuddeld to my request, but the calibre of his work dictated that this "Kitty" would be more than a conversation piece, but more of a showoff/standoff piece, as it comes together, one will wonder if it'll ever get wet....but I assure you all, she will......... RE: Incredible situation!!
Well Mario, I understand your dilema, the few choices you have left is either go outlaw gas boating -(taking your chances),, ........ or electric........ Arrowshark makes a dual exhaust type can muffler that runs after the tuned pipe, with zero% loss of power or performance, and is quiet enough for me to run on "electric only" days...... My pond has some phony-baloney rules too, Good Luck Robert PS... We have a saying here in the states, "Thar's more than one way to skin a cat"....

RE: 2012 Arrow Shark xp254 Engine
I too have searched for user reviews on this engine just to check my gut feeling, and that while you might get some mileage out of this engine, I forsee CATASTROPHIC FAILURE.... sorry, don't mean to be so harsh, but my past experiences with their products have been found to be "flakey", brittle, bad/poor casting, and of/or poor temper, and most notably, dimensions that are neither standard nor metric ???? WTF ??? GOOD luck with this one,let us know how it goes... Robert

RE: FIRST CLASS PAINT
ORIGINAL: Airbrush Alley  Hello fellow boaters, For the last 18+ years  I've been custom painting Bikes, Boats, Race cars, and whatever else will sit still long enough to apply an awesome custom finish to. However, about 3 years ago, a customer strolled into my retail shop with a 5 foot long hydro RC Boat.  I KNEW 2 things at that very moment 1) I'd just discovered THE ULTIMATE CANVAS, and 2) I was going to see to it that this guy was gonna show up at his local boating hot spot,  and be the envy of his fellow boaters. Lucky for him and I both, he was simply amazed when he rolled into the shop the following week to see his Hydro on a stand in the middle of my shop, with what he described as a paint job he could not have imagined in his most vivid dreams. I still don't think the guy was as happy as I was though. 2 days later, that same customer, accompanied by a fellow boating friend, came back to my shop with each of them carrying a large scale RC Boat...........you can imagine the rest......... about a month later, I was  approached by the owner of one of the bigger RC boat builders/distributors here in the states. He was looking for a custom paint company that could live up to the reputation and quality that his customers demanded. I'd seen the work on his website before, and my immediate thought; Piece of Cake.  Guys, there are a lot of QUALITY custom boat painters out there, who do great work, at what I'd assume is a great price. However, my goal is to stand apart from the crowd, but what do I know, I'm just another guy with an opinion. At the end of the day, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So with that said...behold
You are just too humble my friend..... you should have my hull by weds. now lets get REALLY imaginative.......... Robert

RE: dual exhaust
[8|] you'll have a better idea/working knowledge of nitro engines/tuning these little beasties, if you got yurz runnin first, tuned the pipe etc...... ,and after all is said and done, and you remove the pipe ....you'll find all your power is lost..........is this what your aiming to accomplish??? IDK??? I dont like to criticize anyone for out of the box thinking.. but anything tapped into/between the pipe and engine for exaust purposes..... WONT WORK... [&:]

RE: dual exhaust
ORIGINAL: Nightow1 Here are some pix of my engine and pipe just to give you an idea of what  I have.
Wow,,,! I just read the specs on that ops .90.. impressive 6hp. @ 21000 rpms.. I dont know/recommend cutting the pipe UP to 1" of the primary divergence cone and cutting off the stinger end of the rear cone to plumb your dual ex. lines....might screw everything up..... Too bad they dont make an airplane type (shorter) tuned pipe for this engine, but just to give you the thru the rear dual exaust... HHmmmmmm... start thinking out of the box here buddy....sorry to say you might trash a pipe in the process, but you gotta bust a few eggs to make an omelet... this is what I would try first...First, tune the engine and pipe for best performance, this gives you a baseline assesment of what optimum tuning is,,, from there figger out how much space up the stinger end of the pipe you would need to plumb a "T" fitting into the bottom of the rear cone ,as furhter est as you can keep this to a minimum, just enuff to spread your exhaust and exit with your 90-* elbows.... By the way...I've never heard of this bein done...........lol....... but as long as you get your baseline optimum tuning, you will always have a starting point whilst you make your corrections.....otherwise ...I"d just run the snot out of it as it is...Good luck...MPB

RE: dual exhaust
you dont cut the tuned pipe, just the sleeve that attaches it to the motor, someone here should be able to give you a starting point, and from the lengths you mention, you cant have more than the space needed to install the tubing, you might be able to hach off all but 1/2" of the stinger end of the tuned pipe to help give you some room, but you should not cut into any part of the divergence cones, if all else fails you might have to push engine forward,or try a different pipe, ... I hope were on the same track here.....MPB

RE: dual exhaust
As long as the pipe your using for exhaust( after the tuned pipe ) is of bigger internal dia. (of the tuned pipe) performance loss is negligible...I would keep it all as short as possible,. you dont want to create any more back pressure into the pipe, thus using a bgger tubing MPB

RE: dual exhaust
I've done this before,as long as the internal dia. of your "tee" fitting, tubing and exhaust outlets are bigger than the tuned pipe outlet, you will not notice any appreciable loss of power... plumb your water outlet(s)? into the exhaust outlets MPB

RE: COG ????? gen3 cat
for those interested, jeff understood what I was intending to accomplish, maintaining a consistent COG thruout the whole tank of fuel, and suggested moving the engine forward no more than 1/4, any further would compromise the stability of the design built into this hull, I'll post the build and test results soon... Thanks MPB

RE: COG ????? gen3 cat
Thanks for your reply,my moving the engine forward 1" was to compensate for the weight of the fuel being relocated and to keep strut adj./placement as per specs,as you say, whats on paper might not work for your application, and my guess is that all R&D testing on this gen3 was done with the fuel cell in front of the engine, i chose the gen 3 cuz it does not use the drop-down motor mounts and this would allow relocating the fuel cell under the engine for improved COG and fuel utilization, I myself would not try saddle bagging the sponsons as water/racing conditions are a changing event, but this is my first cat build so the only stoopid ?? are the ones that are not asked... lol I'll bounce this off to their site (jeff) and see what he thinks... Thanks again, MPB

COG ????? gen3 cat
Howdy all,I'm soon building my first cat, insane gen 3,my ? is that it calls for the fuel cell to be located in front of engine, but would'nt it cause COG issues with a full load=(run wet) vs 1/4 full= too flighty??? I've considered installing the engine 1" further forward than factory specs and installing the fuel bag under the engine, and using the strut to compensate for overall ride attitude...I've seen several cats at my pond with hard tanks and IV bags mounted forward of engine, but the issue is as mentioned above ...runs wet till 1/2 tank, then a little too flighty at top speed as the level drops to below 1/4 , theres only that small window of optimum stability thru-out the full load of fuel.....it's hard to believe that several oz. of fuel can make this difference, but i've seen it..I can understand this point bein mute on a 50ish mph boat ,but what about a 60+ mph boat,.. any idea's 'bout this... thanks MPB
