RE: Bandit ARF CG w/P-80 & large hopper?
Check your elevator throw, you will need all you can get. Make sure you have some positive incidence when sittomg on the ground. Move the CG back maybe 1/8 inch at a time.

RE: Grow Jet Parts with a 3D Printer
Hi Craig, Do you find the FDM to be able to produce the same level of detail of a straight (modern) stereo lithography setup? The SLA would be used as a mold master, not for final parts. I want to use it for cockpit parts as well. We have gone through 2 lasers on our big one at work and we will not get another (40K each with labor). There is so much over capacity here that it is cheaper to vend out the jobs. Regards,

RE: Kingcat wheel and brake question?
LOL no that F-5 is a completely different animal. I am tying to get my super bandit going again and I kept bending the stock struts.

RE: Plumbing question...
I had a plug on the vent of a BVM F-4 with a P-160. I left the plug on for one (short) flight and I think it did 1.5 laps before the turbine quit, the pump voltage gets too high and it shuts down. It did not break the tanks, at least in that configuration. I have however ruptured the tanks on a Bandit by fueling with the vent closed (with just a little piece of fuel tube over a brass tube, incredible) I have used flush vents with no trouble. I had a droppable wet tank that had a flush vent it had no effect on the Jetcat turbine. In any case make sure the vent does not hit the ground when the gear is down or does not foul whatever stand you put it on or case you put it in or foam you slide it on, etc.

RE: Kingcat wheel and brake question?
OK Harley wins the Cupie doll. Looks like Kingcat wheels will not fit because of width. I will have to try to make stock BVM 3 inchers work or perhaps 3 inch Intairco. Todd is helping me with that right now. Thanks again everyone,

RE: Kingcat wheel and brake question?
Thanks John and Raf, appreciate it. Raf, the thing Todd sells goes in the other direction, it lets you use 3/16 axles in a 1/4 strut. I am going the other way, I want to use 1/4 axles in a wheel designed for 3/16. These ( http://www.mcmaster.com/#6391k127/=4chixh ) look close but in my experience when you get open the wheel boss on the BVM wheels and it gets too thin you start having troubles at least when I tried wheel bearings years ago.

Kingcat wheel and brake question?
Hi guys, I am trying to shoe horn Kingcat wheels and brakes into a spot they were not designed for. So I am looking for: 1.) The overall diameter and width of the tire. 2.) The diameter of the brake (the outer edge of the brake aluminum hub) 3.) Confirm that the flange width of the brake is 1/2 inch. Also, has anyone had any luck finding/making 1/4 inch bushings for the stock (2 5/8) BVM wheels yet? Thanks very much in advance,

Hello Dave, I would call JetCat USA. It sounds like you have done as much troubleshooting as you can. It can be a failure at the ECU or on the front board in the turbine. Bob can walk you through it. Regards,

RE: 1/8th scale B-1B
I have seen those air bung holes cast into the mold then filled with wax before the layup. After the part has set they melt the wax out of the bung then pour about a 1/4 cup of water down the bung......THEN hook the air up behind that water. Put the air on and then part jumps right out.

RE: Any F-105 Thunderchief plans or kits?
Too small. I think I saw the one and only flight of one about 10 years ago at Superman. Landed at about 75-80 mph and broke the gear. Flew decent in the air. I don't think the gear fit in the retracted position either.

RE: First Flame-Out
Hi Raf,
ORIGINAL: ravill If I didn't have a free channel open on my reciever, could I use a Y harness from say, my rudder eg to the aux channel on the ECU? Or could I use a Y on the throttle output from the reciever if I didn't have any open slots on my reciever?
Yes that is fine, you just get a tiny bit more redundancy if you plug into 2 different ports, but as I said this is just a tiny thing, good rule of thumb
ORIGINAL: ravill And, the recommendation is for 1/10 oz (3 cc or 3 milliliters) per 5 gallons of kero or Jet A?
Yes, no difference. 0.1 fl ounce of pure Stadis 450 per 5 gallons of any fuel. For best results, if it sets more than a couple of months, add another dose (within reason you cannot put in too much). Dreamworks is selling this pure form and I believe BVM will start soon if he does not already. Regards,
ORIGINAL: Kmarks However right before David Shulman began the start up sequence, we could not get the start up flashing lights??? I opened up the canopy area to have a look see, made sure all wires were plugged in, and sure enough the jetcat ECU came to life.
Sorry for your troubles and am glad you had minimal damage. From your description, this sounds like a textbook intermittent (loose) connection. Go over all of the wiring, solder joint etc with a fine tooth comb. Regards,
ORIGINAL: craigdyer Any bad points one would need to know about...
Yes the 14 fasteners to hold the wings on are about 12 too many (my Bobcat has 2) Seriously it is a nice plane if you can leave it assembled. it takes forever to put together at the field. Best flying jet IMHO.

RE: First Flame-Out
Hi Jeff, First nice speaking with you today. As I said, in my experience the most likely (but not the only) cause of the "powerfail" message is an interruption of the power from either the ECU battery or the RX battery. This is why I like to run RX 2 batteries/switches, and I like fail safe (regulator based) switches and use multiple ports to the RX. Also, I hook up the aux line to the RX even if you do not use it in order to provide the greatest redundancy possible. BTW I did this on my little Stingray, after probably 2 hundred flights I started getting power failures, maybe every 15 flights. I ended up changing wiring, switches, etc but it was not until I pulled out ALL of the (good) batteries and their associated switches, regulators and wiring and replaced them did the problem go away. Never had another problem for hundreds more flights. Never knew which battery it was, but they all went to recycling! For the Stadis 450 conductivity enhancer, run .1 ounces per 5 gallons. This is much more concentrated that we first used. We were using concentrations designed for static prevention during full scale refueling operations. When we spoke with the application engineer, and he understood our main problem (sloshing fuel in large kevlar tanks) he recommended the new concentration. Hope that helps,

RE: First Flame-Out
Hi George, I hear you but these back and forths online take a long time to resolve, meanwhile the guy with the problem has to wait. So if it comes down to taking 3 days of messages to figure out what I can do to help instead of a 10 minute phone call, I will choose the latter. Unfortunately, the misinformation on these forums is reaching a new high lately. This thread is already being pointed to on one of the other pointless mudraking threads. I have thousands of posts helping people online publicly, I know of other vendors that avoid RCU public posts like the plague. If there is something I can help with online I always do. Rest assured if anything usable comes from this I will post it like I have hundreds of times in the past. Respectfully,

RE: Skymaster Mig-29 VT Gyro help
FYI that is not just a 3 axis gyro but a 3 axis accelerometer package as well. This is basically like a poor mans attitude reference. It is devices like this that get us one small step closer to fully autonomous flying models.

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
Strong field strength near radars can cause problems in certain electronics systems. In some cases the fields effect the value of certain passive devices and can cause tuned circuits to go out of tune. Try different servos.

RE: Internal linkages
Here is one of the only commercial ones I know about. http://www.irfmachineworks.com/rds/ In princepal they are a torque rod skewed at an angle. The angel of the bend in the rod determines the amount of throw. I have seen them used on scale and some fast gliders. The way they work seems to magnify slop, so they need extreme precision IMHO to be used on anything fast.

RE: Jetcat ecu and Lipos.
Hello, IF the ECU was modified in the USA, it will be marked "A123". No it is not standard, the customer must request the modification. I have no knowledge what Germany is doing. I mist be able to find out in a few days. But I do know what USA is doing and they are marked A123. Hope that helps,
