RE: HK Small Bolt Hydro same as HOTR
Rake, you should have a machine shop do it. Ream in a lathe or milling machine tell them you need an accurate bore, should be minimal or no cost. I am a tool maker and machinist by trade. If you talk to one of these guys there may be no cost. The hardware you have looks good. I use a tactic 2.4 GHZ two channel receiver, it requires no antenna. I push the receiver up in the left front sponson until it stops, then put a few drops of silicone on the edge. Eliminating the antenna should be worth some speed. I have over 50 runs on my bolt the only problem I have had was a steering servo.I am very pleased with the boat. After watching videos on you tube I ordered a Piranha 400 if I had a bigger pond I would have gone with the 600.

RE: HK Small Bolt Hydro same as HOTR
I have the small bolt and I just ordered the Piranah 400. It has the same motor and same 30 amp speed control. On the computer it says it takes 7.4 volt instead of the 11.1 for the Bolt. Anyone have any idea why. Or do you think I can run it with the 11.1?

With nitro boats you need an air intake for the engine so you drill an 1/8 th inch hole in the back of the transom with foam floatation up by the vitals. The only way the boat will take in water is if you stop. Or you may use a one way check valve.

I have block sanded the sponson bottom, sides, and ends for sharp corners also the entire hull. Do you think this will help with speed? 35 plus runs still no water. I'm lucky to have a 1/2 + acre pond but I have a cold and it's raining or I would run in the rain. I also run nitro boats but the field equipment and maintenance are a killer.

Sundogz: Thanks for the tip on battery placement. The octura 430 prop ,larger than stock, put the boat on plane now, incresed speed probably 15 mph. Have over 30 runs. I have been lubing the cable with WD 40, water displacing 40 after every run which NASA developed, never taking the cable out. Still no water leaks. After I run motor and esc are cool and battery warm. Ordered premium 25C batteries can't wait to try them.

RE: HK Small Bolt Hydro same as HOTR
I have run my bolt 25+ times with no water problem. I reinforced the canopy with thick epoxy finish resin sanded smooth on sealing edges. In front of the motor I put a 3/8 in wide 1/8 in thick by 3inch length plywood. For clearance for battery I tapped 10/32 for nylon flathead screw, drilled the canopy. Under the head of the screw I used thick slow cure CA,put an o ring the diameter of head of screw. Use 1/8 x3/8 foam wing seating tape, coat with vasoline so it won't tear. Undersize the outer canopy at least 1/16 around the sides that seal to the border molded in the boat. When applying the foam tape be sure not to stretch it. If it leaks you did not tighten the screw enough sand a flat spot where the o ring seals. I think the heat from the battery with a sealed lid makes outward pressure. I have flipped the boat 4 times and got no water. I reinforced the 1/8 sides of the plywood with .030x1/8 carbon fiber strip. The plywood,CA under top deck in front of motor so you only have to install one screw no tape. Keep the foam coated with vasoline.
