RE: lipo battery charging ??
I use a 15 volt, 7 amp laptop charger. Works great and is cheap. Find them on ebay for 10 bucks.

RE: Electrifying a great planes extra300 .46 size
I usually build a plywood box to extend the firewall and mount the motor to that.

RE: synchronizing engines
I concur with Gizmo. I have flown several twins and I read an article a number of years ago in RCM. The builder and flyer in that article said to tune each engine individually, start them and go fly. They will "sync" in the air and they always do. I have owned a lot of Saito's over the years and if you break them in as described in the directions, they will run flawlessly. Another tip in the article was if you have an engine out, shut down the other engine and deadstick the landing. Of course he was describing twins and not multiengines. Good luck and that is an awesome looking plane.

RE: JR XP6102 battery conversion.
I fly a LiPo transmitter battery and only charge that battery about once a month or less. the only disadvantage is if you leave your transmitter on you will cook the battery by overdischarging it. I have been using a LiPo tranmitter battery for 2 seasons now with no problems.

RE: Electric Planes
I also use a receiver pack when setting up and working on the electrics. Not because I am afraid of the LiPo, but I am very cautious about the motor turning on by accident. This removes that threat.

RE: Another hinge question
Another tip is to push a couple of t-pins through the center line of the hinge. This will keep the hinge from pushing too far and allow for equal amount of hinging material on both sides of the center line.

RE: 4 Stroke Throttle Linkage
I have used all three methods and it depends on the application it is being applied to. I would use the single bend or the servo arm method.

RE: Skyraider Mach 1 and FS52AR engine?
ORIGINAL: Maglin So I have to thank a new friend who happens to be an experienced pilot who managed to control a very out of wack elevator. Upon take off it was vertical and then straight down and then vertical and so on and so forth. He managed to land it off the runway in the grass and we adjusted all the flight surfaces and he was able to trim it out. I had to add a bit of down thrust to the motor as it would just start to clime on power. I have to say the four stroke is a huge win. I started with a 11x7 MAS prop and it was fast. The motor was spinning 11K RPM on the ground and not to sure how much in flight unloaded but it was screaming. My only other 11'' prop was a 11x8 APC. I put that on and now was right at 9300 RPMs on the ground and it was a lot more manageable in flight with no over revving. It seemed to actually slow the plane down some probably because it is to much pitch for the motor but it was the ticket until my 11x7 and 11x6 APC props arrive. The cheap little four stroke idles at 2600 rpms currently and every tank it got better. I've got maybe 8 tanks through it now. I think I flew it for about 20 minutes and still have just under a half tank of fuel in it. It does really well on fuel. My other buddy was so impressed with it he is going to get one. Anyways I'm very happy with it. I thought it was going to be to small and it's just right as was mentioned earlier. It also is very fast even compared to a .40 2 stroke with a 10x6 on it. If anyone reading this is considering going four stroke don't worry about the ASP FS52AR. It's perfect. On a great side note. I had almost no oil on the side of my airplane after 4 tanks through the engine. That has to be a huge bonus in my book.
If you are getting 9600 RPM with a 11x8 prop I think I would stick with that one. 9600 RPM is pretty much the sweet spot for that engine. You should avoid over 10000 RPM with 4 strokes

RE: Has anyone tried the Dynam PBY Catalina?
I have a new one also. I test flew from grass the other day and it flew great considering we had a 10-15mph wind. Very happy with it. I am going to debut from the water this weekend at our float fly.

RE: thinder tiger .61 leaking fuel
Sounds like you need to replace the o-ring on the needle valve or you can take a small piece of fuel tubing and "sleeve" the needle valve housing and the needle valve. This will prevent the leak and sucking air through the needle valve.

I have been flying for over 30 years. I have been shot down once, and believe me I have crashed more than one plane. That is the beauty of 2.4, we don't have to worry for the most part about radio interference anymore. He is just trying to get you to buy him a new plane.

The crescent wrench won't work. You will need to get an open end wrench on the prop nut in order to hold it. Then turn the lock nut off and then the prop nut.
