RE: heli-max axe 400 gyro problem
Alright to center everything up first unplug the gyro and plug the rudder servo directly into the gyro/rudder slot on the receiver. Next turn on the heli make sure all trims are in the center, if the servo arm is not 90 degrees to the tail boom unscrew the servo screw for the horn and pull off the horn from the servo and position it so that the horn is 90 degrees to the boom re screw the servo horn screw after it is 90 degrees to the boom. Now that the servo horn is 90 degrees to the boom have everything hooked up (linkages etc.) and make sure the tail blades have no pitch either to the right or left. If there is any pitch in the tail blades loosen the servo screws that attach it to the tail boom and move it forward or backwards on the boom until there is no pitch in it. Also when doing this make sure not to twist the servo and make sure the linkage is straight all the way back to the tail blade pitch lever. Next tighten all the screws back up. Make sure all your end point adjustments are good and no binding occurs in the tail and no strain is heard on the servo from it trying to push it further than it can go. Now unplug the rudder servo from the receiver and plug it back into the gyro and plug the gyro back into the receiver. That should do the trick if you have any other questions just post up. Hope that helps. Josh

RE: A few gyro questions. Need help fast.
ATV is the trim for the tail motor or the limit on how much power it puts out. Again when/if you start to build your HK take a look at the gyro and motor along with the gears from cnchelicopter.com the motor was $23 with a 13t pinion, the gyro G401B was $36, and the hdx450 "new style" gear set was $15. The align hardened feathering shaft was like $4 (for 3) from helidirect. From hobbycity.com the turnigy sentry 40a esc was $33, metal tail $8, HXT900 servos all three (cyclic) were $10, MKS digital metal gear servo (tail) was $23 and the turnigy 2200mah 20c packs were $16 each. So to build my HK it was (minus radio & shipping charges) $203 all together with the battery and including the HK kit itself. Not bad for a Trex clone and it flys amazing!! FWI the gear set and feathering shaft are a must period no matter what else you put in it.

dont throw it out !!! Use it it will work!!! Put it in anolog mode set the gain to about 65-75% ATV should be set to 100% and plug it in just like they say in the directions for the axe with the futaba. None of the gyros are made for tail motors but they do work with them. These settings above are what i used on my axe with the telebee and it held great!

I'm using this one on my HK450 tail with a G401B gyro and its amazing!!!

RE: A few gyro questions. Need help fast.
Its not that i am scared of my 450 its a lot more stable and easier to fly than the axe its just that the head speed is soooo much higher i don't feel as comfortable flying it close like i do with the axe or the HBK2. I know the 450 will do a lot more but I just don't feel as comfortable flying aerobatics with it right now. I'm getting a lot better with 3d with the HBK2 so soon i'll take what i learned from that to the 450 but only after i'm completely sure i know that i can do 3d stuff with the HBK2. BTW its not like i havent flow before i've been flying airplanes for over 14 years but the helis are completely different beast. [:D]

RE: A few gyro questions. Need help fast.
Like I said its not a bad heli its got small issues with part quality on the parts i mentioned above but thats it. I got alot of the stuff for it from hobbycity. I ordered the heli, 3 HXT 900's for cylical, a MKS 480 digital in the tail, a HK450 metal tail upgrade, 2 2200mah flightmax 20c lipo's, and a turnigy sentry 40a esc. I then ordered a GL-WS2632 3500 brushless motor from cnchelicopter.com, I also picked up they're g401b gyro and these 3dx450 "new style" gear set [link]http://www.cnchelicopter.com/servlet/the-867/trex-3dx450-Complete-Main/Detail[/link]. All in all it was a cheaper helicopter that flies great even though my skills and nerves arent at the 3d level with it yet. I get nervous with this heli it really is a lot more intimidating than the axe or my HBK2 when starting to do aerobatics with it.

