RE: Son wants his own gas boat
My 5 year old son drives my beater mono hull and my BJ55 they both have clutchs and are not overly fast. He has his own brushless electric boats that will out run both of these boats and has no problem with them. He has been driving my over powered brushless cars and trucks since he was 3, he learned early on that if he is careless they will break and play time is over. As long as your son knows throttle control and does not just pin the throttle and wait for it to hit something to stop it he should do fine with any of the sport boats out there. Just don't get him a full blown modded 60 mph boat to learn on. I always supervise my sons driving even though at this point he never needs me to step in, I just feel it's the "responsible" thing to do.

RE: Sig 1/6 Cub Build
I am securing them to the "doubled rib" that I built into the wing. I needed to cover it first though. Good looking out though. ;)

A small amount of progress has been made, I covered the bottem of the wing and the struts epoxied in place covered.

Yes it's a 1500mah 15c 2S lipo going through a regulator down to 6V. I get a couple hours of flight time with this set up, those little servos are not very hungry.

RE: Bulldawg Plans, Anyone have them?
It needs some fine tuning but it does fly, the motor was barely running good enough to fly, I will put a better motor in it after I get the bugs worked out of it. It was a real windy day so I didn't get a chance to fly much. Here is a video of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snilxrLyIGk

Here is the interior, not much to see, the battery is stuffed all the way in the tail behind the green foam. The prop is a 12X4 or 12X6 I would have to pull the spinner off to see the pitch, but I know for sure it is 12".

RE: Bulldawg Plans, Anyone have them?
I have it almost all rebuilt, I just need to install the throttle servo. I ended up making the fuselage 2" longer so I could get the CG forward more, it is now flush with the leading edge of the wing. For the first flight I had the battery and receiver pushed as far forward as possable and my CG was 8 1/2" back, now with the longer fuselage my CG will be around 7 1/2" without adding weight. I also moved the verticle stabs to the middle. I hope that between these two changes my flight time will surpass 5 minutes, I will post some pictures of it later.

Sure I will weigh it later today and check the prop size I cannot remember right now. I have a 2000mah 2s lipo stuffed wayyyyy back in the tail. I will take some pics of the inside and post them.

RE: Bulldawg Plans, Anyone have them?
Well I flew it, I had it flying for about 5 minutes, it sure is fast. The problem is that it went into a flat spin for no real reason. I cut the throttle gave a little opposite aileron and it came out of the spin but the wing was stalled at that point and it went into a corkscrewing death spiral. I have read that having the rudder on the wing tips can cause this to happen. I need to make a new fuse, the wing is fine. I will try putting the rudders in the middle on the sides of the fuse, I hear that can help to eliminate this problem.

I have sevral hours of flight time on this plane now, it is a LOT of fun to fly. Just for kicks I put a GPS in it, I recorded a top speed of 82MPH, 9 miles of flight in about nine and a half minutes and a max altitude of just over 500'

I got the wing struts all hinged and the clevises installed. The servo mounts are in place and the elevator push rods are made. I made hatches for the wing servos too.

RE: Sig 1/6 Cub Build
Ya, I'm going to make mine look like every other Cub out there, I already bought the Solartex Cub yellow covering. I have always liked the way that they look wrapped in yellow so I'm joining the club. I have seen some other colors that do look nice and are much more original but they are just not the Cub that I have in mind.

Here is my old Falcon 40 kit with some home made floats. It was my first trainer, several years later I converted it to a float plane. It is not scale at all to any plane, but it works pretty good for what it is

RE: 60 Size Rotating Electric Retracts????
I saw that Magnumrc is out of stock, they look like a great system but who knows when they will get more in. I was hoping there was another option out there but it does not look good. I do not have retracts worth converting so I guess if I want electric retracts I have to play the waiting game. Until then the warhawk collects dust :(

60 Size Rotating Electric Retracts????
Is Lado the only company that makes a 60 size 90 degree rotating electric retract? I have been searching but cannot find any. I see that Eflight makes a 60 size electric NON rotating, but that does not fit what I need.

RE: Sig 1/6 Cub Build
No progress for a while, I'm trying to get motivated again. I have spent most of my free time working on a couple of heli's and I'm FINALLY switching the fleet over to 2.4ghz so there has been a lot of radio programing going on. I just soldered the landing gear together and ordered the covering. I am past all of the "big progress" parts and now I'm doing the small detail work. It is time consuming with very small visual gains, that's the tough part for us a.d.d. people! Hey look something shiny! Oh well, I will post progress pictures soon.

RE: kyosho dbx ve motor?
My DBX VE's esc failed after two battery packs. I sent it to Horizon and they replaced it for free. I have not found any place that stocks very many parts for it either. It is a real hassle finding parts for it. I am looking for a 11t or 12t pinion right now and cannot find one anywhere.
