RE: SPADSTICK QUESTION
ORIGINAL: A6TEXAN finally flew the aircraft today. excellent flights. only 2 clicks of down elevator trim and 1 click right aileron and she flew hands off. had a funny tail waggle that i didnt like though. could have just been the windy day. i find out on a calm day. [:D]
Congrats. on the maiden flight !!! The tail waggle wasn't flutter was it ? With the bigger engine and prop wash produced, I've found out that flutter can be a problem. Try stiffening up the stablizer and vertical fin with bamboo skewers for extra support.

RE: Midwest Extra 300xs Build
Digger44 Just found your build thread on this plane. Wish I had earlier. I have the sane plane with a OS BGX 3500. and flys great. Did you complete yours and any updates ?

RE: os bgx 3500 prop
Use a Dynathrust 18 X 10 with good results. Don't do much 3-D stuff though, just general flying. Have on a midwest extra 300.

RE: Stripped back plate threads
ORIGINAL: SrTelemaster150 Check the depth of the hole against the screw. You may be abll to use a slightly longer screw to catch some remaining threads in the bottom of the hole.
As luck would have it, only the top threads were damaged. I was able to use a longer bolt and reach the bottom threads to tighten the back plate firmly against the needle stay. Was careful this time not to over-tighten and strip again. Thanks to all who offered advice. Hope I can return the favor some time. Cary

RE: Stripped back plate threads
What size should I try and tap up too ??? A .46 crankcase sells for roughly $40.00, so no big loss here.

Stripped back plate threads
Was putting on a replacement needle valve stay on my .46 AX and over tightened and stripped the threads on the backplate so now the 3 x 8 mm hex screw will not tighten. With this, it will not run correctly (air leak). Is there a fix for this ? Is there another screw (larger) that can be substituted here if tapped for it ? Another option would be to purchase a replacement crankcase. Thanks Cary

RE: wire safety clips?
ORIGINAL: dasintex +++ for the ones made by Parson's, have used for years now, never a problem; I use them on all my servo connections, even use them when I plug the servos together when I attach the wing, not a problem using them over and over again, snaps on soundly time and time again.
Plus 1 * for Parson's. I use them too and love them.

RE: Figuring wing loading
Thanks guys for the information on figuring wing loading. The plane (SPAD corostang) is a real floater and pleasant to fly with a 55 AX turning a 12 x 4 with mac's black muffler. Figuring wing loading
Simple question here: Built a plane that has a weight of 6 lbs. even (weighed with electronic fish scale) and has a wing surface area of 720 sq. in (12 in. chord by 60 in. length). Now the ailerons are 2 in. in width. Should the chord be 14 in. ? Do you figure in the ailerons when figuring the wing loading ? Thanks Cary

RE: Where can you buy O-Rings Small Enough for Our Engines?
Do you really want to trust your investment to "foreign O rigs" that might cause the engine to fail in flight-possibly your plane as well ? Bite the bullet like you did-Hope you bought more than 1 set of rings to offset the shipping cost. I've been in similar situations where the shipping was more than the product ordered and "rationalized" the purchase by buying several of the product. Who knows, maybe you can help a fellow modeler who needs this O ring in the future >

RE: Boca bearings for OS .35 AX
Thanks freakingfast for taking the time to explain this to me. I don't want to sound like a "Nervous-Nellie", but this is my 2nd OS .35 AX. On the first one, the ball bearings actually left the housing and destroyed the engine. As long as you can see a smoke trail coming out of the muffler while running, does this show that you are not running too lean and that oil is passing out of the engine-lubricating the moving parts ?

RE: Boca bearings for OS .35 AX
Thanks for the replys guys: I didn't know the stock bearings could be run up to 20 K rpm. I running 10% nitro 18% oil content for engine protection. I'm getting a good smoke trail out of the muffler at full throttle, so am running slightly rick. Thanks again

Boca bearings for OS .35 AX
Looking to replace bearings in my OS 35 AX. I'm running over 15,000 RPM on the stock bearings. Thinking they are not meant for this and looking at ceramic bearings or stainless from Boca. RE: Is this pathetic? Or obsessive? The most work no one will ever notice.
Question is....Did you have fun and enjoyment in fixing the stripes on the stab ? I too do alot of things that wouldn't necessarily need to be done, but do anyways for the love of the hobby. I do like the looks of the stab you completed. Even if you cannot tell it when flying, you know it was done and that's all that matters.