RE: A few gyro questions. Need help fast.
Where do you get that a new tail is less money than a new esc and a HH gyro???? Telebee is $30 then depending on what esc you get anywhere from $20-40 so that adds up to $40-70. If you do a Belt drive tail its $100 for the kit then you need a gyro another $30 and a tail servo another $20, and a Brushless motor and esc for another $20-100 then you need to a radio with end points plus the count less hours fiddling and you end up spending well over $200 to do a belt tail on an AXE. I like my AXE but after considering doing belt tail I just ended up doing buying a Esky Honeybee K2 $129.99 bought a brushless setup on ebay with the esky 5900kv motor and a mystery brushless esc $20, ran a seperate UBEC on it for another $20 and for $170 I got a belt drive and brushless heli that out flys the AXE. I did mod my AXE a little bit and now i'm running a Telebee and a Eflight blade cp pro 2 esc (repalces the 3 and 1 plus you can run a HH gyro since it has the leads for it) to control the tail and main motor and it works great plus it was only $36 for the combo esc and i dont have the agrivation of two escs but I do have the enjoyment of the HH gyro. I dont know JM2C P.S. An HK450 from Hobbycity is also a very good Trex clone, although there are parts that need to be replaced once you get it as they will fail in flight. These parts are the feathering spindle (replace with trex450se hardened on), and the tail motor gear that mesh's with the main gear (replaced all my gears with the blue set from a 3dx450).

RE: Anyone own a Warhead?
Actually still pounding on mine and still nothing!!! no breaking no nothing!!! I still cant believe this truck its great in stock form (only have my tmaxx 3.3 wheels, aluminum diff cases, and aluminum skids, with the grave digger body)!!! The sportwerks on the other hand (if you guys remember made this truck ballistic and blew the tranny up no more than 15 times on my warhead) has actually took another victim!!!!! It has now been killing my LST2's transmission now even though it has titanium gears on it and the truck comes stock with a sportwerks it breaks a little pin inside the transmission which i have replaced 4 times now with hardened drill bits cut to length. Ohhhhh well good thing I caught the heli bug as they are not a disappointing (till you crash them)

RE: CPv3 Questions Gyro/Receiver
I got a better solution than all this 2 esc garbage. If you buy the esc from the E-flight Blade cp pro 2 you can use a HH gyro and only have to arm 1 esc! Just went to this set up and OMG it awesome!!!! JM2C have fun heli'ing boys. Josh

RE: heli gyro for cpv3
Got the perfect solution and will be testing this weekend, I bought a Eflight cp pro 2; 2-in-1 Control Unit, Mixer/High-Power ESC part #EFLH1032. I will be using this to get rid of the goofy two esc setup that you have to run with a HH gyro on the Axe. I ran into problems with the arming of two escs and always having to trim it once it was armed. This esc has the esc for the tail motor (cp pro 2 also has the n60) and the main motor (cp pro has a hopped up brushed 370) since the motors are similar the draw should be about the same but this one also has seperate connections so you can run a HH gyro!!! I will be running my gy400 gyro bringing my experiment total to $37 for the esc and $19 for the gyro.

RE: What Traxxas T-Maxx or Revo?
tmaxx all the way! My dad has a revo 3.3 and i have the tmaxx 3.3 doesnt seem to be any better to me, if you put some extra heavy springs on one of each of the four corners of the suspension on the tmaxx and IMO the tmaxx handles better. The revo is no better at taking abuse they are both about equal the same freakin parts break on both aka clutch pads, tranny gears, arms. They have a lot of common parts the only reason you pay more for the revo is because of the fancy suspension. IMO not worth the extra money use the money you saved buying a tmaxx over the revo to buy more hopups. JM2C

RE: axe cp help?
If the cost of replacement is a problem i did a brushless tail on mine with a HH gyro all in all after it was all together it was only about $50. I used a towerpro 12 amp brushless esc from hobbycity for 11$ + shipping, a gy400 gyro $20 shipped, and a gp ammo 12-30-3850 brushless motor $20+ shipping (its a direct bolt on replacement for the n60 except its brushless), im using a stock cpv3 tail prop and heat sink and so far (about 50 flights) it works great!!! No brushs to wear out and a lot more tail power.

RE: Bought a new CP V3 what do I need to know?
I agree with you guys saying its a twitchy bird and i love it!!!! I feel like i'm one with the heli as opposed to waiting for the heli to do something. I feel more comfortable doing aerobatics with this bird than my Trex 450 clone. I have the HH gyro and a brushless tail I still get some osolation when i punch the rudder but it is locked in a hover. I'm gunna be taking my fly bar weights off of my HK450 to try to get it to be a little more agile like the axe.

RE: axe cp help?
Sounds like your tail motor is going, if you bought it used then it is something that definetly needs to be replaced. The reason it spins counter clockwise is because of the main rotors torque spinning it and the tail motor doesnt have enough juice to spin it in the other direction. Again if it was bought used the original one it came with is probably still in it and the brushs in the tail motor are worn out.

haha finally got my warhead evo back together after a 2 years of no use and sitting broken with its 10th (10th in a period of 3 months) topshaft gear blown out, now it runs completly stock with no more sportwerks in it. It is a lot faster stock than i remember it being and it is one of my best handling trucks (other than my Monsoon). But the funny thing is i havent had any problems with it for at least 10 runs and i've actually been trying to break it [X(] beating it up by jumping it off and onto curbs at full throttle full speed runs and quick turns hammering on the throttle and it just wont break. I am forever confused about this truck and the way i feel about it.[&:]

RE: Best RC car for under $250?
Just remember with buying a used chasis you dont know the condition of the parts. It could look great but when you get it, it could have a completely bent chasis or burned out motor. On the other hand Redcats are excellent for the money. I have one of there higher end trucks (the monsoon) but even with the lower end stuff its always very good. My brother in law had a tornado only thing that happened was he ran it into a tree and bent the chasis (was still usable) and he didnt tune the motor right and burned the motor out. The only problems i've had with my monsoon is the servo for steering and i broke the left front arms when i crashed it into my shed. Also on the redcats there is a whole support forum here on RCU and you can actually contact the owner with any questions and he is always more than willing to help. Also with the forum support they will listen to any consistent problems or mods that customers are making and they will incorporate them on the next years version of the models. For example the monsoon front bumper (XTM bumper on mine) was my idea that took off on the threads and is now incorporated on the new monsoon.

RE: is this hobby dying or is it just me
I agree with all the guys that are saying its evolving just look at some of the newer trucks we now have rock crawlers, trophy trucks, drifters, touring cars, truggys, buggys, MT's, mini's, gasers, electrics. There is literal something for everyone, but with the expansion of the hobby the companies arent going to pay as much attention to the less popular trucks until they come back into phase. The tmaxx 2.5 and 3.3 for example seemed to take the back burner so traxxas could develope the summit, the E-revo and the E-tmaxx. R&D goes into whats popular, its like anything else. Look at bell bottoms they die off for a while then every couple years it comes back so dont worry in a couple years the nitro's will be the popular thing again. Just my 2cents. [8D]

RE: Help identifing this Heli
It is a Axe cp looks like it has the direct drive tail which would mean its cpv3, also it has a blade CP canopy. You can get a brand new one for $139.95 from towerhobbies.com now and you also get $20 off when you spend $149. So I'd say order from tower and get a couple of spare blade grips and a set of blades (only parts i've broken in pretty bad crashes). It would a little more expensive but you dont know how beat that heli's crucial "invisible" parts are such as the feathering spindle, and the one above is useless without a battery which would set you back about $20 depending on the lipo pack you bought. But if you want to go the used root check out ebay you can usually pick up a slightly used Axe for $50-100 that are stock so you know they arent someones failed project at modifying. My girlie got mine on ebay for $90 and it came wth two sets of spare blades and was completely stock so i could screw it up[sm=lol.gif]. As for the Axe CP itself its a pretty good heli, and its fairly forgiving if you've had simulator or co axial experience. ps. FWI for replacement tailbooms on an Axe cp a #11 knitting needle works great and you can get 2 for $3 vs helimax's 1 for $11.99!!!
